Event Update For 2016-11-30

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

And now the Annapolis Basin? It could be millions. It could be much more.' Herring has been washing up in St. Mary’s Bay for over a week now and still we are no closer to understanding what is causing it."

Quote: "Herring have washed up on the shore of the eastern end of St. Mary’s Bay, in Weymouth, through Gilbert’s Cove, the head of St. Mary’s Bay, along the shore to Timpany Lane, Griffin Cove and Sandy Cove. Estimated U.S. insured losses due to severe thunderstorms in the first half of 2016 were $8.5 billion. The largest U.S. impacts of tornadoes result from tornado outbreaks, sequences of tornadoes that occur in close succession. Last spring a research team led by Michael Tippett, associate professor of applied physics and applied mathematics at Columbia Engineering, published a study showing that the average number of tornadoes during outbreaks—large-scale weather events that can last one to three days and span huge regions—has risen since 1954. But they were not sure why.

What are 95 million Americans doing out of the labor force?

The November jobs report looked pretty good on the surface except for one number that popped off the page: 95 million.

That's the number of Americans now counted as not in the labor force, a historic high that has confounded economists and policymakers. The total — 95.06 million to be more exact — has been rising consistently but surged by a gaudy 446,000 last month.

Taken together, the numbers show that there's more to meets the eye than a headline unemployment rate of 4.6 percent, the lowest since August 2007. Because that number ignores those not in the labor force, as well as workers at part-time jobs for economic reasons, it doesn't tell the whole story. A broader jobless measure is at 9.3 percent.

The Latest: Death toll rises to 11 in Tennessee wildfires

  6. Woman rescued, 1 still trapped in S.D. building collapse

Two people became trapped Friday after a downtown building collapsed during remodeling, and a woman was rescued about three hours later, emergency crews said.
The woman, who lived in the building and whose name was not immediately released, had been speaking on the phone with her mother as crews worked to clear debris. The other, a construction worker, was making pounding noises to try to communicate with emergency crews, said Jim Sideras, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue chief.
The collapse was reported at around 10:30 a.m. CT Friday. The first to be removed from the rubble was a dog, found at about 1 p.m. and apparently unharmed.
"She can't see daylight, so we know she's covered by debris," Sideras said before the woman was freed. "Our big concern is we don't want this building to shift."

Another concern: The construction worker's pounding stopped.

Mike Klatt was working in Coffea espresso bar when the building collapsed. He saw a few bricks fall first, then the building buckled, followed with a cloud of dust.

"It came down fairly quickly," Klatt said. [more]

[take note, everyone - that's how collapse happens, slow at first then "fairly quickly."]

Beyond the Point of No Return — Imminent Carbon Feedbacks Just Made the Stakes for Global Warming a Hell of a Lot Higher

“It’s fair to say we have passed the point of no return on global warming and we can’t reverse the effects, but certainly we can dampen them,” said biodiversity expert Dr. Thomas Crowther.

“I’m an optimist and still believe that it is not too late, but we urgently need to develop a global economy driven by sustainable energy sources and start using CO2, as a substrate, instead of a waste product.” — Prof Ivan Janssens, recognized as a godfather of the global ecology field.

“…we are at the most dangerous moment in the development of humanity. We now have the technology to destroy the planet on which we live, but have not yet developed the ability to escape it… we only have one planet, and we need to work together to protect it.” — Professor Stephen Hawking yesterday in The Guardian.
