Event Update For 2015-04-07

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Category: Fires And Explosions

2015-04-07 - Power plant hit by explosion in southern Maryland, much of Washington DC goes dark:

Quote: "D.C. homeland security officials said an explosion at a southern Maryland electrical facility is believed to have caused the power surge that temporarily knocked out power to the White House and much of downtown Washington, according to the Washington Post."

2015-04-07 - Underground electrical explosion hits Chicopee (Massachusetts):

2015-04-07 - Electrical box explodes beneath the Eads Bridge over the Mississippi River in St. Louis (Missouri):

Note: Hydrogen sulfide is reactive with copper, especially electrified copper. Eventually this one problem will wipe out the grid and the world will be plunged into darkness. This is the same problem that's causing underground fires and explosions and it's also causing parked vehicles to burst into flame, at least much of the time. (The other ignition source is hydrogen sulfide's reactivity with rust.) Some of these major grid-related fires are taking out electricity for days at a time, so it'd be wise to keep some flashlights and solar chargers and stuff handy...

2015-04-07 - Six-story commercial building erupts in flame in Westlake area in coastal Los Angeles (California):

2015-04-07 - Fuel depot burns for sixth day in coastal Santos (Brazil):

2015-04-07 - Nuclear submarine damaged by fire at port in coastal Severodvinsk (Russia), blamed on welders:

Note: Oh, I'm sure there was some welding going on. What do welders use regularly in the performance of their job? Fire! Increasingly flammable atmosphere, more welding-related fires, simple as that. What were the methane and hydrogen sulfide levels on the coast there? Had any adsorbed onto the steel or other materials in that sub? Nobody is checking. If you're damned sure you're not looking for something, there's a very good chance you won't see it.

Here are submarine fire incidents from the recent past, and the date is the event update in which that event was listed:

2014-03-17 - Decommissioned nuclear submarine 'Krasnodar' bursts into flame at shipyard in coastal Murmansk (Russia):

This list is just submarine fires, and includes none of the aircraft carrier fires or exploding cargo ships or deadly ferry boat fires or yachts burning and whatnot. So this makes at least the eighth submarine to burn in less than two years. No idea how many submarines there are in the world currently, but eventually there will be none, or at least none made of steel or that use electrified copper...

  1. Hey Jonny - my last comment last evening didn't record (about a 2nd stupendous eruption of Turrialba), so i'll start with that:

Turrialba Volcano erupts again spewing hot rocks and ash 2 kilometers high

Today we have these, so far:

Elderly woman died from dog attack in Wilkes County, Georgia

Peru's Ubinas volcano explodes, spreads ashes over nearby villages

Migratory birds starving in Nova Scotia due to prolonged snow cover [see last in today's list]

Long harsh winter in Nova Scotia hard on predators like bobcat, foxes
[hey, they can eat the scrawny birds looking for scarce food on the ground!]

  2. Hmmm, yeah, and starving sea lions on the West Coast. As the biosphere spazzes out and suffers, I guess more 'starvation events' are to be expected. And I highly doubt human beings are going to be immune to that.

  3. Yeah! Just today i noticed that the price of Milk Duds is way up because they also cut the package size in half, the bastards!

oh, you mean this sort of thing .. .

40-min hailstorm leaves a trail of destruction in Mathura, India

It was 3.30pm on Friday. The hailstorm started suddenly as Bhura Singh Meena of Bilauthi village in Mathura district was working in his field. "The hailstones were pretty big and hurting. We ran for cover to the local school," said Meena.

The storm subsided in a few minutes but what happened next is something Meena hasn't seen in his 60-odd years. It started again, but this time there was no rain, just hail. "It was like hard white balls falling from the sky," he said.

Three spells of hail took place in a span of around 40 minutes in the district. The storm started over Vrindavan and move north-northwest leaving a trail of smashed car windshields, hole-ridden asbestos roofs, scores of dead birds and animals as well as injured people. A house in Nagla Imam Khan village collapsed, killing two persons.

"Hailstones weighing up to 1kg fell during the storm," said district revenue official Ranvir Singh. There was no way of confirming the claim, but thousands of hectares of flattened wheat fields through the district told their own tale of the storm's fury.

  4. Well, at least a couple of people see the possibility of the threat posed by hydrogen sulfide. They still don't see that it's already happening, but hey, just being aware of the possibility is something.

And wow, 1-kilogram hail - the hailstorms are really getting out of hand! Hailstorms flattening crops isn't going to be too helpful for the food situation. News reported some baseball-sized hail in my area during the three-day pounding by thunderstorms we've just endured here. None hit me this time though, thankfully.

  5. Yeah whatever's left from that after it goes over the mountains here will hit us this afternoon (when it's in the 70's again, after two days of dreary weather below 50). Weather people say "possibility" of a strong gusty thunderstorm (which means power outages, damage, maybe hail if it happens). We lose power for no discernible reason every now and then around here. Last night at 10 my wife tells me we lost power for about 2 seconds - just enough to have to reset all the digital clocks - and it was only drizzling (no thunder, lightening or wind).
