Event Update For 2014-03-30

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Category: Fires And Explosions

2014-03-30 - Man killed when vehicle explodes and burns on road in Lyndon Township (Wisconsin):

Quote: "The Juneau County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle fire on highways 12 and 16 in Lyndon Township, west of Wisconsin Dells, at 8:31 p.m. Saturday, according to the release. Witnesses said they heard an explosion prior to discovering the vehicle on fire."

Note: Things are certainly getting more interesting and horrifying now. Cars just exploding and killing the occupants as they drive? Nothing weird about that! Move along, nothing to see here...

2014-03-30 - Man found dead in burned-out car near Panora (Iowa):

Quote: "It's not clear how he died. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating all possibilities, including suicide, but investigators said there was no foul play."

Note: He'd just gotten out of prison for an asbestos-related construction violation, then he stole a car, then he was found dead in it after it burned. Panora is right next to Lake Panorama...

2014-03-30 - Charred corpse found in burning SUV at 11:12 PM in Akron (Ohio):

Quote: "Authorities are investigating the discovery of an unidentified person in a burning vehicle on Yukon Avenue near Stoner Street."

2014-03-30 - Man killed when RV ignites at 4:40 AM in Hoo (Britain):

Note: From the full hypothesis: "Vehicles of all kinds will continue to burn, as they have been, and the number of vehicular fires will continue to escalate, inevitably resulting in a corresponding increase in the number of people being incinerated in their vehicles."

2014-03-30 - Mobile home destroyed by explosion and fire at midnight, second home damaged, in Charlotte (North Carolina):

Quote: "An early morning explosion and fire destroyed a west Charlotte home. There’s very little left to the mobile home on Shane Lane near Wilkinson Boulevard.  The blast and fire also damaged the home next door. According to neighbors, the blast happened around 12 a.m. Sunday morning."

Note: Four homes exploded the day prior, mentioned in the 2014-03-29 update. Clearly homes - and other structures too - are exploding at an accelerating rate. And people are sleeping through this?! They won't be sleeping when their home blows up, I guarantee that! (Unless it's the permanent kind of 'sleep', of course.)

2014-03-30 - Sewer explodes in Siming South Road in Xiamen (China):

2014-03-30 - Big pile of ground up cars bursts into flame at 4 AM at recycling plant in coastal Garden City (Georgia):

Quote: "Garden City and Pooler fire crews worked for about eight hours to extinguish a fire at Newell Recycling on Sonny Perdue Drive earlier today. Amy Headrick, with the Garden City Fire Department, said the blaze started around 4 a.m. Sunday morning. 'It was basically a big scrap pile of ground up cars that caught fire. Just a big debris pile,' Headrick said."

Quote: "Officials said about 500 tons of recycled materials caught fire."

Note: Any rust on the metal? Rhetorical question...

2014-03-30 - Four transformers explode and burn at 1:30 AM in Vienna (Ohio):

Quote: "Four transformers exploded early this morning, causing multiple fires along downed lines and trapping residents inside their homes. The fires are along Sodom Hutchings Road and Pin Oak Drive, just south of state Route 82."

2014-03-30 - Transformer bursts into flame at 6:30 AM in the Brook Street neighborhood of Framingham (Massachusetts):

Quote: "About 10 percent of Framingham is without power."

2014-03-30 - Transformer bursts into flame on pole on coastal Nantucket Island (Massachusetts), 3400 homes go dark:

Quote: "National Grid's power-outage map website was reporting 2,480 customers without power on the island as of 9:39 p.m..."

2014-03-30 - Transformer bursts into flame at intersection in Stratford (Wisconsin):

2014-03-30 - Boat, RV and shed destroyed by fire at 3 AM in coastal Cygnet on the island of Tasmania (Australia):

Quote: "A boat and a caravan were destroyed in the blaze but firefighters were able to contain it before it spread to a nearby house. Within an hour, the TFS was alerted to a fire at the Cygnet Tennis Club on Louisa St. The weatherboard building was completely gutted in the blaze."

Note: Second link mentions the boat fire, but is mainly about another fire, 'suspected arson', that destroyed a man's business on the same day. Suspecting arson doesn't mean it WAS arson...

2014-03-30 - Boat bursts into flame along Flour Bluff Drive in coastal Corpus Christi (Texas):

2014-03-30 - Two tractor trailers damaged or destroyed by fire at granite business in coastal Naples (Florida):

Quote: "The fire then spread to a lowboy tractor-trailer. Both vehicles were used to carry granite."

2014-03-30 - Tractor trailer bursts into flame while parked at lumber company in Spotsylvania County (Virginia):

Quote: "Around 6:30pm on Saturday March 29th units were dispatched to a tractor trailer fire on Lake Anna Parkway. First reports were a tractor trailer loaded with lumber near Camptown road was on fire."

