Event Update For 2014-01-28

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

However, with the warm and dry start to January we may dealing with even more brushfires sooner rather than later. Adam Goldberg with Northwest Fire Department says they have already responded to several brushfires this year with the most recent on Tucson's northwest side just last week. 'It is somewhat rare to see brushfires in January,' says Goldberg. Tucson is on pace for the third warmest and top 10 driest months of January on record which dates all the way back to 1895. This has Northwest Fire preparing for a blazing fire season ahead."

Note: Did 'fire season' ever actually end? Not from what I can tell...

2014-01-28 - Crewman, 46, has chest pain, medevac'd off cruise ship near coastal San Diego (California):

  1. Hi Jonny, I'm at Winnipeg, Canada. Recently I have noticed that the sun is a very bright white. It used to be yellow. Do you think this is related to Methane/Hydrogen Sulfide?

    Thanks for your great work!

    1. Yes, it's related. The ozone layer is being affected, and that's our radiation shield. As the ozone layer breaks down and the methane builds up in the upper atmosphere, the Sun will hit us with more 'blue' light and less 'yellow' light, which makes the Sun look whiter. Same thing here in the Midwest; the Sun hasn't looked properly yellow in several years now.

this is just now happening in my area. near kentucky lake. smelled very strongly of rotten eggs outside my house this morning for a couple of hours. gas company came by and found no leaks, and he also commented that they have had 8 calls so far today because of the smell.
and also, a fire broke out this morning in the area that may or may not be related:

    1. Yes, both of those events are suspicious, especially the odor. I see that 'many authorities' believe the odor is coming from a paper mill. If so then there would have been similar issues in past years too. You'd know better than 'many authorities' if that's true. Is this an ongoing thing, the smell, or is this something unusual?

    2. thanks for your reply. i have never smelled any gas or rotten egg odor for the three years we've been in this house, and for the ten years we've lived here in marshall county. it wasn't a hint of an odor either, it was permeating. also, a commenter in that first article says that he lives near the paper mill and knows the smell, but this new odor is something entirely different.
there was a small 2.6 earthquake in our area sunday afternoon. we're near the new madrid fault line. some people are attributing the smell to sulfur gas being released from the ground. others are saying they've been hearing large booms in the area. these events may or may not be related.
i certainly hope this passes soon. i've read up on your hypothesis and it scares the crap out of me. if the smell continues, especially during the morning hours, i'm sticking with your hydrogen sulphide theory.
thank you for all your hard work and diligent updates. i very much admire what you do, though i must admit, i really hope you're wrong on this one.

    3. I completely understand your hoping I'm wrong - I do too! Doesn't sound like it's the paper mill in this case. Might wanna get an ozone generator, unless you have respiratory issues, and run that anytime you smell anything out of the ordinary. (I have three little ones myself, and I run them nonstop, but they do eat up electricity.)

    4. Please, will you post link(s) to ozone generator you use/suggest.

    5. Well, I tried a big one and it crapped out after a year, so now I'm trying three of these:

I've only had them about 3 months, so I can't really say much about durability yet, but they do generate some ozone, and they're not nearly as pricey as most others I've seen. They're small, like for one room, so I put one in the main room of each floor.

    6. I wonder, what if instead of Ozone (O3), a person vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) into their living space?

    7. I dunno, never tried breathing hydrogen peroxide vapor. Ozone is one of the ways that have traditionally been used to fight hydrogen sulfide emissions at landfills though, so I'll stick with that, but nothing says you can't experiment with other possibilities!
