Event Update For 2019-08-30

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Category: Variety Pack

2019-08-30 - Ancient extinction was caused by oceanic oxygen depletion and sulfidic waters:
http://phys.org/news/2019-08-oxygen-depletion-ancient-oceans-major.html
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/08/190830150801.htm

Quote: "Their investigations also revealed that the extinction was likely driven in part by the proliferation of sulfidic ocean conditions. 'For the first time, this research provides a mechanism to drive the observed step-wise extinction event, which first coincided with ocean deoxygenation and was followed by more severe and toxic ocean conditions with sulfide in the water column,' Bowman said."

Note: By 'toxic ocean conditions with sulfide in the water column' they mean hydrogen sulfide, which is released by ancient anaerobic bacteria and archaea on the ocean floors, life that thrives when there's no oxygen and when the waters are warmer. And this is what I've been saying all along, except that I'm saying that the very same thing is happening now, and the result will be the same: mass extinction. Also, the emission of hydrogen sulfide is what allows the oceanic die-off to spread beyond the bounds of the oceans and kill off life on land too. The oceans spew hydrogen sulfide and poison the atmosphere, which affects land-based creatures. The oceans will die off worse, much worse, but life on land will not fare too well either, especially life that reproduces slowly, like, say, human beings. So keep your eyes open for unknown foul smells hitting large coastal areas, like the poison gas of unknown origin that recently hit a beach and sickened people in coastal Worthing (Britain), mentioned in the 2019-08-11 update. Unknown foul odors hitting large coastal areas would be a VERY BAD SIGN...

2019-08-30 - Unknown foul odor hits large coastal area, including coastal Wirral, coastal Birkenhead and coastal Liverpool (Britain):
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/horrendous-smell-reported-over-parts-16840843

Quote: "Residents have been left confused by a horrendous smell over parts of Merseyside. People have took to social media today to share their experiences of the 'disgusting' smell. Those living and visiting Birkenhead, Wirral, appear to be the worst affected by the aroma reporting that the 'whole town' stinks. However, people in Liverpool have also reported noticing the foul stench in the city centre."

Quote: "It's getting worse. It smells like both sewer waste and a farmyard at the same time. The smell is everywhere. I can't have the windows open or the door, it's that's bad."

2019-08-30 - Unknown foul odor hits several cities including Bristol, Stoke Gifford, Whitchurch and Barleyfields (Britain), near the coast:
http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/bristol-smell-poo-temple-meads-3265684

Quote: "There is a bad smell around Bristol today (August 30) - and no-one is quite sure what is. From Windmill Hill to Frenchay and Stoke Gifford, people from across the city are reporting unpleasant journeys to work. Bristol Live has been inundated with reports of a 'poo smell' around the city, with it so bad around Temple Meads people have been seen checking their shoes."

Quote: "By 8am, the smell had spread, with reports of the stench spreading to Temple Meads, Old Market, Frenchay, Stoke Gifford, Whitchurch and Barleyfields."

Note: Bristol is a port city near the coast, connected to the ocean via the River Avon. Both the Liverpool area (the first odor incident) and the Bristol area (the second odor incident) are located on the western coast of Britain, the side most likely to be hit by hydrogen sulfide blowing in off the ocean, since winds tend to blow west-to-east due to the rotation of the Earth. That said, the incident where poison gas of unknown origin sickened people at a beach was on the southern coast of Britain, in Worthing, across the English Channel from the coast of France where people and animals have been dying from hydrogen sulfide poisoning. And the incident where 150 people mysteriously sickened at three beaches in Britain, in Essex, was on the eastern coast. Winds do shift, so while western coasts are probably more vulnerable to being hit by poison gas, no coast is safe. Speaking of coasts generally, and western coasts specifically, also see the two young men found mysteriously dead on a beach in Torrance, CA on this day...

2019-08-30 - Passenger plane hit by unknown smell, eye irritant, plane returns to coastal Dublin (Ireland):
http://www.thejournal.ie/aer-lingus-flight-diverted-dublin-smell-4788618-Aug2019/
http://www.buzz.ie/news/lanzarote-bound-flight-forced-return-dublin-due-smell-board-336260

Quote: "The crew had been in contact with the airline’s operations centre and advised them that the cabin crew had detected a smell in the passenger cabin. The flight crew reported that no one had displayed any signs of being affected by the smell but that they would monitor the situation for a while. Soon afterwards, when the Airbus A320-200 jet was about 100 kilometres south of Cork, the flight further advised air traffic control that cabin crew members had reported experiencing some side effects. It’s understood that while the flight attendants were not feeling unwell, they were experiencing ‘watery and itchy eyes’. As a result, the pilot opted to return to Dublin to have the issue investigated."

