Event Update For 2020-07-28

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

    http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/economic-nightmare-nearly-50-percent-of-all-the-jobs-lost-during-the-covid-19-pandemic-may-be-gone-permanently

When millions of Americans were losing their jobs at the beginning of this pandemic, we were told not to worry because the lockdowns were just temporary and virtually all of those workers would be going back to their old jobs once the lockdowns ended. Well, now we are finding out that was not even close to true. Over the last 18 weeks, more than 52 million Americans have filed new claims for unemployment benefits, and a very large percentage of them are dealing with a permanent job loss. In fact, one brand new survey discovered that 47 percent of all unemployed workers now believe that their “job loss is likely to be permanent”.

Yelp reported 71,500 businesses that were listed on their site have closed for good since March 1.

The storm still lacks a well-defined center of circulation, but it is expected to become a tropical storm Wednesday night, Senior Hurricane Specialist Daniel Brown wrote in the latest forecast discussion describing the meteorological conditions of the storm.

All of Florida remains in the forecast cone, but the projected path of the storm has been teetering back and forth. Whereas the center of the cone on Tuesday was aiming for Florida’s southeastern Atlantic Coast, that center on Wednesday morning veered slightly west to Florida’s Gulf Coast and then shifted back east later in the day. New research suggests COVID-19 can spread via aerosol transmission -- and might affect tall people more
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/research-suggests-covid-19-spread-via-aerosol-transmission-134041673.html

A new survey has found more evidence to suggest that people can become infected with COVID-19 through aerosol transmission, which could be prevented by wearing a mask.

Carried out by data scientists in the UK, Norway, and the US, the study is one of the first to investigate which personal and work-related factors can lead to COVID-19 transmission.

After surveying 2,000 people in the UK and US, the researchers found that the data from both countries suggests that aerosol transmission of the virus -- via microdroplets which are so small that they remain suspended in the air for several hours -- is very likely.

Moreover, they say that taller individuals appear to be at a higher risk. Individuals over 6ft tall seem to have more than double the chance of having a COVID-19 medical diagnosis or testing positive. [more; don't get tested!]

The Kura river in Azerbaijan has shallowed dramatically this summer in what experts say is an unfolding ecological disaster

"Our animals are dying. We don't get water in time," said farmer Maryam Hasanova, as she waited for a truck to deliver water.

Residents in two southern regions have suffered acute water shortages for months, and people like Hasanova -- who have smallholdings with crops and cattle -- have been particularly affected.

Wide expanses of cracked grey silt can be seen above the waterline of the river near the village.

"The drop in water levels in the Kura this summer is unprecedented," reaching nearly two metres (six feet) in some regions, said the director of the Baku's Institute of Geology, Ramiz Mammadov. [more]

  6. Why some Americans say they'll never wear a mask — and what that says about the U.S.
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/why-some-americans-say-theyll-never-wear-a-mask-and-what-that-says-about-the-us-175812512.html

This behavior, Wright says, is influenced by a sense of distress and a lack of understanding of why the masks are necessary. It was also made worse by the fact that officials at the World Health Organization, in an effort to ensure that face masks went first to frontline health care workers, declared that masks were not recommended for everyone.

“You’ve got this huge sense of distrust of the government,” Wright said, “whether it’s local or federal. You’ve got distrust in the science. And then you have this really unfortunate situation where the science changed — science does that, especially in certain situations that are so novel and uncertain, but that’s really confusing for people.”

“I don’t think the masks are effective at all,” Dieker, 34, told Yahoo News via Facebook. He said he knows of only one person with a confirmed case of the coronavirus. That person had mild symptoms, Dieker said. “I’m not concerned about COVID-19 because everything I see adds up to inflated numbers and overhyped panic. I believe it’s no worse than a new influenza strain.”

Dieker pointed to what he described as misreported case numbers, inaccurate tests and mainstream news articles he believes are untrue.

