Event Update For 2014-08-30

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2014-08-30 - Widespread 'gas odor' reported in Chester, Bucks, Delaware and Montgomery counties (Pennsylvania):
http://6abc.com/news/strong-odor-in-pa-counties-prompts-over-600-calls-to-peco/288054/
http://www.philly.com/philly/news/PECO_crews_probe_gas_odor_in_Delaware_Montgomery_counties.html
http://www.wopular.com/peco-crews-probe-gas-odor-delaware-montgomery-counties

Quote: "The utility company had received more than 400 calls from residents reporting the smell as of 4 p.m. Saturday, spokeswoman Jackie Thompson said. Some of the reports originated in Chester and Bucks counties, but the increased call volume has been mainly comprised of reports from residents in Delaware and Montgomery counties, Thompson said. Emergency dispatch centers and fire departments in Delaware and Montgomery counties have also reportedly been inundated with calls reporting a gas odor. Despite the volume of reports, no leaks had been located Saturday evening, Thompson said."

Note: By 'gas odor' they mean the 'rotten egg' odor of mercaptan, which is added so that odorless natural gas has any smell at all. But hydrogen sulfide also smells like 'rotten eggs' at low concentrations, so people will confuse the two smells, and they are. No gas leaks found, so it wasn't natural gas. So this was very likely hydrogen sulfide blowing through this area, a big cloud but low in concentration. Now it will flow to low-lying areas in that area and concentrate, creating much smaller but potentially much more deadly invisible clouds of gas that will then blow on with the wind, adsorbing here and there onto wood and cardboard and trash and tires and whatnot...

  1. From that corn silo fire - the farm animals will be treated to "all you can eat" popcorn this month . . .

How's the freight train hitting the car an example of JJFH? This happens a lot because car drivers routinely think they can beat the train across the intersection.

i think it's National Preparation Day (what's prepareathon - a Greek dish?): it'll be interesting to see what we're prepping for.

    1. Well, trains push the air ahead of them, and they're often in valleys gouged out of the Earth, for fuel efficiency. So I've been noticing a lot of vehicles slamming into trains, possibly with brake problems as they approach, and also what seems to be more vehicles just stalling out at the tracks (or maybe sometimes the driver has lost consciousness, hard to tell when they're dead). Anyway, more train accidents seems like a logical thing to expect, so I throw them in here and there, though I don't search for them specifically - just come across them. It's more eye-opening when it's a passenger bus slamming into a train and killing and injuring a bunch of people, like that crash in Canada, but other vehicles will have problems too.

  2. Dunno about that nonstop warming - I think whether we see nonstop warming hinges a lot on what the volcanoes do. Or we could see both super warm areas AND super cold areas as volcanic winter does battle with the massive amounts of methane flooding the system, creating wildly unpredictable weather with extreme fluctuations in temperature.

  3. Also, I'm not sure we CAN stop our greenhouse emissions. We can't stop our shit from burning. So eventually everything burns - every house, every factory, ever vehicle, every forest, bog, swamp, marsh and tundra, every sewer, every landfill, every coal seam, every oil deposit squirts out and burns - not much we can do about all that, or we'd be doing it now. So, that's probably a lot of greenhouse gas emissions.

So what stops the burning? Well, I can think of two things, and I'm not sure which will occur first: 1) the amount of oxygen in the atmosphere drops so low that all the fires sputter out; 2) there's nothing left to burn that CAN burn. In the meantime, the life that CREATES oxygen is dying off way faster than the life that CONSUMES oxygen, so the oxygen levels are already running at a deficit. And the resulting anoxic conditions favor the bacteria and archaea that create more hydrogen sulfide, and so on. So the world will burn at an ever-increasing rate until one of those two things happens. Regardless of what we do or don't do as human beings.
