"If we pursue our present fatal path, you will drive the ignorant to support coups d'état at one moment, and swell the forces of street rioters at the next, and we shall be left exposed to the pitiless fury of irresponsible mobs trying to avenge themselves by looting among the ruins." -- Léon Gambetta

Event Update For 2019-11-05
The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.
A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Quote: "Broadmoor Middle Laboratory School will be closed as a precaution Wednesday as authorities search for the cause of a mystery medical emergency that sent at least 13 students to hospitals. Medical emergency sends 13 or more students to hospital; authorities evacuate school What initially was reported as a possible natural gas leak spurred a large emergency response Tuesday afternoon and caused officials to evacuate the campus on Atlantic Avenue. At least 13 students have since been taken to area hospitals. Two students came out of a class feeling dizzy and complained of headaches, Caddo School District spokeswoman Mary Nash-Wood told KSLA News 12. Eleven more other students and three school staffers had similar symptoms, she added."
Quote: "Shreveport firefighters and CenterPoint Energy crews checked the campus for a gas leak and found none."
Note: So it smelled LIKE the odorant added to natural gas but it wasn't natural gas. That's what hydrogen sulfide smells like, all of those symptoms match those of low-level hydrogen sulfide poisoning, and they didn't find any natural gas. People will often mistake the smell of low concentrations of hydrogen sulfide for a gas leak, since the smell is the same, but hydrogen sulfide will not register on natural gas detectors...

Quote: "Strandell said he and other staff members believe the smell may have been sewer gas."
Note: Sewer gas is the common name for hydrogen sulfide. They thought it was a natural gas leak, but it wasn't. Like I was just saying...

Quote: "The climate crisis has arrived and is accelerating faster than most scientists expected (figure 2, IPCC 2018). It is more severe than anticipated, threatening natural ecosystems and the fate of humanity (IPCC 2019). Especially worrisome are potential irreversible climate tipping points and nature's reinforcing feedbacks (atmospheric, marine, and terrestrial) that could lead to a catastrophic “hothouse Earth,” well beyond the control of humans (Steffen et al. 2018). These climate chain reactions could cause significant disruptions to ecosystems, society, and economies, potentially making large areas of Earth uninhabitable."

Best way to start the day, reading JJFH to get the low-down on reality.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Jonny and your faithful readers. Another interesting day, as things become ever more strange. Anomalous weather, strange things in the sky, die-off of land mammals, birds, insects, etc. and marine-deaths, increasing fire activity, and mysterious explosions and loud eerie noises coming from "all over."
Let's take a look around.

Caitlin Johnstone: Things are only going to get weirder
ReplyDeletehttps://www.sott.net/article/423147-Caitlin-Johnstone-Things-are-only-going-to-get-weirder
Things are getting stranger and stranger. If you would have told someone ten years ago that Dennis Rodman would one day be helping to negotiate peace between North Korea and President Donald Trump, they would have assumed you were describing some weird movie cooked up in the mind of Mike Judge or the South Park guys. But in this timeline it's an actual news story.
Everything about the last few years has been weird. The mass media's behavior has been weird, Russiagate was weird, Ukrainegate is weird, a former presidential candidate accusing a current presidential candidate of working for the Kremlin was weird, people constantly accusing strangers on the internet of being Russian agents is weird, factions of the US government constantly leaking information against other factions of the US government is weird, the DNC getting caught rigging their primary was weird, Hillary Clinton losing the election was weird, the Skripal poisoning was weird, US government officials openly tweeting about their Venezuela coup is weird, the breakdown of the entire mainstream Syria narrative is weird, Assange's arrest was weird, the campaign to censor the internet is weird, and this is just stuff off the top of my head from the areas I've been looking at in my own narrow spectrum of focus. Anyone else could list dozens of other weird new developments from their own slice of the information pie.
I often hear people in my line of work saying "Man, we're going to look back on all this crazy shit and think about how absolutely weird it was!"
No we won't. Because it's only going to get weirder.
It's only going to get weirder, because that's what it looks like when old patterns start to fall away. [more]

