Event Update For 2020-03-15
http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html
The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.
A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Hey Jonny, everyone. My wife finally got the word that she's supposed to work from home until further notice - GREAT! This should have been the case YEARS AGO, but we'll take it!
ReplyDeleteSo i have 2 classes to supposedly "teach" until the end of April, with finals in early May and she'll be behind me (in our home office) on her company laptop. It's great that we won't have to commute and that we're both home pretty much most of the time. If this is any indication, gas prices should go to less than $2 a gal. (here).

Rounds of severe weather to target central US just in time for spring
ReplyDeletehttps://www.yahoo.com/news/rounds-severe-weather-target-central-100321112.html
A multi-faceted storm system slated to bring blizzard conditions to parts of the northern Plains and record-challenging heat [aerosol masking effect beginning?] to portions of the mid-Atlantic will also unleash multiple rounds of severe weather in the south-central United States.
The storm system is the same one responsible for bringing much-needed rainfall to California and burying the Sierra Nevada with feet of snow from this past weekend into the first part of this week.
Before this storm system ejects eastward into the Plains, a pocket of severe thunderstorms will erupt in parts of western Texas on Tuesday afternoon and evening. [more]

Russia Makes Move On Antarctica’s 513 Billion Barrels Of Oil
https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/russia-makes-move-antarctica-513-220000402.html
Rosgeologia’s seismic surveys and other related work since the 70s to now indicate that there is at least 513 billion barrels of oil and gas equivalent in Antarctica, and Moscow has now set its sights on the world’s most underexplored continent
Given the march that it has stolen on everyone else in the exploration and development of oil and gas resources in the Arctic region, it should come as little surprise to anyone who knows anything of the ruthless single-mindedness of Moscow that moves are afoot to do exactly the same thing at the other end of the world, Antarctica. According to an announcement in the last week, Russia’s state-run geological survey firm, Rosgeologia, undertook a major new seismic survey in the Riiser-Larsen Sea, off the coast of Antarctica’s Queen Maud Land earlier this year. Moreover, Rosgeologia stated unequivocally that it did this 4.400 kilometre survey - the first seismic survey done in the area by Russia since the late 1990s – with the express purpose of ‘assessing the offshore oil and gas potential of the area using the latest technology’. - Chesapeake Energy Corp, the oil and gas exploration and production company that helped spearhead the U.S. shale revolution, has tapped debt restructuring advisers amid a rout in energy prices, people familiar with the matter said on Monday.
The Oklahoma City-based company, which was co-founded by late wildcatter Aubrey McClendon, was struggling with its debt pile of roughly $9 billion even before an oil price war between Saudi Arabia and Russia and the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic contributed to driving its shares down more than 50% in the last three weeks. Former Federal Virus Hunter Says U.S. Needs to Act Before New Germs ‘Kick Your Door In’
https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/former-federal-virus-hunter-says-234911788.html
When the federal government decided to investigate the threat viruses in animals posed to humans, Dennis Carroll helped lead the charge.
Carroll directed the pandemic influenza and emerging threats unit at the federal Agency for International Development (USAID) for nearly 15 years. In that time, he spearheaded Predict, a project that identified more than 2,000 zoonotic viruses, or germs in animals ― the viral “dark matter,” as he characterizes it — that could also sicken people.
It operated under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, but the Trump administration opted to shut down the project. Its operations will cease later this year, Carroll said.
Carroll retired from the federal government and moved to Texas A&M University. He now heads the Global Virome Project, a nonprofit cooperative dedicated to tracking more of these threats and developing a database of viruses. [more]

For The 3rd Time This Month, We Just Witnessed The Largest Single Day Point Crash In Stock Market History
ReplyDeletehttp://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/for-the-3rd-time-this-month-we-just-witnessed-the-largest-single-day-point-crash-in-stock-market-history
We are literally witnessing history in the making. For the third time in the last six trading sessions, we have witnessed the largest single day point crash in stock market history. Let that sink in for a moment. On March 9th, the Dow set a new record by falling 2,013 points. Then on March 12th, the Dow set a new record again by falling 2,352 points. Of course what happened on Monday was the biggest whopper of them all. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 2,997 points, and words like “carnage” and “devastation” don’t seem to be strong enough to convey that horror that took place. To put all of this into perspective, the largest single day point crash during the last financial crisis was just 777 points. That means that the crash that we witnessed on Monday was nearly four times as large as the worst single day point crash in 2008.
Overall, the Dow is now down more than 31 percent from the all-time high set earlier this year.
If you can believe it, all of the tremendous stock market gains that we have witnessed over the last three years have been completely wiped out in just 18 trading days. [more]

Get Ready, A Bigger Disruption Is Coming
ReplyDeletehttps://www.yahoo.com/news/ready-bigger-disruption-coming-130007827.html
As global supply chains break, airlines slash flights, borders rise within nation-states, stock exchanges convulse with fear, and recession looms over economies, from China to Germany, Australia to the United States, we can no longer doubt that we are living through extraordinary times.
What remains in question, however, is our ability to comprehend them while using a vocabulary derived from decades when globalization seemed a fact of nature, like air and wind. For the coronavirus signals a radical transformation, of the kind that occurs once in a century, shattering previous assumptions.
In fact, the last such churning occurred almost exactly a century ago, and it altered the world so dramatically that a revolution in the arts, sciences and philosophy, not to mention the discipline of [bullshit] economics, was needed even to make sense of it [which it only fucked up more!].
The coronavirus, devastating in itself, may prove to be only the first of many shocks that lie ahead. [more]
Climate Push Loses Momentum as World Fights Coronavirus

[this will be far worse]
“Clearly we cannot ignore what’s going on globally,” said EU Environment Commissioner Virginijus Sinkevicius on Bloomberg TV. The global “climate emergency didn’t go anywhere.
But transforming the economy is a titanic effort, requiring all the pieces to move in perfect coordination over an extended period of time. Until now, public policy and private investment have pushed each other to advance climate goals [oh they have not!]. Whether all the stakeholders involved can deal with the immediate shocks while keeping long-term goals in sight remains to be seen [they can't, and climate change will destroy what's left of the environment in short order].
“Now we have coronavirus and every three or four years there will be a significant shock that governments will need to focus on over the short term,” said John Ferguson, director of macroeconomics at the Economist Intelligence Unit. “It’s no one’s fault, but that can throw certain countries off course. Let’s remember this is a goal about 2050.” [more]

The New York Federal Reserve released its latest Empire State Manufacturing survey Monday morning, which showed the report’s index of business conditions fell to its lowest level since 2009.
The survey’s decline from February to March was its largest on record.
“Employment leveled off, and the average workweek declined. Input price increases were little changed, while selling prices increased at a slower pace than last month. Optimism about the six-month outlook fell sharply, with firms less optimistic than they have been since 2009.” [more]
