Event Update For 2017-01-18

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Note: This dog was lucky someone saw this fire and was able to save it. Children have burned to death in cars in recent times because parents ran inside a home or store or whatever for 'just a minute'. Well, that's all it takes to kill someone trapped in a burning car, and now that cars are randomly-igniting firebombs that can go off at any time, it's extremely risky to leave any living being inside a car, even for a minute. It's also risky to park cars near your residence, since they're going up in flames regularly while parked too, and even if you survive that, you could easily lose your home and everything in it, as many people have...

A second quake with a magnitude of 5.7 hit the same area about 50 minutes later, and 10 minutes later a third was measured at magnitude 5.3. Several hours later another 5.1-magnitude quake shook the same area. Throughout the day, seismologists registered more than 100 aftershocks."

Scientists race to save U.S. government climate data from Trump
    http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2017/01/scientists-race-to-save-us-government.html

At 10 AM the Saturday before inauguration day, on the sixth floor of the Van Pelt Library at the University of Pennsylvania, roughly 60 hackers, scientists, archivists, and librarians were hunched over laptops, drawing flow charts on whiteboards, and shouting opinions on computer scripts across the room. They had hundreds of government web pages and data sets to get through before the end of the day—all strategically chosen from the pages of the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration—any of which, they felt, might be deleted, altered, or removed from the public domain by the incoming Trump administration.

Their undertaking, at the time, was purely speculative, based on travails of Canadian government scientists under the Stephen Harper administration, which muzzled them from speaking about climate change. Researchers watched as Harper officials threw thousands of books of aquatic data into dumpsters as federal environmental research libraries closed.
But three days later, speculation became reality as news broke that the incoming Trump administration’s EPA transition team does indeed intend to remove some climate data from the agency’s website. That will include references to President Barack Obama’s June 2013 Climate Action Plan and the strategies for 2014 and 2015 to cut methane, according to an unnamed source who spoke with Inside EPA. “It’s entirely unsurprising,” said Bethany Wiggin, director of the environmental humanities program at Penn and one of the organizers of the data-rescuing event. 7. A lifelong buddy of mine surprised me by dropping by unexpectedly with 2 tix to the Sixers vs Portland (a playoff team). Sixers hang with them but are down by 13 at the half. The building is packed to the rafters since they've won their last at least 5 games and people are startin' to notice.

They start the 2nd half with big defense, not allowing any points and scrabbling back to a 5 point game. Well, to cut to the chase, with 4.5 sec left a Sixer drains a sweet 3 pointer to go up by ONE point, an the game ends. The stadium was bedlam. You can't BUY a finish like that.

  8. Glad you got to see an exciting game! I have bad luck at attending games - the team I want to win always loses. Always. Every time in my life, no exceptions. So to do my teams a favor, I don't go watch them anymore! Heh.

The most exciting basketball game I ever saw was the Bulls-Jazz game during the playoffs during Michael Jordan's comeback, after his stint as a mediocre-or-worse baseball player, watched it on TV. It was Game 6, the Bulls up 3 games to 2. Jordan was all sweaty and sickly with the flu, but playing hard anyway. As the game came to a close, the Jazz were up by 2 points with seconds left AND they had the ball. Somehow Jordan just WILLED a victory from the jaws of defeat, snatched the ball from good ball-handler Malone, took one step and launched a 3-pointer from waaaay downtown, drained it, and the Bulls won the series with that basket, 4 games to 2.