“If I’m lied to several times,” he said, “why would I continue to believe the source of the lie, especially when the narrative doesn’t add up?”

Experts warn that the same issues surrounding mask compliance could create problems for promoting a vaccine. [more]

  8. We're rapidly approaching the point at which civil society breaks down. The measly payment the powers that be want to BRIBE the rest of us into continued debt serfdom isn't going to work for long.

The educational system, like pro sports, isn't going to return to any kind of normal. Education itself is about to implode, especially with massive unemployment. We who have no work don't get our piece of shit cars fixed, mow our weed dominated "lawns" or feel like paying exorbitant school taxes to a government enforced broken system. We're witnessing the collapse of civilization! It's only going to get worse, more complicated, dysfunctional so that eventually the lights go out, there's no food and the local nuke plant Fuk's us up.

It's going to be chaotic, violent and maddening. Social psychosis. Nothing will work, nobody will be able to grow food or keep livestock (because it will be too hot, wet, stormy, dry . .). On the global scale, we're already seeing water wars, land grabs, border fights, refugee issues, environmental destruction of critical rain forest and other former "off limit" zones, etc.

It'll all seize up shortly, then we'll see what humanity is all about. Doesn't look promising.

Seattle police say explosives found in abandoned van at protests over weekend
    https://www.sott.net/article/438962-Seattle-police-say-explosives-found-in-abandoned-van-at-protests-over-weekend

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan and Police Chief Carmen Best revealed at a Wednesday news conference that police discovered explosives, smoke bombs and other weapons in a van stationed at the weekend protests.

Saturday's demonstration, promoted by the Youth Liberation Front in support of protesters in Portland, erupted in violence. Best said over the weekend that officers used blast balls, pepper spray and 40mm sponge-tip rounds, while some in the crowd of protesters broke windows and started fires. At one point, she said, someone threw an explosive that blew an 8-inch hole through a wall of the Police Department's East Precinct. These 13 states need to lock down now, according to Harvard coronavirus experts
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/these-are-the-13-states-that-need-to-lock-down-now-according-to-harvard-coronavirus-experts-162201179.html

if the Harvard experts had their way, 13 states would lock down right now. Another 22 would be considering lockdowns.

In contrast, the Harvard group says that “at the red level, jurisdictions have reached a tipping point for uncontrolled spread and will require the use of stay-at-home orders and/or advisories to mitigate the disease.”

Right now, that would mean 13 of the Trump task force’s 21 red-zone states returning to lockdown: Florida (with a staggering 48.1 new daily cases per 100,000 people), Louisiana (46.2), Mississippi (43.5), Alabama (39.1), Arizona (36.6), Tennessee (34.1), Georgia (33.8), Nevada (33.0), South Carolina (30.1), Texas (27.9), Idaho (27.5), Arkansas (26.4) and Oklahoma (25.6).

The other eight task force red-zone states — California (23.5), Missouri (22.0), North Dakota (18.2), North Carolina (18.1), Utah (17.9), Iowa (16.3), Wisconsin (15.7) and Kansas (14.2) — would fall into Harvard’s orange zone.

So do an additional 14 states, including several — such as New Mexico (15.6), Nebraska (15.1) and Maryland (14.6) — that seem to be getting worse fast. [more; who's checking the #s?]

U.S. solar power plant backed by over $700 mln in govt loans goes bust -filing
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/u-solar-power-plant-backed-181615599.html

The owner of a big Nevada solar-thermal power plant that received $737 million in loans from the U.S. Department of Energy filed for bankruptcy on Thursday, according to a court filing, potentially leaving U.S. taxpayers with a whopping bill.

The project's failure is a blow to the DOE renewable energy loan program, which had already been criticized by Republicans as a waste of money after it backed failed solar panel maker Solyndra during the Obama administration.

Tonopah Solar Energy LLC still owes $425 million on its DOE loan, but reached a settlement under which the department will recover at least $200 million, it said in court documents filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware. [more]
