"If we pursue our present fatal path, you will drive the ignorant to support coups d'état at one moment, and swell the forces of street rioters at the next, and we shall be left exposed to the pitiless fury of irresponsible mobs trying to avenge themselves by looting among the ruins." -- Léon Gambetta

Event Update For 2018-11-12
http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html
The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.
A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Quote: "Authorities have reported 13 more fatalities from a blaze in Northern California that destroyed a town, bringing the total death toll so far to 42 and making it the deadliest wildfire in recorded state history."
Quote: "In some cases, there were only charred fragments of bone, so small that coroner's investigators used a wire basket to sift and sort them. The search for bodies was continuing."
Quote: "Cal Fire officials say the Camp Fire burning in Butte County has grown to 117,000 acres and is 30 percent contained."
Note: So in a span of only 13 months California has seen its largest wildfire (October of 2017) AND its deadliest fire AND its most destructive fire (this fire). We may very well end up looking back on this year as the beginning of the end for California because there's no reason to think things will get better and every reason to expect that things will get much worse...

ReplyDeleteI was gonna chime in last night, but got distracted. I agree that CA is facing a rather bleak next few years, but the exodus will probably go into overdrive when the earthquakes hit. The other factor I wanted to highlight is that no matter where people move, they'll face obstacles, trouble and life-threatening hardships over that same time span. Drought, flooding, bad storms, natural disasters, radiation, food shortages, lack of potable water, disease, and more will be impacting us all - while coastal problems will worsen with steady sea-level rise. There's no safe place, now that climate change is making Earth uninhabitable.
Scientists: Wind and drought worsen fires, not bad management – “Instead the result of our baking of our forests, woodlands, and grasslands with ever-worsening climate change”
http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2018/11/scientists-wind-and-drought-worsen.html
Both nature and humans share blame for California’s devastating wildfires, but forest management did not play a major role, despite President Donald Trump’s claims, fire scientists say.
Nature provides the dangerous winds that have whipped the fires, and human-caused climate change over the long haul is killing and drying the shrubs and trees that provide the fuel, experts say.
“Natural factors and human-caused global warming effects fatally collude” in these fires, said wildfire expert Kristen Thornicke of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany.
Multiple reasons explain the fires’ severity, but “forest management wasn’t one of them,” University of Utah fire scientist Philip Dennison said. [more]

11 Signs That The U.S. Economy Is Starting To Slow Down Dramatically
11-signs-that-the-u-s-economy-is-starting-to-slow-down-dramatically
The pace at which things are changing is shocking the experts. Just a few months ago, many of the experts were still talking about how the U.S. economy was “booming”, but since then a major shift has taken place. Most of the headlines have been about the huge stock market declines that we have been witnessing, but things have not been going well for the real economy either. Home sales are way down, auto sales are plummeting, the retail apocalypse is escalating, the middle class continues to shrink and economic optimism is rapidly evaporating. We haven’t seen anything like this since 2008, and many believe that the economic downturn that is now upon us will ultimately be even worse than what we experienced a decade ago. [more]

First, the story of the day, week, month is the annihilation in the crude oil market. Pundits are wondering, why is crude crashing: Too much supply? Too little demand? Strengthening dollar? Excessive speculation? Donny's Twitter commandment to lower oil prices?
The answer is, all of the above. [more]

Snoop Dogg has solid tips for Thanksgiving Dinner
https://www.msn.com/en-us/foodanddrink/tipsandtricks/snoop-dogg-has-solid-tips-for-thanksgiving-dinner/ar-BBPHFrP
in his recently released cookbook, “From Crook to Cook” (Chronicle Books), the erstwhile rapper, entertainer and co-host of the Emmy-nominated series “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party” on VH1 emerges as someone with strong opinions about the year’s best eating holiday. His recipes are solid, and in some cases brilliant, superior to what’s in a lot of cookbooks. (“He surprised me with his unique cooking techniques and recipes,” says another Thanksgiving expert, Martha Stewart, in the book’s intro.) Take, for example, the Ain’t No Jive Herbed Turkey and Gravy. It features an herb butter rubbed underneath the skin — a pro move — as well as gravy with a hit of orange juice. ReplyDeleteDecayed U.S. Military would lose war against Russia or China - Congressional report
https://www.sott.net/article/400647-Decayed-US-Military-would-lose-war-against-Russia-or-China-Congressional-report
The United States military has "lost its edge" and could potentially lose a war against Russia or China, a report by a bipartisan panel established by Congress says.
[uhm . . China has a 2.3 MILLION man army - let that sink in; 2 -Russia's weapons are so superior to the over-priced JUNK our troops are expected to use that it wouldn't even be FAIR! and c) On top of all that, THEY'RE ALLIES of each other now. not to mention WE LOST our recent SE Asian wars/skirmishes to SMALL COUNTRIES and WE'RE LOSING in Afghanistan . .]
Among the conclusions, it urged the Navy to expand its submarine fleet and sealift forces to compete with Russia and China.
It said the Air Force should introduce more stealth long-range fighters and bombers. It said the Army should add more armor, long-range precision missiles, and air-defense and logistical forces.

Time to pay attention: Facebook is supporting the police state by purging pages calling for police accountability
https://www.sott.net/article/400650-Time-to-pay-attention-Facebook-is-supporting-the-police-state-by-purging-pages-calling-for-police-accountability
One month ago, Facebook and Twitter - without warning or justification - deleted the pages of Free Thought Project and Police the Police which had over 5 million followers. During this purge, they also removed hundreds of other pages including massive police accountability groups like Cop Block, Filming Cops, and stifled the reach of Photography is Not a Crime. We reacted to the purge by starting new pages with the 2.0 appendix at the end of them. On Sunday, exactly one month after they wiped these pages from the internet, Facebook struck again, and again, no reason was given. [more]

https://www.sott.net/article/400646-Iraq-unable-to-comply-with-US-gas-embargo-on-Iran-seeks-to-barter-food-for-desperately-needed-gas
"The American deadline of 45 days to stop importing Iranian gas is not enough at all for Iraq to find an alternative source," one of the officials said.
"Stopping Iranian gas after the deadline will create a real power crisis. We need more time. The Americans are completely aware of how desperately we need Iranian gas."
Iraq along with South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, Greece, Japan, China, India and Italy, was granted waivers from the White House allowing Baghdad to gradually reduce energy purchases from Iran. The decision came shortly after the US re-introduced economic sanctions against Tehran in two stages. [more]
