Event Update For 2016-04-23

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

  2. What is the Sinkhole Connection with all of this ?

  3. Gonna be 86F here tomorrow, an early glimpse of summer. But yeah, had a good weekend. I mean, I didn't blow up, burn to death or fall over dead, soooo...good enough. Hah, I'm setting the bar pretty low these days!

  4. Ah, sinkholes. Well, there are several ways sinkholes tie in.

First, gas is being expelled from the ground. That means volume is exiting the Earth, so the Earth will tend to subside into that missing volume. That's why frackers fill the missing volume with fluid, but when the gas exits naturally then there's nothing to replace the lost volume, so the land will tend to subside into the lost volume. That's going to be especially true along coastlines where there are large methane clathrate deposits, which is most coastlines, and those deposits are melting now, along the US east and west coasts, off the coast of New Zealand, in the Arctic, etc. Those deposits are a solid, of a sort, and as they melt, they turn into water and gas. The water flows away, the gas bubbles up, and again, lost volume, which means possible land subsidence.

Next, hydrogen sulfide is corrosive to concrete and to iron/steel, so it's degrading infrastructure. That means more collapsing water mains and sewer mains and so on, and when those break, sinkholes often form.

Finally, hydrogen sulfide is mixing with the rain. Not everywhere, or else there'd be more incidents like the 41 kids and some animals that dropped dead after rainfall in in Papua (Indonesia), mentioned in the 2015-11-24 update. But wherever that does happen - it's a weak acid and making rain more acidic - even just a little more acidic - can over time cause additional land slumping, landslides, or subsidence.

Prescription meds get trapped in disturbing pee-to-food-to-pee loop

In a randomized, single-blind pilot study, researchers found that anticonvulsive epilepsy drug carbamazepine, which is released in urine, can accumulate in crops irrigated with recycled water—treated sewage—and end up in the urine of produce-eaters not on the drugs. The study, published Tuesday in Environmental Science & Technology, is the first to validate the long-held suspicion that pharmaceuticals may get trapped in infinite pee-to-food-to-pee loops, exposing consumers to drug doses with unknown health effects.
