The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

Note: More than 20 people dead with no signs of injury - there aren't a lot of things that can do that. This area has for weeks been getting hit by a foul odor. Hydrogen sulfide's even been mentioned, but the government's been blaming the odor on an 'air inversion' holding 'industrial pollutants' near the ground. But this is a coastal area, so hydrogen sulfide could be blowing in off the ocean too. Regardless of the source, if a cloud of hydrogen sulfide gas got sucked into the building via an AC unit, it could drop a whole room of people in seconds if it were 0.1% hydrogen sulfide, which is all the concentration needed to kill a person with one breath, and it sounds like all of these people died suddenly. The only possible alternative explanation I can think of is contaminated alcohol, but people don't tend to drink at the same rate and people have different body masses, so if it were contaminated alcohol then you'd expect some people would see other people collapse and then they'd head for the exits and sound the alarm...
