And this: 'Because no useful data on acute inhalation toxicity are available on which to base the IDLH for methyl mercaptan, the chosen IDLH is based on an analogy with hydrogen sulfide.' Sure, real harmless. The government says to treat methyl mercaptan as if it were hydrogen sulfide, since the symptoms of poisoning are the same and in fact it is made with hydrogen sulfide, which is why it has a 'rotten egg' odor. So this company spewed a bunch of deadly poison gas into the air and the Westmoreland County Department of Public Safety is telling people it's harmless. They should fill a room with 0.1% methyl mercaptan and see how many public safety employees want to spend five minutes in that room demonstrating how harmless it is...

The town, which is about 400 km away from Winnipeg, has issued a warning to its residents after 'a major break in it's water pumping and distribution system.' They said Sunday that pressure in the system has been reduced and a total loss of water throughout the town is imminent. There is not currently a boil water advisory, but all local residential and commercial properties are being asked to reduce water consumption as officials work to locate the source of the problem. The town is expected to run out of its supply at some point Sunday."
