Event Update For 2019-08-18

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2019-08-18 - Salton Sea belches up hydrogen sulfide in Riverside County (California):
http://www.latimes.com/california/story/2019-08-18/odor-advisory-salton-sea-area-hydrogen-sulfide
http://www.heraldmailmedia.com/news/nation/odor-advisory-issued-for-salton-sea-area-hydrogen-sulfide-leads/article_c320106c-26c7-5393-bbbf-a22e9a6cd40f.html

http://patch.com/california/palmdesert/smelling-rotten-eggs-blame-salton-sea

Quote: "An odor advisory was issued Sunday for the Salton Sea area in Riverside County due to elevated levels of a gas that smells like rotten eggs, according to state air regulators. The advisory was issued for the Coachella Valley and will remain in effect until at least Monday because of winds from the south, with peak concentrations of hydrogen sulfide emissions occurring in the morning hours, the South Coast Air Quality Management District said in a statement."

Quote: "Hourly average concentrations of hydrogen sulfide peaked [Sunday] morning at 239 parts per billion immediately downwind of the Salton Sea..."

Note: You can subscribe to email alerts for Salton Sea hydrogen sulfide monitoring at this website. I've been subscribed for quite some time. This last week the level surpassed 100 ppb for the first time since I've been watching and it's surpassed that level numerous times since then, and the next day it then surpassed 200 ppb too. So the Salton Sea's hydrogen sulfide emissions appear to be on the rise. Ignore the info saying these levels are harmless, blah blah blah, for two reasons: 1) these levels are possibly harmless if you only experience them ONCE, but nobody knows what the health effects are for people who breathe this particular poison gas regularly, even in small concentrations; and 2) as a heavier than air gas, hydrogen sulfide will flow into low-lying areas (ditches, basements, streams, etc) and concentrate. If it concentrates enough then one breath can kill you, even if the original cloud of poison gas that blew past the detectors was not concentrated…

2019-08-18 - Update on the car that burst into flame and killed a little girl in Plainview (Texas):

http://www.everythinglubbock.com/news/new-details-on-how-little-girl-was-left-alone-and-died-in-car-fire-in-plainview/

Quote: "Cantrell reportedly told the officer he drove to the Vape shop to buy a coil for a vaping pen but his daughter fell asleep as he pulled in. He said he left his daughter in the vehicle and ran inside the store to get the part. Another customer entered the store and announced that a car in the parking lot was on fire. Cantrell reportedly told the officer he couldn’t get into his vehicle because it was locked and couldn’t reach in to get his daughter because of the fire. The warrant does not indicate what caused the fire."

Note: They're charging him with criminally negligent homicide. Gotta say, this just looks like another car randomly bursting into flame. A number of children have burned to death the very same way, but this is the first time I've seen them threaten to send the parent to prison for it. If I were him, I'd fight it, and tell the prosecutors that I'd be showing JJFH to the jury, with info about all the other car fires that have killed people, and that'd be my defense. Since the authorities would never allow JJFH info to reach a jury, the charges would be dropped before the case ever went to court. Of course, this guy doesn't know what's going on and has never heard of JJFH, and that's likely to be the case for his lawyer too, so he'll probably be spending some time in prison...

http://www.chronline.com/crime/winlock-firefighters-respond-to-two-reports-of-burning-vehicles/article_2994ffb8-c2cc-11e9-ad35-c7c5d7a2ee83.html

Quote: "At 6:46 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters went to the 1400 block of King Road in Winlock on report of a burning lean-to building. Kevin Anderson with the fire district said the building and all of its contents were a total loss. The fire was threateningly close to a full-sized shop that contained a business, said Anderson, but it was halted before it reached the area. Preliminary investigation revealed the fire was started by a pickup truck that caught fire as it was sitting in the structure."

Quote: "At 4:17 p.m. Sunday, District 15 crews were dispatched to the 2700 block of Highway 603 where a vehicle caught fire, and was threatening to spread to a nearby residence. Crews were able to extinguish the fire before it caused any serious damage to the house, Anderson said. At roughly the same time, a vehicle fire was reported near exit 60 on Interstate 5, but the call ended up falling to nearby Lewis County Fire District 2."

Note: So that was actually three vehicle fires, but this fire department only handled two of them. But the latter two car fires occurred at the same time. What are the odds of two cars, one parked and one driven, going up in flames at the same time in the same area? Very extremely unlikely unless they shared some common causal factor. But what COULD they have in common? Only the atmosphere...

