Event Update For 2016-08-31

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

  1. Hey Jonny - great update (again) for this day. Can you believe all the tractor trailers going up in flames? It's like the people dropping dead list - there's WAY too many, EVERY DAY now, for it to be "normal." Well, actually it's the NEW normal - and it's going to continue to get worse as we proceed into the abyss.

On his NBL blog today, Guy McPherson is closing up shop, having decided that he's said and done about all he can to alert people to the coming mass extinction of humanity (as well as most if not all of the other life on the planet) and that he'll spend his remaining time walking the talk by living his own version of a "life of excellence." He said he'll be back occasionally to post thoughts and observations.

The sheer number of vectors that guarantee this result is astounding - from our pollution (including radiation, CO2, water vapor, plastic including nano-sized particles, soot and black carbon, brake dust, and thousands of toxic chemicals) to the methane and hydrogen sulfide that the Earth emits as a result of said pollution, resource depletion, overpopulation (of humans), and many more (like our "intelligence" which, as Ernst Mayr has said, is a lethal mutation).

This blog displays the results every day - wafting gas-caused explosions and fires, sudden deaths, stronger storms, more earthquakes (via the brilliant MISA theory our host "discovered"), species die-offs, animal attacks and more.

Let's continue to see what's ahead by looking at daily occurrences.

[Water quality will continue to degrade and, combined with marine die-off, will extend phytoplankton decrease - the little creatures that supply HALF of OUR OXYGEN, the other half coming from trees, which are also dying all over the planet as the result of human-caused air pollution. Add this to the stated vectors above. Lack of water and too much also impacts humanity.]

  2. Endless Hot Summer of 2016 — Heavy Arctic Sea Ice Losses, Record Temps for Alaska and Hermine’s Rains Barreling In

[essay ends with this short-sighted conclusion]
So from big sea ice losses to record heat in Alaska, to what’s shaping up to be another extreme rain event for the U.S. southeast, the climate hits just keep on coming. It’s all a part of the context of climate change that’s been steadily settling in over the past few decades, which paints a rather obvious picture of ongoing climate shifts and alterations to expected weather patterns — to include the loss of sea ice, the intensity of heat over Alaska and the severity of rains falling out during storms like Hermine.

Hermine Floods Coastal Areas, Downs Trees As It Hits Florida

California Or A Third World Country?

We’re in the midst of a hot, dry summer. While you’re thinking about how you’ll cool off, consider this: four times more Californians than the entire population of Flint, Michigan do not get clean, safe water from the tap in their homes. They live where water must be trucked in for drinking and cooking. Where they wait in line to shower in public trailers. And where they’ve been living like this for a long time.

California’s drought didn’t cause these third-world country problems, but it certainly exacerbated them.

The hardest-hit communities, most in rural areas that are not served by large municipal water agencies, relied on groundwater sources that are contaminated or dry. Their small water agencies don’t have the funding to operate and maintain new infrastructure projects that could treat the water or bring in drinking water from other regions. And the customers – most living well below the poverty line – simply cannot cover the high cost of this expense.

This tragic situation is a study in paradox. It cuts very close for me, in part because of the experiences of my professional life, but perhaps more by virtue of having grown up in a farm worker family.

In California, the sixth largest global economy – and one of the most affluent—more than 500 communities are served by water agencies that cannot provide clean, safe water to their residents. [more]

For the first time, scientists have observed a deviation from the typical alternating pattern of easterly and westerly winds in the equatorial stratosphere.

For the first time, scientists have observed a deviation from the typical alternating pattern of easterly and westerly winds in the equatorial stratosphere.

scientists discovered that the quasi-biennial oscillation began to deviatefrom its usual pattern in late 2015. At that time, westerly winds were descending in altitude and should have continued to sink and weaken as easterlies replaced them.

Instead, the westerly winds shifted upward and seemed to cut off the descent of high-altitude easterlies before they could begin their usual dominance. Additional easterly winds developed at lower altitudes in the stratosphere, beneath the rising westerlies.
