Note: Here's a Google Maps link of the area. I've warned about this many times: clothes are adsorbing methane and/or hydrogen sulfide. While you might smell hydrogen sulfide, you definitely won't smell methane, since it's odorless. Then your clothes can ignite via static electricity, any heat source, an electronic device, etc, and these fires will burn hot and will frequently be fatal. His clothes probably got contaminated while he was outdoors - right on the coast near where 5 trillion pounds of methane are dissociating, probably not coincidentally - then he came inside, had a seat, ignited and burned to death. That's why his chair wasn't too burned - it hadn't been contaminated like his clothes were...
