Weather people say "possibility" of a strong gusty thunderstorm (which means power outages, damage, maybe hail if it happens). We lose power for no discernible reason every now and then around here. Last night at 10 my wife tells me we lost power for about 2 seconds - just enough to have to reset all the digital clocks - and it was only drizzling (no thunder, lightening or wind).

TomAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-80933773381955200442015-04-09T19:42:49.752-05:002015-04-09T19:42:49.752-05:00Well, at least a couple of people see the possibil...Well, at least a couple of people see the possibility of the threat posed by hydrogen sulfide. They still don't see that it's already happening, but hey, just being aware of the possibility is something.

And wow, 1-kilogram hail - the hailstorms are really getting out of hand! Hailstorms flattening crops isn't going to be too helpful for the food situation. News reported some baseball-sized hail in my area during the three-day pounding by thunderstorms we've just endured here. None hit me this time though, thankfully.
Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-34286534111207346612015-04-09T17:53:05.419-05:002015-04-09T17:53:05.419-05:00Yeah! The hailstorm started suddenly as Bhura Singh Meena of Bilauthi village in Mathura district was working in his field. "The hailstones were pretty big and hurting. We ran for cover to the local school," said Meena.

The storm subsided in a few minutes but what happened next is something Meena hasn't seen in his 60-odd years. It started again, but this time there was no rain, just hail. "It was like hard white balls falling from the sky," he said.

Three spells of hail took place in a span of around 40 minutes in the district. The storm started over Vrindavan and move north-northwest leaving a trail of smashed car windshields, hole-ridden asbestos roofs, scores of dead birds and animals as well as injured people. A house in Nagla Imam Khan village collapsed, killing two persons.

"Hailstones weighing up to 1kg fell during the storm," said district revenue official Ranvir Singh. There was no way of confirming the claim, but thousands of hectares of flattened wheat fields through the district told their own tale of the storm's fury.
[leading to our topic of the day: the coming food shortages]

Wild boar attacks 2 people in Gloucestershire, UK
http://www.sott.net/article/295012-Wild-boar-attacks-2-people-in-Gloucestershire-UK

Magnitude 4.5 and 4.2 earthquakes strike Baja, California
http://www.sott.net/article/295011-Magnitude-4-5-and-4-2-earthquakes-strike-Baja-California

[and a personal interest article for you to check out]

Experts perplexed by ancient structure built in the middle of a Siberian Lake: 'Russia's most mysterious archaeological site'
http://www.sott.net/article/295018-Experts-perplexed-by-ancient-structure-built-in-the-middle-of-a-Siberian-Lake-Russias-most-mysterious-archaeological-site

lastly, check this out - and especially the comments

Onrush of Second Monster Kelvin Wave Raises Specter of 2015 Super El Nino

https://robertscribbler.wordpress.com/2015/04/09/onrush-of-second-monster-kelvin-wave-raises-specter-of-2015-super-el-nino/#comments

TomAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-38717590917967663692015-04-09T11:10:54.412-05:002015-04-09T11:10:54.412-05:00Hmmm, yeah, and starving sea lions on the West Coa...Hmmm, yeah, and starving sea lions on the West Coast.