  1. You're the best, Jonny! What a great idea, having JJFH be a LEGAL DEFENSE! It would either work as you suggested, or - IF the jury was allowed to hear about it, went into deliberation and looked up the many YEARS of evidence you've compiled, especially on parked car fires, would more than likely have REASON TO DOUBT that the man was negligent. It would be even better if a parked car AT THE TRIAL burst into flame while they were in session.

Fossil fuel drilling could be contributing to climate change by heating Earth from within
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/fossil-fuel-drilling-could-contributing-155350936.html

Almost all scientists agree that burning fossil fuels is contributing to climate change. But agreement is less clear cut on how exactly it’s influencing rising global temperatures.

The world is now 1°C warmer than it was in pre-industrial times. Is this solely down to emissions of greenhouse gasses such as CO₂? Meteorologist Hubert Lamb, regarded as the father of modern climatology, argued that CO₂ levels alone couldn’t account for all of the global warming that’s been observed.

His attention turned instead to the role of thermal emissions. Burning fossil fuels doesn’t just produce greenhouse gases, it also generates a lot of heat, which leaks out to the atmosphere. Nuclear tests and volcanic eruptions are some examples of other large heat sources.

Back in 2009, two scientists in Sweden argued that thermal emissions were more important than CO₂ for raising global temperatures. A few years later, two Chinese scientists suggested that heat from the earth’s interior could be contributing to rising temperatures. They argued that fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas in layers and crevices beneath the Earth’s surface act as an insulating blanket, trapping heat from the planet’s interior. As these deposits have been emptied by fossil fuel extraction, more of that heat could be reaching the surface. [more]

    https://metro.co.uk/2019/08/19/boeing-757-passenger-plane-landed-roughly-fuselage-bent-shape-impact-10595614/

The ‘hard landing’ happened on flight number 414 from New York’s JFK Airport as it arrived at its destination of Ponta Delgada in the Azores on Sunday morning. No-one was injured in the rough landing, but photos shared on Twitter showed the jet’s roof and fuselage towards the front of the plane badly crumpled. One of the plane’s wings was also damaged, and appeared to have a large ‘wrinkle’ running along its strong metal length. [more; see pics]

Three dogs fatally mauled a 9-year-old girl Monday afternoon on Detroit's west side, authorities said.

Police arrested the dogs' owner, a 33-year-old man, following the 4 p.m. attack in an alley but were still trying late Monday to piece together what happened.

"When we first got on the scene, the girl was laying in the alley, and the father was performing CPR," Detroit Deputy Fire Commissioner Dave Fornell said. "Our first arriving unit jumped in and started CPR.

"At that point, the neighbors were shooting at the dogs. We were performing EMS under gunfire." [more]

  3. Russian pensioner 'eaten alive' by brown bear after joking about being mauled by one
    https://www.sott.net/article/418864-Russian-pensioner-eaten-alive-by-brown-bear-after-joking-about-being-mauled-by-one

A pensioner has been eaten alive by a bear just hours after joking about being attacked and killed by one.

Alexander Korneyev was out picking wild mushrooms when a brown bear savagely mauled him in eastern Russia, just outside the village of Suluk, about 5,300 miles east of Moscow.

The 66-year-old had only a penknife to try and defend himself against the powerful animal, but was unable to do so and was 'eaten alive'. [yeah, that pocket-knife defense might work on some big cats, but BEARS don't fuck around]

When the retired railway construction worker was found, it's said that not a single spot was left untouched.

After discovering Mr Korneyev's corpse, locals hunted the bear down and shot it dead. It's said the animal still had the man's remains inside its stomach.

Residents were horrified at the brutality of the attack and were especially shocked as it is an area where bears 'have never attacked humans' in living memory.

Speaking about the attack, the head of the village council Sergey Ryabov said: "There was blood everywhere. His penknife was broken in half, and there were signs of a fight.

Mr Korneyev's death was made even more tragic as he had called his wife before the attack and reportedly joked about being killed by a bear.

He is said to have told her: "I'm going to pick mushrooms. If I don't call you again by 10am, it means I've been eaten by a bear." [more]

Pioneering UN leader Dag Hammarskjold was assassinated, new data suggests
    https://www.sott.net/article/418829-Pioneering-UN-leader-Dag-Hammarskjold-was-assassinated-new-data-suggests

In 2017, the UN commissioned a new investigation of the crash, while the 2019 documentary Cold Case Hammarskjöld explores the long-running theory that Belgian or South African mercenaries may have shot down Hammarskjold's plane to stop his diplomatic activities in the Congo, possibly even with the backing of U.S. and British intelligence. [can't have any PEACE interrupting the military/industrial complex]

