The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

Note: Hydrogen sulfide is reactive with copper, especially electrified copper, like battery cables. So a little gas finds the battery cables, some sparking and sizzling occurs and some plastic insulation starts burning, drips around as it burns, and what do you get? A truck fire, with the fire originating at the battery. The Boeing Dreamliners were grounded because their batteries kept catching fire. They fixed them (probably protected them better from the surrounding atmosphere) and then the battery to the emergency beacon caught fire. It's not batteries themselves that are the problem, but the electrified copper near them, in conjunction with hydrogen sulfide contaminating the atmosphere. It's the same problem causing the escalating number of underground electrical explosions and fires, transformers exploding and burning, porch lights catching fire, lights and heating lamps in barns catching fire, many of the parked vehicles bursting into flame (hydrogen sulfide's reactivity with rust has to be causing some of these too), and so on...
