Event Update For 2018-01-04

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2018-01-04 - Oceanic oxygen levels dropping all across the planet:

http://www.esf.edu/communications/view.asp?newsID=7121
http://science.sciencemag.org/content/359/6371/eaam7240

Quote: "In the past 50 years, the amount of water in the open ocean with zero oxygen has gone up more than fourfold. In coastal water bodies, including estuaries and seas, low-oxygen sites have increased more than 10-fold since 1950. Scientists expect oxygen to continue dropping even outside these zones as Earth warms."

Quote: "Low oxygen also can trigger the release of dangerous chemicals such as nitrous oxide, a greenhouse gas up to 300 times more powerful than carbon dioxide, and toxic hydrogen sulfide."

Note: That's what I said six years ago. And since then the number of rotten-egg-smelling unknown 'gas odor' events has been climbing, especially in coastal areas, but elsewhere too. The oceans and all the traditional sources of hydrogen sulfide have begun spewing more and more hydrogen sulfide into the atmosphere. That's what has wiped out life on this planet before and it's going to do the same thing this time...

2018-01-04 - Hydrogen sulfide blowing around in coastal Goleta (California), meeting scheduled for Jan 10:

http://www.independent.com/pr/2018/jan/03/city-goleta-hosts-community-meeting-noxious-odors/

Quote: "A bad smell in West Goleta is the subject of an upcoming meeting. Hydrogen sulfide is creating a rotten egg odor in the Ellwood Canyon Area, where there are natural seeps as well as oil and agriculture work. Goleta city leaders want to tell locals what steps they can take if they smell a noxious odor. The meeting is Wednesday, January 10 at 6 p.m. at Ellwood School."

http://www.mcall.com/news/police/mc-pol-allentown-gas-odor-lehigh-st-closed-20180104-story.html

Quote: "Two blocks of Lehigh Street in Allentown’s south side were blocked off from traffic Thursday night after a passer-by reported smelling natural gas in the neighborhood. City fire officials found nothing unusual. UGI, the gas company, sent a crew that took several hours more to make a complete check of the area. The gas odor was reported shortly after 6 p.m. on Lehigh Street between Sixth and Eighth streets. Firefighters took readings at houses on the street, but nothing dangerous was found. 'They checked all the homes in those two blocks,' fire Capt. John Christopher said. 'They checked 30 homes and they found no gas inside the structures.'"

Note: They aren't going to detect hydrogen sulfide with natural gas detectors. Ya gotsta use the right tool for the job!

  1. Today is a busy one for my granddaughter. She has basketball practice this morning (I just got back from dropping her off), after which she takes her driver's test, and following that she has a 4 hour shift at the supermarket in her town. I have to provide transportation, the car for the test (her parents are both long-haul truckers and are currently out of town), and fill out paperwork for her test. It'll be this afternoon before I can post my usual compilation of tragedy and such.

    But here's some for now.

Sea recedes in unusually strong syzygy in Santa Elena, Ecuador
    https://www.sott.net/article/373204-Sea-recedes-in-unusually-strong-syzygy-in-Santa-Elena-Ecuador

After the powerful hailstorm that buried several cars in ice in Biblian, another strange phenomenon occurred on the coast of Ecuador. After several months, the strange phenomenon of the 'disappearing sea' has been reported again by frightened fishermen in Santa Rosa, a small port located in the province of Santa Elena, Ecuador. Yes, the sea receded 'a little more than normal', stranding at least 800 fishing boats on January 3, 2018 as well as two days before.

Although known as 'Aguaje' or 'Syzygy Tides' to fishermen in Ecuador, the intensity of the creepy natural phenomenon was unprecedented and unusually strong on January 3, 2018. The sea has returned now, but again more slowly than normal. [more]

Maine Town Wins Round in Tar Sands Oil Battle With Industry
    https://insideclimatenews.org/news/05012018/south-portland-maine-oil-sands-pipeline-local-control-environmentalists

A federal judge has handed a win to South Portland, Maine over a pipeline company that wants to send tar sands oil through the city, a proposal seen as opening a path for Canada's crude to reach the East Coast for export.

But the fight is not over. A federal district court judge dismissed on Dec. 29 all but one of the company's claims against the city. The ruling still leaves open a key question: whether the city is violating the U.S. Constitution by blocking the project.

At the heart of the lawsuit is the question of local control and what—if anything—a community can do to block an unwanted energy project. [more]

  3. She passed her driver's test, which should take my chauffeuring job away soon. It was nice while it lasted.

We're heading into the coldest day in PA in quite a while, from tonight through tomorrow night. Brutally low single digits, low of -1 F tonight, with sustained wind of ~ 15 mph, making the wind chill range from 0 to 15 below zero tonight. Unprotected skin can become frostbitten in as little as a half hour. Though sunny by tomorrow afternoon with a high of ~ 18 F, the wind chill will be ~ 9 below zero. Sunday night, a low of 11 F is forecast and the wind is supposed to diminish. Monday, though, it warms up to about freezing, so we have a good possibility of light snow, freezing rain and sleet - which just makes driving treacherous.
Tuesday we finally go back to a downright "balmy" high of ~ 40 F and a low of only 21! Woo-hoo! The end is in sight! My heater has been running non-stop for days now.

Melted roads and bushfires strike Australia during catastrophic heatwave
    https://www.sott.net/article/373261-Melted-roads-and-bushfires-strike-Australia-during-catastrophic-heatwave

Emergency services in southeast Australia are warning people to stay indoors as a dangerous heatwave batters the country, with temperatures so high that the asphalt on some roads has been melting.

The "catastrophic" hot weather caused a 10km stretch of the Hume Highway, near the Victoria state capital Melbourne, to become soft and sticky, causing havoc for motorists trying to enter the city.

Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania have now declared a total fire ban after blazes on the outskirts of Melbourne raged out of control, destroying buildings and threatening lives.

It took a team of 300 firefighters, 50 trucks and three helicopters to tackle one fire in Victoria's Carrum Downs on Saturday, which threatened dozens of homes.

And another 49 bushfires are said to have been reported across the state - although many were small and easily extinguished - with 400 residencies losing power. [more]
