Event Update For 2015-10-20

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2015-10-20 - Some people design radio-laser atmospheric methane destruction system:

Quote: "I and some other workers have designed a radio-laser Atmospheric methane destruction system based on the early Russian radio-wave induced conversion of methane to nano-diamonds. This radio-laser system can be installed on nuclear powered boats such as the 40 Russian Arctic ice breakers and start immediate work on destroying the atmospheric methane clouds that are building up in the Arctic."

Note: Sounds good to me! Hydroxyl radicals would react away both methane AND hydrogen sulfide too. This is no real solution though, unfortunately, because even if it works, it will only work on the gases in the atmosphere, which means the oceans and seas will still be thoroughly contaminated and turned into giant poison-spewing factories, and that will eventually wipe out oxygen-using life on Earth, just as has happened before in Earth's past. On the other hand, this could buy us some time, which is obviously better than NOT buying us some time...

Note: I mentioned these two brothers in the 2015-06-12 update when the second brother died. At the time they were trying to blame methane for their deaths but I explained why that was unlikely and said it was more likely hydrogen sulfide that killed them. Quoting myself: "It's much more likely that it was hydrogen sulfide that killed them, since methane is a lighter-than-air gas and the manhole was open, so methane would just flow right out, but hydrogen sulfide, commonly called 'sewer gas', is a heavier-than-air gas and would not escape if the manhole was open."

  1. To me it's the only way to "greet the day," Jonny - coming here and reading about what changed in the past few days and the continuing damage being done by these escaping gases. If it hasn't gotten close to you yet, dear reader, don't think you're immune or somehow protected (or live in a "special" setting that won't be touched). For one thing, it would be wise to look closer because the changes are happening slowly and silently - like trees dying and soil becoming sterile.

Secondly, these gases blow around via the jet stream and by air masses, so they may be somewhat erratic and unpredictable. Nobody expects a manhole to suddenly blow up into the air from the pavement while they're walking down the street, but it's happening. The blackouts due to exploding electrical infrastructure are becoming more regular now, as is the results of these gases eroding and compromising concrete bridges and buildings. Things are collapsing, but not yet at an overwhelming rate - but that's rapidly approaching. Long vacant homes are exploding and burning - that have no electrical or gas service! Cars, planes, pretty much any vehicle can erupt into flame instantaneously now. If that doesn't cause one some stress, they're oblivious of the new normal.

Thanks for another super update Jonny.

  2. And Alaska just burned like mad this past year. I bet the permafrost is already thawing there, at least somewhat, maybe just in pockets so far. I bet before long we see some of those methane explosion craters in Alaska just like we're already seeing in Siberia, and Siberia's also been burning hard too, for at least the last 2 or 3 years. I can't see much reason for Alaska to lag too far behind, especially with that huge warm water 'blob' off the West Coast and the 'methane veil' spreading southward from the Arctic.
