2016-07-06 - Dozens of cats go missing in coastal Timaru (New Zealand):
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jul/07/new-zealand-city-cats-missing
Note: All the cats are gone in my neighborhood too. Since cats are highly territorial, they don't just move on, so they're dead. The same thing happened to another neighborhood near me but closer to the Mississippi River. I suspect cats are vulnerable because they come out late at night, when there's most likely to be poisonous hydrogen sulfide blowing through, and also because they spend a lot of time grooming themselves, so as they roam around and touch stuff, their fur adsorbs hydrogen sulfide and then they lick their fur and get poisoned that way too...

http://www.staradvertiser.com/breaking-news/noaa-mass-die-off-at-marine-sanctuary-off-louisiana-texas/
Quote: "Divers from the motor vessel Fling 'were stunned to find green, hazy water, huge patches of ugly white mats coating corals and sponges, and dead animals littering the bottom of the East Flower Garden Bank, a reef normally filled with color and marine life,' wrote Steve Gittings, chief scientist in NOAA's Office of National Marine Sanctuaries."
Quote: "The divers alerted researchers, who found 'unprecedented numbers of dying corals, sponges, sea urchins, brittle stars, clams and other invertebrates on large but separate patches of the reef,' the report said."
Note: Those ugly white mats sound very suspiciously like bacterial mats of the ancient anaerobic type that produce hydrogen sulfide, which would then immediately begin killing oxygen-using life, starting at the sea floor, which is where this is occurring...