2019-08-30 - Rising sea level causing damage in coastal Cape Town (South Africa), retreat may will be necessary:

http://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2019-08-30-rising-sea-levels-already-causing-problems-for-cape-town/

Quote: "Sea level rise caused by global warming is already causing damage to public and private coastal property in Cape Town. In some areas retreat to higher ground may be necessary. The coast at Milnerton particularly is being affected by erosion, with the public beach under City of Cape Town jurisdiction already having been washed away by erosion and storm surges. The City is currently assessing options which include a retreat for a section of the coast in Milnerton, says Mayco Member for Spatial Planning and Environment, Marian Nieuwoudt."

  1. Oh man, GREAT find by Panther, corroborating JJFH. Maybe NOW the feckless authorities will WAKE THE FUCK UP and start realizing (or telling the truth about) what's going on. Probably not, but the word is finally getting out (year's late of course, as Panther stated).

Mike had the latest update on Dorian last evening too. Turns out the weather people STILL DON'T KNOW the definite track of the now CAT 5 hurricane. Here's seemorerocks article on this, this morning:

[take this with a sizable dose of salt, as it were, due to the source]

Business interests over public safety in Florida

Claims Hurricane Remains Category 4 Despite Winds of 176 MPH; "Don't want Tourists to Leave Florida Early
    http://robinwestenra.blogspot.com/2019/09/business-interests-over-public-safety.html [source: Hal Turner Show]

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has released its 11:00 PM Hurricane Update and according to furious staffers inside NHC "The report contains deliberate lies to conceal the severity of Hurricane Dorian." In short, these NHC staffers claim the government is withholding the truth because "No one wants tourists to flee Florida early, costing millions in lost business."
According to these NHC staffers who have direct access to Hurricane Hunter aircraft flight data, Dropsonde readings have shown winds in excess of 157 Miles per hour since about 10:00 AM local time in Florida on Saturday morning.
Despite having these readings, the NHC has failed to upgrade Hurricane Dorian to Category 5 because "business interests with powerful political connections have made clear they do not want Tourists fleeing the state when there is some chance the hurricane might turn." Those interests are allegedly flexing their political muscle which has resulted in NHC Administration withholding the accurate Category 5 designation.
Staffers within NHC have said the computer models showing the hurricane taking a sharp turn to the north were dependent upon a cold trough that was SUPPOSED to develop over the Great Lakes. That trough would have affected a ridge of High Pressure over the eastern US, causing it to move out to sea, thus clearing the way for Hurricane Dorian to take it's natural route to the north. Trouble is, they say, the Trough NEVER DEVELOPED.
The ridge of high pressure is situated north of hurricane Dorian and is preventing it from turning northward. The ridge can be seen on the graphic below; it is the brown line to the north of the Hurricane AND THE RIDGE IS HIGHLIGHTED [more]

[we'll see; thing is, it's being reported as a CAT 5 now]

Dorian to hit Bahamas as 'devastating' hurricane, then menace Georgia and Carolinas
    http://robinwestenra.blogspot.com/2019/09/update-on-hurricane-dorian-31-august.html

    CATEGORY 5! 161 MPH

As of 10:40 AM EDT Saturday, August 31, Hurricane Dorian has strengthened to a Category 5 Hurricane, the highest rating, with maximum sustained winds of 158 MPH. Trouble is, the computer models have NO IDEA which way this storm is going. They disagree if there will be landfall in Florida, Georgia, or South Carolina. The models now seem utterly USELESS. The literal Spaghetti model (above) is probably more accurate . .

Weak steering currents & stalling storms should never be trusted.

With 72 hours before Dorian turns north, even a 1 mph error in the storm's speed until then could result in a 72 mile error in how far west Dorian gets.

