Event Update For 2021-12-06

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2021-12-06 - Oceanic anoxia has caused massive hydrogen sulfide releases during previous extinction events:
http://www.academia.edu/63338070/Massive_release_of_hydrogen_sulfide_to_the_surface_ocean_and_atmosphere_during_intervals_of_oceanic_anoxia

Quote: "Simple calculations show that if deep-water H2S concentrations increased beyond a critical threshold during oceanic anoxic intervals of Earth history, the chemocline separating sulfidic deep waters from oxygenated surface waters could have risen abruptly to the ocean surface (a chemocline upward excursion). Atmospheric photochemical modeling indicates that resulting fluxes of H2S to the atmosphere (>2000 times the small modern flux from volcanoes) would likely have led to toxic levels of H2S in the atmosphere. Moreover, the ozone shield would have been destroyed, and methane levels would have risen to 100 ppm. We thus propose (1) chemocline upward excursion as a kill mechanism during the end-Permian, Late Devonian, and Cenomanian–Turonian extinctions, and (2) persistently high atmospheric levels as a factor that impeded evolution of eukaryotic life on land during the Proterozoic."

Note: The reason the atmospheric methane levels explode when large amounts of hydrogen sulfide are released into the atmosphere is that the hydrogen sulfide reacts away most of the hydroxyl radicals (OH) in the atmosphere, and those are what would normally react away the methane. Without those to react away the methane, the methane levels skyrocket and planetary temperatures then increase radically, causing more oceanic anoxia and more hydrogen sulfide releases, and so on. We have already had some incidences of the chemocline rising abruptly to the surface and releasing accumulated methane and hydrogen sulfide into the atmosphere. Turkey just acquired a research ship this past year to investigate rising hydrogen sulfide levels in the depths of the Black Sea, presumably because they're worried about the sea spontaneously belching up a bunch of hydrogen sulfide and wiping out a city or two or three. This problem has not yet become apocalyptic, but we're obviously heading in that direction. The oceans are currently absorbing about five Hiroshima-scale atomic bombs worth of heat PER SECOND and heat increases anoxia...

Quote: "A man died early Monday in a burning van in Lakewood, fire crews from West Pierce Fire & Rescue said. Two other people in the van were injured and taken to the hospital. Fire crews arrived just after 4 a.m. to the area of 92nd Street South and South Tacoma Way, according to a tweet from West Pierce Fire & Rescue. When crews arrived, the van was fully involved by the fire. The incident was reported after a bystander saw the fire and broke one of the van’s windows. The bystander pulled two people to safety before it got too hot.

2021-12-06 - Wildfires break carbon emission records in the US, Siberia, and Turkey:

Quote: "Climate change is producing more intense wildfires which are, in turn, emitting higher levels of CO2, says the European Union's Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service."

Note: Which will, in turn, cause more intense wildfires, which will, in turn, emit higher levels of CO2, etc etc. This is another self-reinforcing feedback. There are many self-reinforcing feedbacks active now, and they're also all reinforcing not just themselves but each other too. So the challenge isn't merely to 'reduce emissions', but rather to draw down the amount of CO2 and methane in the atmosphere. That means eliminating human emissions entirely while also draining off more CO2 and methane than natural sources are now adding to the atmosphere. That doesn't sound possible to me. The only other options are 1) crazy ideas with unknown consequences; or 2) bend over and kiss our asses goodbye. More than likely we'll try some of option 1, because we have nothing to lose, but ultimately end up with option 2 anyway. Actually, I'm pretty sure we've already begun with the crazy ideas with unknown consequences, but people simply haven't been told because that'd spook the herd...

2021-12-06 - Atmospheric methane levels rising, especially in the Arctic:
http://arctic-news.blogspot.com/2021/12/planetary-extinction-due-to-arctic-atmospheric-methane-veil.html
http://gml.noaa.gov/ccgg/trends_ch4/

Note: Malcolm Light's predicting extinction in 3 years or less. Other scientists have predicted collapse of civilization by around 2040, though not necessarily extinction. Malcolm's prediction seems overly dire, and yet if significant amounts of methane hydrates were to explode out of the ocean suddenly, which is indeed possible, then he might not be far off. That would send the 'catastrophe curve' pretty much suddenly vertical...