2014-03-30 - Semi tractor bursts into flame at 7 AM while parked at business in Burlington (Wisconsin):

2014-03-30 - Four trucks destroyed by fire at midnight, three more damaged, while parked at business in Pennsauken (New Jersey):

Quote: "Crews were called out around midnight Sunday to the Penske truck rental business located in the 1800 block of Hylton Avenue. It took 45 minutes before firefighters were able to get the upper hand on the blaze. Four vehicles were destroyed in the blaze, while three others suffered damage."

Note: They're gonna run out of trucks to rent sooner than is really necessary if they keep parking them next to each other...

2014-03-30 - Truck bursts into flame on the M18 near Rotherham (Britain), parked car burns separately:

2014-03-30 - Three vehicles destroyed by explosion and fire at 1:30 AM while parked at home in Peoria (Illinois):

Note: They 'believe' this was arson. Witnesses, motive, forensics, surveillance footage? Nope, nope, nope, nope. Not a terrible assumption in normal times, though competent detectives don't start with any assumptions. Terrible assumption for the present. Maybe they'll cough up some of that evidence stuff at some point though. It has happened before, albeit rarely. In the meantime, just looks like more parked vehicles spontaneously igniting in the wee hours, which is when the atmosphere cools and contracts, which will push any hydrogen sulfide or methane in the air above closer to the ground. Peoria is also right next to the Illinois River and Upper Peoria Lake...

2014-03-30 - Van bursts into flame at 4 AM while parked in Summit Hill (Pennsylvania):

2014-03-30 - Van bursts into flame while parked in the financial district in coastal San Francisco (California):

2014-03-30 - Car bursts into flame while parked on street in Chennai (India):

2014-03-30 - Car bursts into flame while parked in driveway, fire spreads to home, in Alcester (Britain):

Note: All of the above vehicle fires were in parked vehicles. Vehicles need not be running nor have been running recently in order to spontaneously ignite now. Any rust or any electrified copper is all it takes, and virtually all vehicles have one or the other, and most vehicles have both. As a consequence, parked vehicles are going up in flames all over the place and, because people are unaware of the problem, a lot of homes and businesses are going up in flames too, after the vehicle fires spread...

2014-03-30 - Car bursts into flame at the Beaverbrook Roundabout in Leatherhead (Britain):

2014-03-30 - Car bursts into flame on Elizabeth Way in coastal Seaton Carew, Hartlepool (Britain):

Note: Car, lawnmower, ATV, motorcycle or scooter or something like that in there? Cordless power tools might ignite a fire too, if their batteries are charged...

2014-03-30 - Porch bursts into flame, fire spreads, home and vehicle destroyed too, in Rifle (Colorado):

Note: Any porch or deck that has exposed rust (nails, screws, hinges, brackets, whatever) or electrified copper (exterior lights, dimmer switches, doorbells, electrical outlets) is increasingly in danger of igniting. These fires can be very dangerous because they start on the outside, so indoor smoke detectors may not go off until the fire has grown and cut off avenues of escape. Also, many of these fires occur in the wee hours when people are sleeping, though that wasn't the case this time...

There are few visitors in the park this time of year. Yellowstone sees frequent small earthquakes. Since Thursday, there have been at least 25 recorded in the nation's first national park."

  1. Jonny: great job picking up all these events.

The ground up metal bursting into flame is what convinced me of your JJFH. It's a real WTF moment, especially when followed by exploding transformers and sewers, recycling centers, etc. I foresee the collapse of cities due to the inability to keep up with degrading infrastructure (and the gases in the atmosphere are the vehicle by which this will happen). Parked cars going up in flames is one thing, but moving vehicles that do it is a freak-out. Add to that: the vehicles are directed by people who can pass out or have a "medical event" while in one.

i'm surprised it isn't happening to trains so much as it is planes, boats and vehicles. Do you have any thoughts on that?

Earthquake activity is way up (scroll down the page for lots of examples):

    1. Well, some trains have burned. There just aren't remotely as many trains as there are RVs and trucks and cars and stuff. They don't have rubber tires to ignite either. Not sure how their batteries and such work, or engines for that matter - maybe they're sealed up better than standard vehicles. Also, that'd be a candidate for quiet nationalization right there - train operators. Very strategic resource, train transport.

All that said, here's a train fire for ya:

    2. Also, Eurostar train fire in coastal London in the 2014-03-28 update. That was just 3 days ago. Actually, just did a count - that train fire I linked there was the 10th train fire this year, that I know of. One was even a train hauling cars.

  2. Jonny did you catch Cosmos where Neil Tyson visited the Hall of Extinction? They discussed at some length the Permian extinction. Then there was a weird little moment of silence where Neil looked troubled before they moved on. Maybe I'm jumping at shadows, but I wonder if he KNOWS?

    1. No, didn't see that! Don't watch much TV anymore, to be honest. And he might know. I'm not ruling anything out. And just because you're jumping at shadows doesn't mean there aren't any shadows worth jumping at either!

  3. Breaking - Strong magnitude 8.0 earthquake strikes just off the coast of Chile:
