The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

Supply chain problems are leaving farmers no choice but to scuttle their crops (including milk) or sell their herds due to lack of truck drivers (that's what they're blaming it on), while freight shipments have all but stopped and containers are abandoned at ports. The last few weeks alone have provided ample evidence to back up that assertion. [more; this is old news, like all climate change stories at this point - we were warned as early as 1890s, records show that Exxon et al all KNEW it would lead to this since the 1960s, but did nothing ($ talks) but expand. So don't blame we consumers. Again, the underlying problem is pollution]
Just stopped by after several years - I used to be obsessed with this blog back in 2013. I really believed that we had a few years left at most before an escalating burning hellscape began to break civilization down in the US.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that hasn't happened yet, although mainstream science has caught up to the clathrate gun hypothesis at last. I wonder how many decades we have left? Will aliens intervene and save our planet? What will happen? I am no longer ashamed to admit that I have no fucking idea.
Anyway, hope you (and Tom who is practically a co-author of the blog in the comments section) are all doing ok and keeping mentally healthy as much as possible.
