Event Update For 2021-02-24

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

  1. Fucked Up Friday Jonny, Fran, Mike D., Tom N., LL, Terry, FezzedOne, and Panther.

i post a lot of "alternative views" here. Many of them are complete crap - but that's for each of us to decide for themselves. i'm not trying to tell anyone how or what to think and trust that YOU are a critical thinker (especially reading this blog). Seemorerocks, Michael Snyder, and some others (even Jordan Peterson lately) make wild statements of what they believe is the way to interpret events or "evidence." Sometimes i agree with them, but we almost NEVER see their opinions on the msm - so i post them as "the other side." i don't always think they're correct.

i too spout opinion according to MY (flawed) worldview. i try to back it up with evidence, but i always consider that i could be wrong and am willing to change my mind in that case.

i really appreciate you all chiming in with YOUR views, local weather and/or conditions, and articles, as i'm sure Jonny does.

Who will clean up the ‘billion-dollar mess’ of abandoned US oilwells?

“They drill baby drilled themselves right out of business,” Morrison said. “We’re seeing something we’ve never seen before in the oil and gas industry, in terms of the downturn, and there’s going to be a billion-dollar mess to clean up.”

Unplugged wells, either orphaned well, which have no liable party, usually due to bankruptcy, or idle, abandoned ones, where the company has walked away, but could still be liable, cause rampant methane emissions – up to 8% of US total according to a 2014 analysis. They also leak brine, oil and fracking fluid into the groundwater, and carcinogenic gases, like benzine, into the air, and as their numbers increase the impacts grow. [more]

Scientists see stronger evidence of slowing Atlantic Ocean circulation, an ‘Achilles’ heel’ of the climate

A growing body of evidence suggests that a massive change is underway in the sensitive circulation system of the Atlantic Ocean, a group of scientists said Thursday.

The Atlantic meridional overturning circulation (AMOC), a system of currents that includes the Florida Current and the Gulf Stream, is now “in its weakest state in over a millennium,” these experts say. This has implications for everything from the climate of Europe to the rates of sea-level rise along the U.S. East Coast. [more]

Has The Great Shaking Of The Financial Markets Finally Begun?

A whole host of prominent voices have been warning that volatility and chaos would be returning to Wall Street, and that is precisely what has happened. But is this just a temporary blip, or has the great shaking of the financial markets finally begun? Many stock market investors are very much hoping for the former, because the pain is already becoming quite severe. The Nasdaq has fallen more than 5 percent this week, and it is headed for its second consecutive weekly loss. But the bond market has actually been making even bigger news. On Thursday, the yield on 10-year U.S. Treasuries actually exceeded 1.6% at one point, and that was the highest level that we have seen in quite a long time. Some pundits are calling what just took place a “flash crash”, but it certainly appears that yields could move even higher in the days ahead.

Throughout the COVID pandemic, stock prices have just gone higher and higher, but everyone knew that the party would end eventually.

Have we now reached that point? The numbers tell us that Thursday was the single worst day for stocks so far in 2021… [more; i assume financial news/opinion won't bother anyone]

    1. I've decided that I am not doing the comments anymore. Reading or posting. Most of your comments are relatable, but it is irritating when some nonsense from Q and/or some evangelical fundamentalist is woven into the fabric. What any of it has to do with climate catastrophe, weather, JJFH, the economy, or human extinction I don't know. I'll never know.

But do keep on posting whatever you like. I won't ever read them again. I guess it's just the old 'I don't play well with others' factor cropping up again. I quit doing comments on everyone's YT sites last year for this same basic reason. I don't belong.

  3. [Mr. Evil]
Google’s Eric Schmidt & The Artificial Intelligence Military-Industrial Complex

The simple fact that the AI Commission is led by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt should trouble those who care for privacy, accountability, transparency, and individual liberty.

In late January, the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence (NSCAI), or the AI Commission, released a draft of their upcoming report to Congress, rejecting calls to ban AI-powered autonomous weapons, characterized by critics as “killer robots”. While the AI Commission did briefly address privacy and civil liberties concerns, they ultimately called on Congress to double AI research and funding annually up to $32 billion a year by 2026. The report also failed to note clear conflicts of interest between the Commission’s Chairman, and former Google CEO, Eric Schmidt.

The report correctly points a finger at China’s authoritarianism and AI-driven surveillance state. However, the draft also attempts to paint the U.S. as a “liberal democracy” that uses such technologies for “legitimate public purposes…. compatible with the rule of law.” The implication is that the enemies of the U.S. could use this technology for tyrannical purposes, but the U.S. and its allies would only ever use AI in the interest of preserving liberty.

“A responsible democracy must ensure that the use of AI by the government is limited by wise restraints to comport with the rights and liberties that define a free and open society,” reads the draft. “The U.S. government should develop and field AI-enabled technologies with adequate transparency, strong oversight, and accountability to protect against misuse.”

Taken at face value, these statements might offer a sense of reassurance. Unfortunately, we are speaking about the U.S. government and military, and these institutions do not have a history of transparency or accountability. Even more worrisome is the drafts mention of the “urgent need” to use AI for national security purposes, particularly against “foreign and domestic terrorists operating within our borders.” The draft encourages the DOD not to pursue their counter-terrorism goals without ensuring that “security applications of AI conform to core values of individual liberty and equal protection under law.” [more]

  5. Families stranded, freight train detrails as more than 19 inches of rain lashes New South Wales, Australia

Residents have been stranded on the roofs of their homes in the NSW Mid North Coast, after more than 500 millimetres of rain fell in some areas.

The State Emergency Service was inundated with calls about 2:00am, predominantly from Corindi, 36 kilometres north of Coffs Harbour.

"The amount of rainfall just hasn't been able to get away and that entire Corindi floodplain area has come up rapidly and caught a lot of people unawares at that hour of the morning," said SES Coffs Harbour deputy unit commander Martin Wells.

Indeed, you would not know that there was a "Covid pandemic." This indicates that the Covid pandemic is an orchestrated hoax with ulterior motives.

    Disinformation in the mainstream media.

Tucker Carlson: The Left's Far-Reaching Disinformation Program

One of the most unintentionally hilarious moments in cable news history happened last night during a lengthy segment Tucker Carlson did on disinformation in the mainstream media.

In his commentary, the popular Fox News host took aim at CNN and MSNBC in particular for peddling fake news about police shootings, pointing out how such disinformation “is an offense against this country, an attack on America and, more critically, on something called our ‘norms.'”

At one point during the segment, Carlson talked about how a research paper from the Skeptic Research Center found that a large percentage of liberals believed “1,000 or more than 1,000 unarmed African-Americans were gunned down” by police officers in 2019. The actual number, he pointed out, was 27. With that in mind, Carlson then noted he went on a search to find out where people might have gotten the disinformation about police shootings.

“Who is lying to America,” Carlson asked, “in ways that are certain to make us hate each other and certain to destroy our core institutions?” [~ 2 min. clip]

The answer, he said, was cable news outlets like CNN and MSNBC and Democratic politicians talking on TV and spreading harmful disinformation about police shootings. He then played clips of them perpetuating false narratives that have further inflamed tensions, which some have alleged helped motivate BLM/Antifa-led agitators to riot, loot, and burn down buildings and target federal courthouses last year.