CDC petitioned to admit they accept corporate money
https://www.sott.net/article/423344-CDC-petitioned-to-admit-they-accept-corporate-money
According to a recent news release posted by the U.S. Right to Know, public health groups petitioned the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday in an effort to stop the agency from making claims that it does not accept corporate money. Specifically, the CDC has claimed that it "does not accept commercial support" and has "no financial interests or other relationships with the manufacturers of commercial products." The public interest groups behind the petition believes the CDC's claims are false.
The US RTK news release explains, "The CDC makes such disclaimers hundreds of times in its publications and on its website, despite that the National Foundation for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has accepted for it nearly $80 million from drug companies and other commercial manufacturers during fiscal years 2014-2018."
The CDC is violating the public trust by misleading us in this way.
In 2017, the US RTK shared documents between The Coca-Cola Company and the CDC's director at the time, Brenda Fitzgerald, showing proof of an alliance. In January, a study co-authored by Ruskin showed emails between Coca-Cola and the CDC, detailing Coca-Cola's efforts to influence the agency. One correspondence showed a CDC official offering tips to the beverage company on how to lobby the World Health Organization to "back off its efforts to curtail added sugars." Coca-Cola is one of many companies that have donated money to the CDC Foundation. [more]

A manufacturing crisis in America unseen since 2008
http://robinwestenra.blogspot.com/2019/11/a-manufacturing-crisis-in-america.html
This isn’t what was supposed to happen. According to the economic optimists, there was going to be a great “manufacturing renaissance” as America entered a wonderful new golden age of boundless prosperity. But of course that is not what has happened. Manufacturing activity has been declining for the past three months, and all across the country we are seeing economic conditions rapidly deteriorate. Over and over, we are seeing economic numbers that are worse than anything we have seen since the last recession, but the economic optimists keep assuring us that these are just temporary blips on the way to America’s glorious economic renewal. Well, they can keep believing in a mirage of future prosperity if they want, but the hard numbers keep telling us another story. [more; by Michael Snyder]

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson To Retire Amid Internal Affairs Probe
https://www.yahoo.com/huffpost/chicago-police-superintendent-eddie-johnson-retires.html
Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson is expected to announce Thursday that he is retiring after nearly four years as the city’s top cop and more than three decades with the police force.
Johnson’s retirement comes as Chicago’s inspector general investigates an Oct. 17 incident in which police officers found the superintendent passed out in his car at a stop sign.
The incident was initially blamed on a change in Johnson’s blood pressure medication that he said caused him to pull over. But Mayor Lori Lightfoot later told the Chicago Sun-Times that the superintendent had a “couple of drinks with dinner” that evening. Johnson had been taking medication since experiencing a blood clot over the summer. [more]

Iconic Pacific bird sanctuary ravaged by plastic and death
ReplyDeletehttps://www.yahoo.com/news/iconic-pacific-bird-sanctuary-ravaged-053701543.html
Flying into the uninhabited Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, Midway Atoll appears out of the vast blue Pacific as a tiny oasis of coral-fringed land with pristine white sand beaches that are teeming with life.
But on the ground, there's a different scene: plastic, pollution and death.
With virtually no predators, Midway is a haven for many species of seabirds and is home to the largest colony of albatross in the world.
But Midway is also at the center of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a vast area of floating plastic collected by circulating oceanic currents. The Hawaiian Islands act like a comb that gathers debris as it floats across the Pacific. A recent analysis found that the patch is accumulating debris at a faster rate than scientists previously thought. [more]

Sea levels could rise even faster, higher than feared: study
https://www.yahoo.com/news/sea-levels-could-rise-even-faster-higher-feared-133148877.html
Global warming could drive a much more dramatic increase in sea levels than current projections suggest, scientists say, citing a rise of 10 metres (33 feet) during Earth's last warming interlude more than 100,000 years ago.
Such a change far outstrips current projections and could be catastrophic for vast swathes of humanity, a team at Australian National University concluded in a study. [more]

We Are Running Out of Air
One suffocating city is a harbinger of health crises around the world.

