Event Update For 2016-07-24

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Note: Hydrogen sulfide and methane are adsorbing onto matter. Then when fire breaks out, if there's hydrogen sulfide adsorbed onto anything that's burning, the smoke may be poisonous and sometimes lethal. This won't always kill you immediately like this man either. Sometimes hydrogen sulfide poisoning has a delayed reaction of hours or even two or three days before you collapse and die, like the man, firefighter, 42, who fought a fire early in the day then went back to the fire station and dropped dead in the wee hours in North Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), mentioned in the 2016-07-23 update. Obviously this problem doesn't affect only firefighters, but anyone who breathes poison smoke, but because firefighters do tend to breathe smoke more often than most people, they are particularly vulnerable to being struck dead in this way. So, if you know any firefighters of the don't-wanna-die variety, might wanna give them a heads-up...

Great work here, gleaning all these incidents from news sources around the world, showcasing the (now) OBVIOUS predicament we find ourselves in, while the world SLOWLY begins to grasp what's going on. Even research people, like Robert Scribbler, can't seem to get past their normalcy bias to grok the reality of the situation.

  3. [just so I can keep track, this is my third comment today]

Scientists caught off-guard by record temperatures linked to climate change

Record temperatures in the first half of 2016 have taken scientists by surprise despite widespread recognition that extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and intense, the director of the World Climate Research Programme said.

The earth is on track for its hottest year on record with June marking the 14th straight month of record heat, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said last week.

Temperatures recorded mainly in the northern hemisphere in the first six months of the year, coupled with an early and fast Arctic sea ice melt and "new highs" in heat-trapping carbon dioxide levels, point to quickening climate change, it said.

"What concerns me most is that we didn't anticipate these temperature jumps," said David Carlson, director of the WMO's climate research programme, late on Monday.

"We predicted moderate warmth for 2016, but nothing like the temperature rises we've seen," he told the Thomson Reuters Foundation by telephone from Geneva.

"Massive temperature hikes, but also extreme events like floodings, have become the new normal," Carlson said. "The ice melt rates recorded in the first half of 2016, for example - we don't usually see those until later in the year."

He said sudden temperature rises could endanger people, animals and water systems.

Scientists think they've found the origin of all earthly life

Four billion years ago, sometime around Earth's 560 millionth birthday, Luca was born.

Luca is your great-to-an-infinite-degree grandmother and grandfather, as it is your dog's and your goldfish's and your ficus'. Every living thing on Earth owes it existence to Luca, whose very name stands for "Last Universal Common Ancestor." It is the origin of life on Earth, from which the rest of us evolved. And now scientists believe they have mapped a genetic picture of the qualities that would have belonged to Luca, giving us a startling look at how life on Earth might have begun: [read it if interested]
