Event Update For 2017-07-07

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

    Scientists have underestimated climate sensitivity

Why the climate is more sensitive to carbon dioxide than weather records suggest

    Crossing the threshold

Climate change is unlikely to proceed in a linear way. Instead, there is a range of potential thresholds, tipping points, and points of no return that can be crossed during either warming or transient short-lived cooling pauses followed by further warming.

The prehistoric records of the cycles between ice ages, namely intervening warmer "interglacial" periods, reveal several such events, such as the big freeze that suddenly took hold about 12,900 years ago, and the abrupt thaw about 8,200 years ago.

In the prehistoric record, sudden freezing events (called "stadial events") consistently follow peak interglacial temperatures.

Such events could include the collapse of the Atlantic Mid-Ocean Circulation (AMOC), with consequent widespread freezing associated with influx of extensive ice melt from the Greenland and other polar ice sheets. The influx of cold ice-melt water would abort the warm salt-rich AMOC, leading to regional cooling such as is recorded following each temperature peak during previous interglacial periods.

Over the past few years cold water pools south of Greenland have indicated such cooling of the North Atlantic Ocean. The current rate of global warming could potentially trigger the AMOC to collapse. [more]

Peru’s National Civil Defence Institute (INDECI) reports a severe dengue and zika outbreak in the country, following devastating floods and landslides in February 2017. As of July 5, the Institute reports 20 390 confirmed dengue cases, 46 297 unconfirmed, 56 confirmed and 12 probable deaths, and 546 confirmed zika cases.  [more]

  3. Maybe some lightning from the storm ignited a blob of methane in the sky and it sizzled off and left a ring-ish looking blob of smoky carbon remnant. I bet there was a flash of lightning shortly before that smoke ring was seen.

  4. And as pertains to the Atlantic Mid-Ocean Circulation - that's exactly what I said some months ago: that the sudden COOLING of the upper Atlantic Ocean was caused by the ice melt from Greenland, and that was causing the current to slow down, making heat back up along the East Coast, which is why the waters there are now so warm that shellfish are dying off the coast of Maine.

So if that continues - and I don't see any reason why Greenland won't continue melting - then the Atlantic Mid-Ocean Circulation will continue slowing, and it'll get cold in Europe while the heat that SHOULD get pulled away from the East Coast and transferred over to Europe will continue backing up along the East Coast. Which is where there's a huge 5-trillion-pound methane clathrate deposit that's already melting away.

So, chain reaction: Greenland melts, Europe gets colder, the East Coast heats up (killing lots of ocean life), and then that big clathrate deposit blows its wad, and that'll warm Europe back up big-time...with gargantuan fires. And the East Coast may get vaporized here and there too, when the wind shifts and blows westward instead of eastward from time to time.

So yeah, pay attention to all that stuff - the melting of Greenland, any information about the status of that current, the temp of the ocean in the North Atlantic, and the temp of the ocean off the East Coast. They're all connected.

  5. Great analysis, Jonny. I think that's what this whole mini-Ice age nonsense is about, the stopping of the AMOC causing (at least) European deep freeze. They skip right to that before all the heating is over, which is fishy, at best.

California power plant explosion leaves large areas near Los Angeles without electricity

The explosion was reported shortly before 7pm local time Saturday. The LA Times reports that firefighters arrived on the scene to find a huge container of mineral oil, which is used as a cooling agent for electrical equipment, engulfed in flames.

The power cut comes amid a heatwave in the area, with temperatures hitting a sweltering 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37 degrees Celsius) in the Valley. [more; check out SOTT comment]

Whistleblower: NSA cannot identify future terrorism because 99.9999% of what it collects and analyzes is irrelevant

[right! when you collect EVERYTHING, ya gotta sort it all out]

The man who designed the NSA's electronic intelligence gathering system (Bill Binney) sent us an affidavit which he signed on the Fourth of July explaining that the NSA is still spying on normal, every day Americans ... and not focused on stopping terror attacks [more]
