The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Farmers up north are counting the cost of a freak hail storm on Sunday that has all but destroyed this year's fruit harvest. Estimates so far point to over €20 million in damages in just one borough.
Motorways were brought to a halt, there was localised flooding, but worst of all was the damage to this year's fruit crops, including vines.

A six-year-old girl died after she was mauled by stray dogs and hospitals refused to treat her.
Hospital after hospital refused to admit her and referred her to another hospital after first aid. The girl died at Niloufer Hospital, where she was finally admitted.
The police said she was attacked by stray dogs around 11 am that left her severely injured. Her parents took her to a private hospital where her wounds were cleaned.
However, after seeing the severity of the injuries, the girl was sent to another private hospital in an ambulance, where the girl was treated for a couple of hours. As the health of the girl was deteriorating, she was sent to Yashoda Hospital, which allegedly refused to treat her after seeing her injuries.
After the girl developed severe fever, she was taken to Niloufer Hospital, a children speciality hospital in Hyderabad, where she died within hours at 6 pm. [more]

Those who experiment with magic mushrooms and LSD often describe a dissolution of the self, otherwise known as ego-death, ego-loss, or ego-disintegration.
For some, the experience is life-changing; for others, it's downright terrifying.
In a double-blind, placebo-controlled experiment, neuroscientists carefully analysed what happens to glutamate levels and a person's ego when taking psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms.
Using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to monitor the brains of 60 healthy volunteers, the team found significant changes in activity in both the cortex and the hippocampus in those taking psilocybin.
Glutamate is the most common neurotransmitter in the brain, and it's known to be critical for fast signalling and information, especially in the cortex and hippocampus, the latter of which is thought to play a role in self esteem.
It also looks like psychedelics have a way of tapping into this system.
Interestingly enough, in the new clinical study, these two regions of the brain had quite different glutamate responses to psilocybin. While the authors found higher levels of glutamate in the prefrontal cortex during a trip, they actually found lower levels of glutamate in the hippocampus.
What's more, this may have something to do with whether a person has a good experience with their ego or a bad one. [more]

What was once Tropical Storm "Amanda" -- the first named storm of the 2020 Pacific hurricane season -- emerged in the Bay of Campeche and strengthened into a Tropical Depression Three at 21:00 UTC on June 1, 2020. The depression is expected to bring heavy rainfall to portions of southern Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, which could cause life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides. Tropical storm conditions are expected along the coast of Mexico where a tropical storm warning is in effect. The system is forecast to begin moving northward across the Gulf of Mexico later this week. However, it is too soon to specify the location and timing of any potential impacts along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
