Event Update For 2017-01-17

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2017-01-17 - Hydrogen sulfide leaking from sewers in coastal Warwick (Rhode Island), smoke test to be performed:

Quote: "The mystery cause of odors from sewer lines along Cedar Swamp Road, a long-time source of area residents’ complaints, may soon be uncovered as the Warwick Sewer Authority (WSA) conducts a 'smoke test' of the system there. Janine Burke-Wells, WSA’s Executive Director, said her office has received complaints about odors in the area for the last nine years. In fall of 2011, a sewer line on Cedar Swamp Road, corroded by hydrogen sulfide, collapsed. The corrosive gas, which smells like rotten eggs, also generated complaints from neighbors. Following the collapse, the WSA installed odor control chemicals at three pump stations, removed an obstruction that was causing hydrogen sulfide buildup, adjusted pumping frequencies to prevent stagnant wastes, flushed the lines there, added carbon filters and sent staff to investigate complaints. Those efforts were focused on controlling the odors. Now, 'We would like to prevent the odors, if possible,' she said."

Note: I wonder how many people in this area have dropped dead from heart attacks, strokes and brain aneurysms in the last few years...

Note: And another. As the world warms, more moisture enters the atmosphere, and as the methane around the world spews into the atmosphere, it breaks down into CO2 and H20, adding yet more water to the atmosphere. The result is more high-precip events, more snow where it's cold, more rain where it's warm. The methane will cause yet more warming, releasing even more methane and the additional warming will cause yet more water vapor to enter the atmosphere, so high-precip events are going to be getting continuously worse from now on, as they already have been for some time...

  4. American Airlines employees are mysteriously getting sick and the company can't figure out why

In recent months, large numbers of American Airlines flight attendants have mysteriously fallen ill with symptoms ranging from throat and eye irritation to headaches and vertigo. Many associated with the airline believe this is the result of the new uniforms the American introduced in September. [not to mention all the passengers that are fuckin' DYING while flying]

This Is What Really Happens When Oxygen Masks Drop on an Airplane

. . the aircraft only has enough oxygen to provide a flow for “several minutes,” which is a lot shorter time than most believed. The masks are only meant to keep passengers supplied with oxygen until a pilot is able to bring the aircraft down.

Airplanes don’t carry oxygen tanks above every single seat—that would be far too heavy. Instead, the panel above each seat includes a mixture of all sorts of chemicals that, when burned, create oxygen. (Some passengers report smelling burning when the oxygen masks fall. Don’t worry: It’s not the plane, it’s the creation of oxygen.)

Toni Anderson had just left her job as a server at Chrome, a Kansas City strip club, and was heading to meet friends when a North Kansas City officer pulled her over for an improper lane change, reports the Kansas City Star. Anderson reportedly told the officer she was almost out of gas. The officer gave Anderson a warning and watched as she drove to a nearby gas station, a North Kansas City police spokesman told the paper.

Anderson never showed up to meet her friends after work, and she was reported missing. [more]

  6. Food Disruption, Climate Change, and Ocean Sources of Food: Part 1 of 3

[from our favorite nerd, Paul Beckwith]

    Published on Jan 18, 2017
I tell the story of how our global food supply, derived from land and ocean, is being severely stressed by climate change caused extreme weather events, ocean warming, acidification and stratification. Destructive farming practices, overfishing and poor aquaculture practices are also exacerbating the problem.

Abrupt climate change cannot be dismissed any longer. We are in a global climate change emergency, and very soon it will severely stress large portions of our global food supply leading to global societal chaos.

  7. Here's a great quote from someone you've read many times, Jonny

"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”