Officials have implored the people of New Delhi to stay inside, indefinitely. Five million children in India’s capital have been handed face masks. Everyone is to keep windows closed. Contrary to the most fundamental medical advice, the city’s chief minister urged residents this week to “avoid outdoor physical activities.”
News images seem cut from an apocalyptic outbreak film. One of India’s holiest rivers is covered in toxic foam that looks like white cotton candy. Midday visibility is like a foggy dusk. The air reportedly causes people’s eyes to burn. [more]

Heavy rains, flooding displace hundred of thousands in East Africa
ReplyDeletehttps://www.yahoo.com/news/heavy-rains-flooding-displace-hundred-163906536.html
Heavy rains and floods have killed more than 50 people and forced hundreds of thousands of people from their homes across East Africa as researchers warn warming oceans are causing unpredictable weather patterns in the region.
South Sudan declared a national emergency last week after 420,000 people fled from the floods, the United Nations said.
"We now live with dead animals, waste and garbage all submerged under these waters," said resident Veronica Komor, aged 42. [more]
"The extremes are becoming more pronounced than before," he said. "We can attribute this to the changing global atmosphere, like global warming."
But Chris Shisanya, a professor of climatology at Nairobi-based Kenyatta University, said it was too early to say the heavy rains and floods were due to global warming. [more; yeah, there's always somebody ready to say NOPE]

'If there's a spill, it's a disaster': living next to a giant lake of radioactive waste
https://www.yahoo.com/news/theres-spill-disaster-living-next-093018946.html
It is a gargantuan manmade 960-acre lake containing hundreds of millions of gallons of toxic, radioactive water that sits on top of a 200ft pile of waste byproduct, an enormous, chalky white wall that makes the bulldozers and cranes atop look like children’s toys. The massive white mound is shaped like a giant bathtub, formed with a naturally radioactive element called phosphogypsum and filled with toxic cargo. It has reshaped the horizon in this parish, which has transitioned from a center of slavery, to black-owned farmland, to an industrial corridor.

I'm dissapointed at how much right-wing politics has intruded on this otherwise great site. I don't think Hillary is evil and republicans have to lie to get votes. Thier obsessiveness regarding Hillary is sick.Considering howu Narcissism is in the rightwing politics is shows how warped and selfish those on the right are, they got control issues. For the record trump is a sociopath.
ReplyDeleteI understand your point of view, Panther. If you just read what *I* write, I don't think you'll find much of anything that is pro right wing politics. I don't speak for others though, nor do I want to be a censor. Occasionally I point out that Trump's policies are going to end up KILLING US ALL SOONER. Especially the loosening of regulations that reign in corporate abuses, like wantonly spewing methane into the atmosphere, allowing Alaskan forests to be cut down for cyanide-using gold mines, a new plastic factory in Pennsylvania, etc, etc. I don't even see that as particularly 'political'. When I was in Basic Training in the Army, a soldier asked the question, 'How do you recognize the enemy on the battlefield, sarge?' Sarge replied, 'He's the one's tryin' to kill you.' That's Trump.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, I've given up on politics, voting and the phony democracy we're all supposed to believe the U.S. is. I used to be registered independent, but after GWB, I'm apolitical, leaning toward strongly anarchistic.
ReplyDeleteI cite many stories from various sources whose authors may lean right or left, but that doesn't mean I support their political views.
In another year or 2, none of this will matter.
In case anyone wondered, I am socially liberal and in normal times fiscally conservative. Since there is no future, I have set aside the latter, since it doesn't matter if we go extinct in the black, and if we can spend money and put it on the backs of the non-existent people of the future, well, I don't mind burdening non-existent people with anything.
ReplyDeleteBut beyond that, I am pro-staying-alive. At this time, that means I ally myself, to the degree it matters, with whomever opposes the person or party most likely to shorten my life. Since the person and party most likely to shorten my life is Trump and Republicans, I will vote for whoever opposes him/them. Should the person/party most likely to shorten my life change, I will adjust accordingly. So I guess you would say that my politics are, at the moment, entirely algorithmic, with Democrats being the beneficiary at this point in time.
To add to that, I don't inflict my politics, such as they are, on people in my daily updates to any great degree, preferring instead to stay focused on the matter at hand, that being the end of the world as we know it. I don't want anyone to die, and I want everyone to have at least a shot at seeing the truth of things. The end of the world and the truth are both apolitical. Blue or red, dead is dead, and red or blue, the truth remains true.
