Event Update For 2018-11-10

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

  3. Was supposed to get a bit o' snow here this last evening, but didn't get anything, and apparently that's been rescheduled for Thursday. Been a little chilly, but not record-setting or anything. I actually wouldn't mind some snow and cold - that's what the trees around here require to stay alive and last winter was too warm with virtually no snow, like maybe six inches total for the whole winter.

Regardless of what I get here, I'm not complaining - at least the countryside isn't going up in flames left and right like it is in California!

  4. The cold is no problem as long as you have a working heater or fireplace. Spending days in a cold, electrically dead house can really get to one. Western PA is due for some snow, but we don't usually get any until December. Of course these are no longer "normal" times . ..

We Are Witnessing The Most Destructive Fire In The History Of California, And “Devil Winds” Threaten To Make Things Even Worse
    http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/we-are-witnessing-the-most-destructive-fire-in-the-history-of-california-and-devil-winds-threaten-to-make-things-even-worse

California has been absolutely devastated by horrific wildfires in recent years, but the state has never seen anything quite like this. At this moment, three major wildfires are raging, and the Camp Fire in Butte County is already officially the most destructive wildfire in California history. Thousands of firefighters are desperately trying to contain this fire, but they haven’t had much success. More than 6,700 structures have already been destroyed, and that shatters the all-time record that was set just last year. In fact, five of the ten most destructive wildfires in California history have happened within the last two years. The Camp Fire and the two mammoth fires in southern California have forced hundreds of thousands of people to evacuate from their homes, and authorities are warning that “devil winds” of up to 40 miles per hour could accelerate this crisis in the early morning hours of Monday. This is spectacular. It’s not often you get to see underneath the bottom of a glacier. The glacier sits on top of the last volcano to explode on Canadian soil: Mount Meager, northwest of Whistler, B.C. But the fact that it erupted just over 2,400 years ago does not mean it’s past its potential to blow again. That’s just the blink of an eye in geological terms. Now, the combination of the volcano and its shrinking glacier has drawn scientists to read the signals, the body language of the mountain in hopes of knowing when the next eruption will happen. https://www.sott.net/article/400456-As-US-sanctions-take-hold-Iranian-banks-are-about-to-be-cut-off-from-global-financial-network-UPDATE

[SOTT]Comment: Iran has been suffering under US sanctions in one form or another for over forty years. They will again find a way, especially with Russia's aid to overcome this latest insult. Trump does not seem to comprehend that his tactics towards Iran so not function in isolation, but will have repercussions around the world, mostly to America's detriment. Eventually who will want to trade with such a belligerent nation?

Meanwhile, European leaders are planning on introducing an alternative system to ensure that payments to and from Iran can be processed. Such a system will not be ready for several months at least, and Iran's deputy foreign minister Kazem Sajjadpou expressed frustration last week with the delay, saying "what is lacking is both speed and efficiency." Bubbling pool of mud is on the move in California, and no one knows why
    https://www.sott.net/article/400439-Bubbling-pool-of-mud-is-on-the-move-in-California-and-no-one-knows-why

Refusing to stay in place, a roiling mass of carbon dioxide and slurry-like soil is migrating across the state at a pace of 20 feet a year. So far, it's carved a 24,000-square-foot basin out of the earth, and it's set to continue its crusade until whatever's driving it dies out. Scientists currently have no real idea why it's moving or if it can be stopped.

Currently located just north of Niland, the mud pot is moving toward Union Pacific Railroad tracks and giving engineers there a headache. A well dug to depressurize the source of the gas had no effect. Steel walls driven 80 feet into the ground were also nonchalantly circumvented; the mud pot simply ducked under them and continued its freakishly linear path of destruction. [and humans are "wise" - yeah, we're so fuckin' wise MUD outsmarts us!]

"No one has seen a moving mud pot before," says David Lynch, a consulting physicist who has long studied the area's geothermal features. Mud pots and mud volcanoes also generally don't emit much water, but this one is extremely vigorous, producing somewhere around 40,000 gallons of water a day. Lynch and other experts have taken to calling it a "mud spring."

The spring also smells of rotten eggs, a sure sign that hydrogen sulfide is being emitted. Although frequently linked to volcanic activity, in this case, bacteria may be to blame. The area contains a saline lake called the Salton Sea. Formed by the explosion of an irrigation canal in 1905 [they could have started JJFH back THEN!], today it's kept filled by agricultural runoff water, and fertilizers can cause algae populations in the lake to soar. When the algae die, bacteria feast upon them, excreting plenty of hydrogen sulfide. [more]

What is that weird head sensation called ASMR?
    https://www.sott.net/article/400384-What-is-that-weird-head-sensation-called-ASMR

Many people experience Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR), a relaxing sensation often triggered by gentle whispering which creates a "low-grade euphoria" characterized by "a combination of positive feelings and a distinct static-like tingling sensation on the skin. We are finally working out what it is and that it can be good for you.

