Event Update For 2020-08-23

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

    Portland: have the rioters won?

It appears from the District Attorney that charges involving “resisting arrest” seems to be among the most common charges to be dropped.

Charges will be dropped because the DA implies that people naturally commit crimes if they’ve been tear gassed and it really is the police’s fault. The logic is law enforcement’s attempt to stop a riot is enough excuse for people to create a riot because they can’t help themselves. [more]

Grand theft agua: Up to HALF of world’s water supply is being stolen, new report claims

New research suggests that somewhere between 30 to 50 percent of the world's water supply is being illegally siphoned off and is not being paid for or counted, reviving debate about how we define water.
In their paper, the researchers argue that a lack of any widely-accepted definition of what constitutes water theft, or whether it can even exist at all, precludes coordinated effort from governments, regulators and communities and therefore hamstrings any efforts at enforcement and policing of water resources.

Agriculture accounts for roughly 70 percent of human water use, and water is therefore most often stolen for agricultural purposes. [more; Nestle!]

  5. Cutting it close! THREE asteroids inbound this week were only spotted THIS MONTH, NASA reveals

The near-constant bombardment of space rocks buzzing our planet continues, with planetary defenses alerted to a trio of asteroids measuring over 25 meters in diameter en route to Earth’s backyard this week.

To kick things off on Monday, not one but two space rocks over 25 meters (82 feet) in diameter will fly past, both of which were detected just this month, leaving little time and space for error in calculating their trajectories.

Next up, on Wednesday, asteroid 2020 FF3, measuring 25 meters in diameter will come far closer, though maintaining a safe distance of 2.4 million kilometers. This space rock was only spotted on August 14.

Punctuating the mid week are two smaller asteroids, 2016 AH164 (3.9 meters) and 2020 QQ2 (15 meters), which will pass at a distance of six million and 3.2 million kilometers on Wednesday and Thursday respectively. [more]