When Patrice Lumumba, the republic's first democratically elected prime minister, appealed to the Soviet Union for military support, the Congo crisis also became a proxy battle in the Cold War. Lumumba was kicked out of office and assassinated (with the help of Belgium and the CIA [!]) in early 1961. Shortly before his death, Hammarskjold was in Leopoldville (now Kinshasa) meeting with his successor, Cyrille Adoula, when he learned that U.N. forces had launched an aggressive attempt to expel foreign mercenaries from Katanga

The crash's sole survivor, U.N. security officer Harold Julien, also spoke before he died of an explosion on board the plane [whoa!], but the authorities assumed he was too ill and sedated to be taken seriously. [more]

Paging Big Brother: In Amazon's bookstore, Orwell gets a rewrite
    https://www.sott.net/article/418883-Paging-Big-Brother-In-Amazons-bookstore-Orwell-gets-a-rewrite

In George Orwell's "1984," the classics of literature are rewritten into Newspeak, a revision and reduction of the language meant to make bad thoughts literally unthinkable. "It's a beautiful thing, the destruction of words," one true believer exults.

Now some of the writer's own words are getting reworked in Amazon's vast virtual bookstore, a place where copyright laws hold remarkably little sway. Orwell's reputation may be secure, but his sentences are not.

Over the last few weeks I got a close-up view of this process when I bought a dozen fake and illegitimate Orwell books from Amazon. Some of them were printed in India, where the writer is in the public domain, and sold to me in the United States, where he is under copyright.

Others were straightforward counterfeits, like the edition of his memoir "Down and Out in Paris and London" that was edited for high school students. The author's estate said it did not give permission for the book, printed by Amazon's self-publishing subsidiary. Some counterfeiters are going as far as to claim Orwell's classics as their own property, copyrighting them with their own names.

What unites all these books is that none of them paid the author anything, which means they could compete with legal Orwell titles as a lower-cost alternative. After all, if you need a copy of "Animal Farm" or "1984" for school, you're not going to think too much about who published it. Because all editions of "1984" are the same, right?

Not always, not on Amazon. [more]

DTP vaccine associated with increased rate of total mortality in low-income countries - report
    https://www.sott.net/article/418868-DTP-vaccine-associated-with-increased-rate-of-total-mortality-in-low-income-countries-report

[now why would income have anything to do with the results, ie. the drug's effectiveness?]

This echoes the conclusion by Peter Aaby - a highly acclaimed scientist renowned for studying and promoting vaccines in Africa - that "all currently available evidence suggests that DTP vaccine may kill more children from other causes than it saves from diphtheria, tetanus or pertussis. Though a vaccine protects children against the target disease it may simultaneously increase susceptibility to unrelated infections."

"it is the duty of a manufacturer of a drug or vaccine to demonstrate in randomized trials that it works and has a positive benefit to harm balance. This has not been done for the DTP vaccine." [more; oh?]

Breaching carbon threshold could lead to mass extinction – Carbon dioxide emissions may trigger “reflex” in global carbon cycle, with devastating consequences
    https://desdemonadespair.net/2019/08/breaching-carbon-threshold-could-lead-to-mass-extinction-carbon-dioxide-emissions-may-trigger-reflex-in-global-carbon-cycle-with-devastating-consequences.html

In the brain, when neurons fire off electrical signals to their neighbors, this happens through an “all-or-none” response. The signal only happens once conditions in the cell breach a certain threshold.

Now an MIT researcher has observed a similar phenomenon in a completely different system: Earth’s carbon cycle.

Daniel Rothman, professor of geophysics and co-director of the Lorenz Center in MIT’s Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences, has found that when the rate at which carbon dioxide enters the oceans pushes past a certain threshold — whether as the result of a sudden burst or a slow, steady influx — the Earth may respond with a runaway cascade of chemical feedbacks, leading to extreme ocean acidification that dramatically amplifies the effects of the original trigger.

This global reflex causes huge changes in the amount of carbon contained in the Earth’s oceans, and geologists can see evidence of these changes in layers of sediments preserved over hundreds of millions of years. [more; "we are so fucked"]

  6. A Florida man fed a kinkajou. The next morning, the 'super aggressive' exotic creature attacked him
    https://news.yahoo.com/florida-man-fed-kinkajou-next-214142676.html

Florida wildlife officials say a man was attacked last month by a kinkajou, a small, raccoon-like animal native to Central and South America.

Michael Litersky, 37, noticed the exotic creature outside his girlfriend's home in Lake Worth on the night before the attack and left it some watermelon, according to a report from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conversation Commission. When he opened the door to leave for work the next day around 5:45 a.m., the kinkajou was waiting for him.

"The Kinkajou immediately attacked him, biting him on the ankles." [more]
