Event Update For 2019-12-19

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

And the day before that, a person was found dead in the Cumberland River in Nashville, mentioned in the 2019-12-16 update. Las Vegas blaze that kills 6 considered 'worst fire fatality' in Fire Department's history
    https://www.yahoo.com/gma/5-dead-13-injured-apartment-building-fire-downtown-170900042--abc-news-topstories.html

An early morning fire that left six people dead and 13 others injured is being considered "the worst fire fatality" in Las Vegas Fire Department history, officials said.

The three-story building on Ogden Street and Stewart Avenue in the downtown area went up in smoke about 4:15 a.m., said Timothy Szymanski, the public information officer with the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.

The fire seemed to spark inside an apartment on the first floor and was put out quickly, the official said. [more]

U.S. government says verdict in Bayer's Roundup case should be reversed
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/u-government-says-verdict-bayers-204405331.html

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Justice Department said a federal appeals court should reverse a lower court verdict finding Bayer AG liable in the case of a California man who blamed its Roundup weed killer for his cancer.

The government said in a friend of the court brief filed on Friday that glyphosate, the weed killer's active ingredient, is not a carcinogen and as a result a warning on the label was not required as California state law demands.

    [ah-you fah-kin' kid-din' me? YOU drink it!]

In April, the EPA reaffirmed that glyphosate does not cause cancer.

Farmers spray glyphosate, the most widely used herbicide in U.S. agriculture, on fields of soybeans and other crops that are genetically engineered to resist it. Roundup is also used by consumers on lawns, golf courses and elsewhere. [more]

Health officials in eastern Congo have documented the first relapse in the current Ebola epidemic, the World Health Organization said on Friday.

The Ebola outbreak in Democratic Republic of Congo has so far infected more than 3,300 people and killed more than 2,200 since the middle of last year, making it the second-worst on record.

A Mexican indigenous town's environmental revolt
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/mexican-indigenous-towns-environmental-revolt-014830408.html

When illegal logging turned their green, pine-covered hills into an ecological wasteland, the people of the Mexican indigenous town of Cheran decided to arm themselves with rifles and reclaim their land.

Today, eight years after rising up against illegal loggers and the drug cartel behind them, Cheran is practically an independent enclave tucked into the lawless mountains of western Mexico.

Its residents have their own system of government based on community assemblies. They have their own police force. [more]

U.S. rolls back standards on energy saving light bulbs
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/u-rolls-back-obama-era-184657331.html

The Trump administration on Friday said it has finalized a decision to roll back a 2007 rule calling for energy-efficient light bulbs, a move that states including New York and California are challenging in the courts.

The NRDC said old-fashioned incandescent bulbs, which give off more of their energy in heat rather than light, comprise nearly half of today's bulb sales.

"The Trump administration just thumbed its nose at Congress, America’s families and businesses, and the environment,” said Noah Horowitz, an energy efficiency specialist at the NRDC. [more; ah come-on, we're already livin' on borrowed time!]

Aussie Bushfire Update No 11: Fire-generated thunderstorms reported: Friday again the hottest place on the planet: Many Fires started deliberately! (what about the 1896 heatwave?)

NSW Fire Service reported today that fire-generated thunderstorms are forming over the Currowan and Tianjara fires. New form of uranium found that could affect nuclear waste disposal plans
    http://www.fasterthanexpected.com/2019/12/20/new-form-of-uranium-found-that-could-affect-nuclear-waste-disposal-plans/

Many governments are planning to dispose of radioactive waste by burying it deep underground. However, new research has found that in such storage conditions a new chemical form of uranium can temporarily occur, while small amounts of uranium are released into solution. If uranium is in solution, it could make its way into groundwater.

[activists tried explaining this to authorities at public hearings before 3 Mile Island was built]

Shaw explains that wherever you bury these disposal units, there will be a wide variety of microbes living under the ground as well. Since no man-made barrier can be expected to withstand degradation for hundreds of thousands of years, radioactive waste will be in contact with groundwater containing these microbes and the chemicals they produce.[more]

History’s Largest Mining Operation Is About to Begin
    http://www.fasterthanexpected.com/2019/12/20/historys-largest-mining-operation-is-about-to-begin/

Today, many of the largest mineral corporations in the world have launched underwater mining programs. On the west coast of Africa, the De Beers Group is using a fleet of specialized ships to drag machinery across the seabed in search of diamonds. In 2018, those ships extracted 1.4 million carats from the coastal waters of Namibia; in 2019, De Beers commissioned a new ship that will scrape the bottom twice as quickly as any other vessel. Another company, Nautilus Minerals, is working in the territorial waters of Papua New Guinea to shatter a field of underwater hot springs lined with precious metals, while Japan and South Korea have embarked on national projects to exploit their own offshore deposits. But the biggest prize for mining companies will be access to international waters, which cover more than half of the global seafloor and contain more valuable minerals than all the continents combined.
