"If we pursue our present fatal path, you will drive the ignorant to support coups d'état at one moment, and swell the forces of street rioters at the next, and we shall be left exposed to the pitiless fury of irresponsible mobs trying to avenge themselves by looting among the ruins." -- Léon Gambetta

Event Update For 2020-08-14
http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html
The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.
A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Good morning Jonny, all.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that every issue has at least two sides anymore, with evidence and anecdotes for each. The political divide, Covid-19 (origin, infection rate, death rate, etc.), culture, etc. These are now "wedge issues" driving people apart rather than providing a source of common ground on which to debate (and maybe to 'agree to disagree' in peace).
What's interesting about climate change is that, if one "gets it," all the other issues are relegated to 'topics relevant to humans' that are much less important (imho). Take the Covid craziness. There are documented stories of abuse, conspiracy, corruption, misinformation, shoddy statistics based on dubious testing, vested interest groups and much more. At this point, what with Greenland melting away, methane pouring into the atmosphere in ever-increasing quantities, marine, avian, and pollinator die-offs ramping up, natural disasters compounded by melting glaciers and polar ice, emergent diseases due to melting permafrost (among other factors leading to a rise in ticks, mosquitoes, and more), and weather related disasters effecting food sources, not to mention the complete collapse of the biosphere, it's a bit disingenuous to quibble over this one aspect of human suffering on our way to extinction. None of it even matters anymore, since, no matter what we do we're done in a few more years due to global warming and its knock-on effects.
i comment here frequently, thanks to Jonny's generosity, with the presentation of ideas on both sides of most issues. Yeah, i use SOTT often, though i don't buy their "agenda." i post competing claims and off the wall stuff from "fringe" people, but it's not to advance any one side (since it's all going into the dustbin of human history). We all come to our own conclusions in the end. For me, when new evidence from reliable sources (all of which are questionable these days) supersedes old information, i change my thinking on that issue.
[Here's a few news stories to start the day]

ReplyDeleteThe silly season arrives and 2020 is about to ramp up! A very dangerous record-breaking "long heatwave" set to shred nerves in Western US, as rolling blackouts plunge two million Californians into darkness already and will no doubt fester into more anarchy and hate over the weekend
http://www.thebigwobble.org/2020/08/as-silly-season-arrives-2020-is-ramping.html
And now the height of summer has arrived (the silly season) for the poor folks of the Northern Hemisphere and the fun is about to start. We have already had a taste of what global warming/climate change can do to a country way back in January and February. Remember the Aussie fires? 3 billion animals dead or wounded, 25% of Australia's temperate forests destroyed and 60% of crops in the worst fires ever seen anywhere on a populated country.
If you are wondering how the weather is panning out so far in summer of 2020, well, July 2020 has tied for second-hottest July on record for the globe, according to NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information. What’s more, the Northern Hemisphere saw its hottest July ever — surpassing its previous record high set in 2019. 2020 is on course to be the hottest year ever recorded. [more]

ShadowGate
https://www.cryptogon.com/?p=59192
Millie Weaver, the independent reporter who produced and directed the film, has just been indicted and arrested in Ohio:
According to the information I obtained through my investigative inquiries (and partially detailed in the video of her arrest), she was indicted by a grand jury seated in Ohio. The indictment was sealed until served. The nature of her alleged offenses appears to be “process crimes” (e.g. Obstruction of Justice, Tampering with Evidence). It remains unclear whether her indictment is related to her investigation that culminated in today’s release of her investigative documentary ShadowGate, although the timing is more than curious and must not be ignored.