The phenomenon first came to people's attention in 2007, in an online forum thread titled "weird sensation feels good". Many names were suggested, notably "attention-induced head orgasm" -- a misnomer because the feeling is not as sudden or short-lived as an orgasm, and is distinct from sexual arousal.

The term that stuck was coined in 2010 by cybersecurity expert Jennifer Allen: "autonomous sensory meridian response", or ASMR. She wanted something that represented the key elements of the sensation, but that sounded scientific, so people wouldn't be embarrassed to talk about it. It worked: those who experience the phenomenon are now a thriving online community. For instance, the ASMR subreddit has about 165,000 subscribers. The sensation has been popularised by pharmacologist Craig Richard of Shenandoah University in Virginia, who set up the website ASMR University. [more]

Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee dies at 95

Lee’s innovations pushed comic books from the edge of obscurity to the cultural forefront as a legitimate American art form. And he helped usher in an era when superhero movies, including such global blockbusters as Marvel Studios’ Iron Man and Avengers franchises, rank as Hollywood’s most reliably bankable entertainment properties.

Trump has the reverse Midas Touch - everything he touches turns to a pile of steaming dog shit. His blind followers see nothing but gold in them thar hills...

The Founding Fathers clearly never predicted that a sociopathic mega clown, born on third base, with the IQ of a dead squirrel, would hijack the country. And the world. Epic irresponsibility is the order of the day for the Banana-Republican-in-Chief. Unfortunately, the world has its limits as to how much rank stupidity can be accommodated. Having spent all of 2017 inflating the bubble, Donny has spent all of 2018 imploding it. I give him an A+ on the Kamikaze scale

Fiscally suicidal tax cut, deregulated corruption, delusional trade war, now add forest management to Trump's list of stupid fucking ideas. Over the weekend he was "helping" California deal with unprecedented wildfires by threatening to withdraw Federal funding. One more source of plundering for his offshore bank accounts. There is literally no limit to how fucking stupid this guy is.

"America's soybean farmers are hanging onto their crops in an attempt to wait out President Trump's trade war with China, more than doubling U.S. soybean inventories"

Unlike corn, soybeans don't store well, so farmers are risking their livelihoods for an economic detente that isn't guaranteed."

Hanging on to excess inventory into a weakening global economy, on the bet that prices will eventually increase. What could go wrong?

93-Year-Old Woman Is Saved from California Wildfires by Her Friend, the Garbage Collector
    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/93-year-old-woman-is-saved-from-california-wildfires-by-her-friend-the-garbage-collector/ar-BBPD1SV

“I went out and was standing on the front porch when this great, big, green monster drove up, and my dear friend was emptying the garbage,” Newsum recalled to the station. “He said, ‘You’re not staying here. You’ve got to get out of here. Why are you still here?’ “

Cummings tried to reach Newsum’s caregiver by phone, but was unsuccessful. So, he took matters into his own hands, breaking company protocol and putting her in his truck with the help of a few people nearby, the station reported.

“They lifted her, and we scooted her on the seat and put the seat belt on her and made sure she was up there far enough so she wouldn’t fall out either side, and that was it,” Cummings told KCRA. “We were on the road.”

Cummings said that his supervisor told him to cut his route short as the blaze spread throughout Butte County. But the longtime waste management driver knew there would be “older” residents in Magalia, and was determined to do all he could to help. [more; hope he doesn't get fired for breaking protocol]

the family dog woke Carrie Hansen and her husband Dave up in the middle of the night on Sunday. Even after the couple tried to shoo the canine out of the room, Milo persisted in bothering them.

Eventually, Carrie woke up enough to realize the room was filled with smoke. Once out of bed, she followed Milo, who led her to the garage.

“He ran to the garage, she followed him and it was solid smoke in there,” Dave told the station of the fire’s source.

Dave believes a piece of equipment in the garage is responsible for the fire [more]

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 602 points Monday after a big decline in Apple, a rise in the U.S. dollar and lingering worries about global trade weighed on investor sentiment.

Monday’s losses bring the Dow’s decline over the past two sessions to 800 points. The tech-heavy Nasdaq pulled back 2.8 percent and fell back into the correction territory it first entered during the October market rout.
