Event Update For 2020-01-09

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Note: Fair enough. Well, not so fair to the passengers and flight crew! I won't count that event as a plane fire then. And though the result was obviously horrible, I'm glad this didn't remain a he-said she-said blame game thing, where it ends up being ambiguous what happened...

  1. Good morning from Havre de Grace, MD Jonny and all readers of JJFH.

Beautiful wolf moon last night and gorgeous sunrise here on the east coast today.

Coincident JJFH events popping off more often? Seems it. Same goes for your deadly fire and people dropping dead categories.

Attended a fund raiser for Australia
animal rescue last night. Unbelievable stories: the emence size of it all, the unfolding ecological catastrophe, heroic efforts by ordinary people to help in the effort (one group converted an old school bus to a mobile kitchen to feed the fire fighters, also providing cots for them to rest), the people driven INTO the ocean as fireballs are racing down, the poor air quality, lightning from the weather generated by these raging conflagration sparking more fires, an on and on. The female Australian veterinarian, who works @ the famous New Bolton center nearby the venue hosting the crowd-pleasing band, auctioned off adopting a koala, a large basket of imported Aussie snacks and wine, 2 hand made prints of a koala clinging to a tree, the inferno reflected in its sad eyes in back drop of red wash and burnt trees. The crowd was generous, glad to be there and danced to the lively music. Outside, I spoke to her and she's afraid it's over for her home state. Just recognizing the fear and desperation in her eyes . . man.

Peart was a phenomenal drummer and lyricist.

Australian Bushfires and Heat Are Killing Flying Foxes by the Thousands
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/australian-bushfires-heat-killing-flying-101514573.html

Bushfires fueled by climate change that are raging across eastern Australia have burned millions of acres, destroyed thousands of buildings, and killed 25 people.

But there are other victims: Australia’s endangered flying foxes. These furry, doe-eyed, puppy-size migratory bats have died by the thousands in the fires and in the months of extreme heat that preceded the blazes. [more]

Here’s How Wildfires Will Impact What Australians Eat and Wear
    https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/wildfires-impact-australians-eat-wear-180000163.html

As unprecedented wildfires threaten large parts of Australia, the nation’s agriculture industries are counting the cost of the blazes that have scorched pasture, destroyed livestock, and razed vineyards.

With the fires still burning and fears of more to come, it’s too early to quantify the damage, analysts and industry officials said. It’s likely the country’s dairy supply will be hit hardest, with key milk-producing states Victoria and New South Wales suffering the greatest loss of farmland and infrastructure damage. Meat, wool, and honey output may also dip.

More than 11.4 million hectares (28 million acres) have been blackened. That’s about 1.5% of the country’s land area, but still an expanse greater than Scotland. Over half the ground burned is in New South Wales and Victoria, and it’s mostly dense native vegetation, forests and national parks, as opposed to crop-growing farmland and areas of intensive agriculture. Australian wildfires may [no, WILL] impact global food supply
    https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/australian-wildfires-may-impact-global-185214803.html

Australia is a major exporter of wheat, which has been destroyed in the blazes. But there are other effects from the fires on food that might appear less obvious.

"For one, pollutants released by wildfires can affect crop and vegetation growth hundreds of miles away from the actual area that has burned," Childs said.

Childs said those pollutants can "reduce plant growth and productivity."

It's not just plant life that could be affected by the wildfires. Up to a billion animals could die as a result of the wildfires. Since Australia is the second-largest beef and veal exporter in the world, behind Brazil, beef prices might rise, Childs said. [more]

'Everything is lost': Life on the edge of the Brahmaputra
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/everything-lost-life-edge-brahmaputra-043618507.html

India is grappling with a water crisis on all fronts as global warming creates more extreme weather and poor environmental planning puts millions at risk

Once a vast river island in the heart of the Brahmaputra, now Majuli's days are numbered: Experts warn it may disappear entirely by 2040 as ever more violent flooding swells the river, wreaking havoc on the lives of those that live along its banks.

Millions rely on the vast waterway, which rises in Tibet and runs some 2,900 kilometres (1,800 miles) through the Himalayas to the Bay of Bengal, for their livelihoods but climate change means the deluge from the annual monsoon is increasingly extreme. [more]

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/drought-ignites-human-wildlife-conflict-zimbabwe-022746631.html

    [so BOTH will lose]

Wild animals in Zimbabwe were responsible for the deaths of at least 36 people in 2019, up from 20 in the previous year. The attacks have been blamed on a devastating drought in Zimbabwe which has seen hungry animals breaking out of game reserves, raiding human settlements in search of food and water.

"The cases include attacks on humans, their livestock and crops," said national parks spokesman Tinashe Farawo.

He said elephants caused most fatalities, while hippos, buffalos, lions, hyenas and crocodile also contributed to the toll. [more]

  5. Scientists Warn Almond Milk Is Destructive for the Environment
    https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/scientists-warn-almond-milk-destructive-140000835.html

In a world where many majestic animals are increasingly endangered due to climate change, the plight to save the honeybee may not seem as dire as it truly is. For agricultural experts and conservationists alike, the general decline of the honey bee (and the 4,000 species of wild bees overall) has been quietly alarming for many years — but recent data suggests that the decline has turned into a full-blown freefall.

Bee colony deaths surpassed all-time highs last year, with beekeepers reporting an average loss of 38% of honeybee colonies in the winter season, per a 2019 survey issued by the Bee Informed Partnership, a nonprofit established by the United States Department of Agriculture. But what has caused the death of upwards of 40 to 50 billion honeybees last winter, you might ask? According to a new feature published by The Guardian this week, the American almond industry may be tipping the scales with their huge demand for honeybees to pollinate their orchards, and could be to blame for the loss of billions of bees over the last year alone. New York Won’t Appeal Its Defeat in Exxon Climate Trial
    https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/york-won-t-appeal-defeat-184643901.html

New York Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat who took office after the suit was filed, announced the decision late Friday without giving a reason.

New York won’t appeal a ruling by a judge who rejected the state’s claim that Exxon Mobil Corp. misled investors for years about the oil giant’s internal planning for risks associated with climate change. [which they most certainly did]

Exxon has never taken the economic impact of climate change on its business seriously, “and that truth was laid bare at trial,” she said. [more]

They’re found in everything from food packaging to clothing to eyeliner to firefighting foam. The chemicals are also strongly linked to cancer, low birth weight, autoimmune disorders, thyroid issues, and a range of other serious diseases.
