Event Update For 2017-11-17

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

    https://www.sott.net/article/368288-Florida-ignores-escalating-hepatitis-C-cases-in-prisons-may-cost-taxpayers-millions

The state of Florida may have to pay hundreds of millions of dollars in treatment costs to as many as 20,000 sick inmates after a federal judge ruled Friday that prison officials had failed to properly care for felons infected with the hepatitis C virus.

The ruling, by U.S. District Court Judge Mark Walker, requires the Florida Department of Corrections to immediately treat a significant portion of the state's 98,000 inmates who test positive for the viral infection with direct acting antiviral drugs, a 12-week treatment that now costs about $37,000 per patient. When asked why he thought this format would be more effective, he said, "because the traditional universities have abandoned the humanities," adding they have been "dominated by a postmodern, neo-marxist" ideology. 2. Well Tom we in central Texas are so far getting the better part of the deal here in the end times weather wise. Except for a few counties we dodged the Harvey bullet and so far this year the rain has been just about right. Temperatures not too bad overall. We had a hot summer, but not the hottest summer by far. I'm sorry that you are going to suffer the brunt of the "polar vortex" soon, and probably several times this winter. This seems to be the way the jet stream is going to be until all the ice finally goes away in the Arctic. Then things will really get crazy with the jet stream.

Scientists predict upsurge in big earthquakes for 2018 as Earth's rotation slows
    https://www.sott.net/article/368283-Scientists-predict-upsurge-in-big-earthquakes-for-2018-as-Earths-rotation-slows

Although such fluctuations in rotation are small - changing the length of the day by a millisecond - they could still be implicated in the release of vast amounts of underground energy, it is argued.

"The correlation between Earth's rotation and earthquake activity is strong and suggests there is going to be an increase in numbers of intense earthquakes next year," Bilham told the Observer last week. [more]

Ten years after the 2008 financial crisis "very little has been really fixed," and the next bubble is about to burst, says Bill Blain, a strategist at Mint Partners. According to Blain, this time the bond markets will trigger the mayhem.

The 2008 crisis, which was about consumer debt, was triggered by mortgages. We still have consumer debt crisis problems ahead, warns Blain, adding the next financial crisis is likely to be in corporate debt. [more]

Comment: The first video speculates that the cause could be geological, as a result of the strong earthquake of September 7th, but does not offer a conclusive explanation. The second video claims that a natural dam of rocks was broken and this caused the flow of the river to change its course.

[SOTT] comment: The authorities said they would come up with a diagnostic within 20 days, but apparently the local residents - not willing to wait, probably because the waterfalls guarantee the inflow of tourists - took matters in their own hands and in 24 hours had removed debris from an area where the water used to flow, and managed to restore them back to their former glory: [more; see video]

  3. It's not treason to refuse to follow an unlawful order. You do have to be willing to risk your military career though. For example, an officer orders an enlisted man to kill an innocent civilian woman and her baby. Slaughtering the innocent - unlawful order. If the soldier does what he's ordered, then he's committed a crime and so has that officer for ordering it - both screwed. If he doesn't obey the order then he's refused to follow orders - the soldier may still get screwed for that, and the officer is still screwed for issuing an unlawful order. So the soldier has to decide what he gets screwed for - following an unlawful order and committing murder, or refusing to follow a direct order. He's got a chance of getting out of the latter choice, if the order does indeed prove to be unlawful. But there's no way out for the first choice. Of course, good commanders don't issue unlawful orders. But not all commanders are good commanders.

    ReplyDelete
  4. It's not always so clear-cut though, obviously. Sometimes the officer may have information to which the soldier he's ordering is not privy, which makes what seems like an unlawful order actually a lawful order. Then it comes down to a judgment call for the soldier - risk punishment for refusing a direct order, or risk committing the apparent crime he's been ordered to commit. That's where it's important that the officer issuing the order has earned some degree of respect and trust from the soldier receiving the order.

So what that general said, in a not-very-subtle way, was that he doesn't *necessarily* trust Donald Trump to issue lawful orders, and that he would look at such orders as they come and he would make that judgment call, knowing that if he refuses the order that his military service and possibly his freedom is on the line. Can't fault him for being honest.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Also see the movie 'Casualties of War' for an example of what happens when a soldier issues an unlawful order and subordinate soldiers do or don't obey the order. In my four years in the Army, I was never given an unlawful order, and I also respected all of my commanders except one. (He was a bit of a coward, left us grunts to fend for ourselves when things got scary while he fled to the safety of a heavily-fortified hotel.)

I bet they do give the generals in those positions some special classes on how to sort unlawful from lawful orders, given the planetary stakes, and how to handle such orders, and what the legal consequences are.

This week, North Carolina’s two Republican senators, Richard Burr and Thom Tillis, said they would oppose Michael Dourson’s nomination as the top chemical safety official at the Environmental Protection Agency.
The senators raised concerns about Dourson’s track record as a consultant for chemical companies when he was a professor at the University of Cincinnati, where he often produced research finding little or no human health risks for their products. Specifically, Burr pointed to contaminated water documented at a North Carolina military base and an unregulated compound known as Gen X, used to produce Teflon and other products, that was discovered in the Cape Fear River.

“I will not be supporting the nomination of Michael Dourson. With his record and our state’s history of contamination at Camp Lejeune as well as the current Gen X water issues in Wilmington, I am not confident he is the best choice for our country,” Burr said in a statement. [more]

These are the melting glaciers that might someday drown your city, according to NASA
    http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2017/11/these-are-melting-glaciers-that-might.html

New York City has plenty to worry about from sea level rise. But according to a new study by NASA researchers, it should worry specifically about two major glacier systems in Greenland’s northeast and northwest — but not so much about other parts of the vast northern ice sheet.
The research draws on a curious and counterintuitive insight that sea level researchers have emphasized in recent years: As ocean levels rise around the globe, they will not do so evenly. Rather, because of the enormous scale of the ice masses that are melting and feeding the oceans, there will be gravitational effects and even subtle effects on the crust and rotation of the Earth. This, in turn, will leave behind a particular “fingerprint” of sea level rise, depending on when and precisely which parts of Greenland or Antarctica collapse. [more]
