Event Update For 2018-05-06

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Quote: "A swarm of earthquakes shook southern El Salvador on Sunday, damaging nearly 200 homes and touching off small landslides, but there were no reports of serious injuries or deaths. The U.S. Geological Survey said at least nine quakes of magnitude 4.3 or greater struck the region beginning in the morning, including three of magnitude 5.2 to 5.6. Civil defense director Jorge Melendez said at a news conference that 11 homes were destroyed and considerable damage was done to 180 more."

Quote: "Melendez said one of the quakes unleashed landslides on a highway leading to Playa El Cuco, one of the most visited tourist beaches in the area. USGS geophysicist Don Blakeman said the earlier quakes were likely foreshocks to the magnitude 5.6 event, which hit just after 1 p.m. local time. Its epicenter was located offshore in the Pacific, about 8 miles (12 kilometers) from the town of Intipuca, at a depth of 6 miles (10 kilometers)."

  1. Watching it all disappear, here we are still able to comment about it all (before it's our turn). For example, it's kind of ironic when a home is destroyed by a garage fire near Torch Lake (loose translation of Lac du Flambeau - could also be Lake of Fire).

"Natural" disasters, such as the many earthquakes, sinkholes, floods, droughts, hail, flooding and drought are being supplemented (and, some would argue, exacerbated) by climate change-driven effects. As Jonny points out, the fossil fuel based noxious, corrosive gases permeating our atmosphere cause damage to concrete and metal, as well as plant life and human cellular problems. From this we can expect bridge and building collapses, vegetation problems due to chemical imbalances, and disease and respiratory troubles in animals (including humans).

Taken together with the on-going other atmospheric, biologic, chemical and physical problems becoming continually worse, it's no great leap to human extinction (and most of life on Earth) due to lack of food, clean water and loss of habitat for it all.

We haven't stressed the political, economic and social troubles that are also a result of our living the way we do, and we could crash our civilization (and life) via ANY KIND of nuclear war "ahead of schedule." In fact, it's been shown that simple supply chain interruption of food and basic necessities would also begin a chain reaction event that takes down the global system.

So we're being "boxed in" by a NUMBER of converging factors, and it won't be long (certainly WAY before 2100) before it all ends.

    Let's see what today brings:

If such high temperatures over this typically-frozen part of our world continue for much longer than a couple of weeks at this key time of year, precipitous summer melt is sure to follow. http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2018/05/new-antarctic-process-contributing-to.html

A new Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS)-led study has revealed a previously undocumented process where melting glacial ice sheets change the ocean in a way that further accelerates the rate of ice melt and sea level rise.
Led by IMAS PhD student Alessandro Silvano and published in the journal Science Advances, the research found that glacial meltwater makes the ocean’s surface layer less salty and more buoyant, preventing deep mixing in winter and allowing warm water at depth to retain its heat and further melt glaciers from below.