Stay vigilant. More changes could occur. It's a tough one. [more]

Queensland extinguishes native title over Indigenous land to make way for Adani coalmine
    http://www.fasterthanexpected.com/2019/08/31/palaszczuk-government-did-not-announce-decision-wangan-and-jagalingou-people-say-makes-them-trespassers-on-their-own-land/

The Queensland government has extinguished native title over 1,385 hectares of Wangan and Jagalingou country for the proposed Adani coalmine in Queensland’s Galilee Basin – without any public announcement of the decision.

The decision could see Wangan and Jagalingou protesters forcibly removed by police from their traditional lands, including lands used for ceremonies.

W&J Council leader Adrian Burragubba, and a group of Wangan and Jagalingou representatives, had been calling on the government to rule out transferring their land, arguing they had never given their consent for Adani to occupy their country.

“We have been made trespassers on our own country,” Burragubba said. “Our ceremonial grounds, in place for a time of mourning for our lands as Adani begins its destructive processes, are now controlled by billionaire miner Adani.

Burragubba, whom Adani has bankrupted over costs from legal challenges, said his group would not abandon their protest nor quit their lands. [more; might be time to light up that coal]

It’s getting harder and harder to limit global warming to 2°C – “It is partly this hope in future technologies that delays action”
    https://desdemonadespair.net/2019/08/its-getting-harder-and-harder-to-limit-global-warming-to-2c-it-is-partly-this-hope-in-future-technologies-that-delays-action.html

The road to 2°C is steep; the road to 1.5°C is a cliff.

While it is theoretically possible that we can keep global warming under 1.5°C above pre-industrial temperatures, that task is monumental. In fact, models struggle to generate future scenarios that keep warming below 1.5°C, but can pull temperatures back under 1.5°C after they have overshot that target. Even then, some of these models assume that there has been a global carbon tax in place since 2010 (there has not).

What is required is not only unheard-of cuts in global emissions of greenhouse gases (not just CO2), but also the development of new technologies to pull CO2 out of the air and store it safely again (“negative” emissions). [more]

  3. Trump is raising your taxes today
    https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/trump-tariffs-china-september-1-040027636.html

With far less fanfare than the tax cuts President Donald Trump signed into law in 2017, a series of tax hikes goes into effect today on thousands of everyday items imported from China.

A new tariff of 15% will be added to the cost of more than 40% of all consumer products imported from China on Sept. 1. That amounts to about $109 billion worth of annual imports, according to research firm Panjiva. On Dec.15, the 15% tariff will be assessed on another $155 billion worth of consumer goods from China. At that point, there will be new Trump tariffs on virtually everything imported from China. [more]

Pope urges everyone to change lifestyle to save planet
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/pope-urges-everyone-change-lifestyle-save-planet-112157348.html

Pope Francis called Sunday on individuals across the world to make changes to their daily habits to stop climate change in its tracks, and to put pressure on their leaders "before it's too late".

"We have created a climate emergency, which seriously threatens nature and life, including our own," he said in a message to mark this year's World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.

"This is the time to reflect on our lifestyles and how our daily choices in terms of food, consumption, travel, use of water, energy and many other material goods are often reckless and harmful," the Argentine pontiff wrote.

Francis, a long-time environmental campaigner, said his plea went out to "every member of the human family".

"Let us choose to change, to take on simpler and more respectful lifestyles!" [more; YOU FIRST! lead by example!]

  5. The Labor Day tourists in south Florida should be fine overall because if Dorian does make landfall it won't be until Tuesday afternoon as it looks right now. I just checked Ventusky at 1:10 PM and it is now showing that the storm does NOT make landfall on FL after all. Almost, but not quite. But it is going to take a long time to move from where it is right now. Suffice it to say that that little island it is about to hit directly is going to be totally devastated. It is going to sit on top of it for about a day.

Extreme weather to cut French wine output by 12% this year
    https://www.sott.net/article/419581-Extreme-weather-to-cut-French-wine-output-by-12-this-year

Record-breaking heatwaves in June and July affected some regions in the south, such as the Gard, Herault or Var, causing burns on the grapes and production losses, it said.

By contrast, in some vineyards, early rainfall in August have helped to limit the impact of heat, while hail storms caused damage in the Beaujolais area where, along with Burgundy, output is expected to fall 26% from last year.

Champagne production this year is expected to drop 17% due mainly to hot weather, while Bordeaux output would shed 4%.

By mid-August, French vineyards had mostly caught up their delayed growth compared to 2018, when the harvest was one of the earliest, the ministry said.
