Quote: "A case of Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome (POMS) has been confirmed in a second oyster growing region in southern Tasmania."

Note: Sounds a whole lot like the oyster version of 'Sudden Adult Death Syndrome' (SADS), the term used when healthy young people drop dead without any explanation, which the authorities made up when healthy young people started mysteriously dropping dead a few years back. In other words, they don't know what's killing them, so they just call it a 'syndrome' and create an acronym and then people think they know what they're talking about when in fact all they have is a made-up acronym that explains nothing. Might as well just group all the animal/plant/people deaths under SEDS - Suddenly Everything's Dying Syndrome. And again this is more bottom-dwelling life dying off...

2016-02-29 - Seven endangered vultures found dead on the island of Cyprus (Greece):
http://www.sigmalive.com/en/news/local/142230/three-endangered-vultures-found-dead-in-cyprus

Quote: "Preliminary examinations, BirdLife said, showed that the seven vultures had died due to poisoning. 'The first possibility is death by primary poisoning, meaning the birds may have eaten poisoned bait, which is unlikely. The second possibility is death by secondary poisoning, meaning the birds have eaten an animal who had eaten something with poison (e.g. an animal who ate rodenticide). The third possibility is that the birds have eaten an animal which had been treated with non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which are extremely toxic for all vultures and are the main cause of the serious population decline (by 99%) of three vulture species of the Gyps genus during the 1990s in India and whose population have still not recovered,' the organisation said."

Note: And, of course, the fourth possibility - and the simplest explanation of all - is that some deadly poisonous rotten-egg-smelling hydrogen sulfide blew in off the sea and killed them, like the huge clouds of hydrogen sulfide that hit Kuwait City and Moscow, and the toxic gas of unknown origin that sent people puking and fleeing their homes in the middle of the night in coastal Rayong (Thailand), and the rotten-egg odor that hit coastal Quincy (MA), and the foul odor that hit coastal Santa Monica (CA) and coastal Staten Island (NY), and the hydrogen sulfide regularly blowing around near the Salton Sea (CA), and so on and so on and so on...
