Event Update For 2013-02-01
Link to full hypothesis:
http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html
Summary of Hypothesis:
The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.
Predictions:
A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.
Recent Events Matching Predictions:
A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.

http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2013/02/01/tacony-palmyra-bridge-reopened-after-fire/
Note: Well, this is an interesting fire here. Looks like it's concrete that caught on fire at the water line. Maybe hydrogen sulfide absorbed into the concrete? Concrete is absorbent, absorbs water for example, to some degree anyway. And hydrogen sulfide is water-soluble and heavier-than-air so that is a place where you'd expect it to be, at least from time to time. So, looks like even our concrete stuff may burn too, to go along with iron/steel, copper, wood, paper, clothes, plastic, rubber. There probably isn't going to be much sign that we were ever even here in a few decades...

I forgot to ask you about what precautions that you are taking to protect yourself & what you recommend that people do other than not park a vehicle close to one's house (you may have mentioned other things not to do but if so I've forgotten or haven't gotten around to reading it here yet). I plan on taking the batteries out of my van & truck (they are both rusty) which I rarely use anyway.
ReplyDeleteI've been checking out methane & hydrogen sulfide detectors both stationary & portable. Do you own a car & if so where do you park it? Do you take the battery out when it's not in use (an obvious pain to always do I admit but look at the alternative)?
Well, let's see, here are some of the things I am trying:
ReplyDelete1) I had some centrifugal fans and carbon filters laying around, so I am running those non-stop. That would have been too much cost normally, but I already had them, so why not put them to use?
2) I got three ozone generators and I run them non-stop, spread around the house. The ozone should react away at least a good deal of any hydrogen sulfide that infiltrates the house, and also help eliminate any that might get absorbed into absorbent materials (like rugs and carpet seem particularly dangerous, because they rest on the floor).
3) I eat melatonin once per day, since it helps protect the neurology (it's used to treat Parkinsons symptoms, which is a neurological affliction), and because it helps prevent DNA/RNA damage, and the increased UV levels are surely causing some of that.
4) I surrounded the house, as best I could, with plants. Tree, shrubs, whatever. That may help knock any plumes blowing through to the ground, and the gas would then hopefully drain into the sewers and away from me. I was also having probs with plants not doing too well, or dying, so I surrounded their bases with bricks, which would help push any ground-level plumes away from their root systems. (And they all started doing better after I did that.)
5) I spend as little time outdoors as possible, and I wear a hat when I'm outside, so if a plume descends on me, then the hat might make it run off away from my air intake systems (nose/mouth) and eyes. Also, I drive as little as possible. I've been in a car exactly once since April 2012, and that was to vote. I do plan on another trip to get some gardening stuff for the coming growing season though.
6) I covered all my upper windows on the inside with Reflectix insulation and duct tape. Looks like sh#t, but it does actually help with heating/cooling bills, which means the central air/heat runs less, which means less exposure to outside air.
7) My outdoor central AC unit is on a pedestal and is also on the side of the house most shielded from wind, so less exposure to whatever may be blowing through in the atmosphere. I didn't do that; it's just fortunate that it was that way originally. And it's also in a kind of shielded nook too, and the roof doesn't slant toward it, which is again simply another fortunate coincidence.
8) I don't own a car. My significant other does. We only need one, and even BEFORE this problem cropped up, we were only driving about 2500 miles per year. Now it's less than that. She parks on the street, but the house is set back a ways, so it's not ever right next to the car. We have no driveway or garage and though in the past I have wished that we did, now I'm happy we don't, since they wouldn't be any benefit and might be a liability (especially a garage, which is like a small semi-vacant house with a combustion vehicle inside). We don't take the battery out. She doesn't want to, and during our 24 years together, I know which battles I can win and which I can't, and that one isn't a winnable one, sooo...we're takin' chances with that.
Now, I'm not recommending anyone do any of those things. I merely try to provide information, so people can decide what they want to do for themselves. But those are the things that *I* thought were at least worth trying, for myself and my household.
Thanks for the information. I think that you should post this response permanently to give people ideas about what they can do to help protect themselves because most of us will not have too much of a clue what to do (but maybe some people will finally quit smoking now!). Always taking out the car battery when it's not in use is definitely a hassle but a quick-connect system could be built to make it less painful. The surplus outfits like Burdens may have some hardware that could be used.
DeleteI just checked and a company named Wirthco makes quick-connects for batteries which are marketed mainly towards the boaters because they are frequently installing & uninstalling batteries. There are some on Ebay.
