Event Update For 2019-07-31

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

2019-07-31 - Hydrogen sulfide stench hits Palm Springs (California):

Quote: "There's an unmistakable smell in the air. One that creeps into the Coachella Valley during the hot, sticky days of summer. The sulfuric odor typically shows up when the mercury and humidity are high, and levels of hydrogen sulfide spike in the Salton Sea."

2019-07-31 - Unknown stench hits downtown area near the Mississippi River in St. Louis (Missouri):

Quote: "An odd stench permeated through downtown St. Louis Wednesday night. On social media, many aren’t holding back, saying its 'the most horrid smell ever.' Some said it smelled like feces, vomit or dog food."

Note: Didn't smell it, but then again, I'm 7 miles from the riverfront, and in a relatively high area altitude-wise, which in Missouri means 'a small hill'. But I have smelled rotten egg odor from time to time in my neighborhood too, and twice I've also smelled the sickly sweet stench of a non-trivial concentration of hydrogen sulfide. I'm not surprised that the riverfront area would get hit by a foul smell. Well, nobody dropped dead, this time, so that's a plus!

  1. Wow, what a month! This just might be the inflection point to the exponential curve of global heating, where each year after this is MUCH hotter. We'll find out shortly.

July to be announced the hottest month ever: Doctored Data and cooking the books show we might be warming or cooling but something strange has happened to the weather
    http://www.thebigwobble.org/2019/08/july-to-be-announced-hottest-month-ever.html

If we were shocked 10 years ago at 30 deg C and again this year, 40 deg C was certainly shocking, dare we predict just what temperature will be reached in 2029?
So for me anyway, it comes as no surprise when a preliminary analysis of global temperature data for July suggests it may have "marginally" become the warmest month ever. [more]

[the author is still confused by the misinformation of the denialist camp - "cooking the books," old email exchanges from supposed climate scientists, placement of thermometers - it's all designed to cast doubt on the REALITY that it isn't getting cooler GLOBALLY by any means!]

New Tariffs, Stocks Plunge, Manufacturing Falls Again And More Layoffs – But Everything Is “Fine”?
    http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/new-tariffs-stocks-plunge-manufacturing-falls-again-and-more-layoffs-but-everything-is-fine

Things are starting to go downhill rather quickly now. A day after the Federal Reserve cut interest rates for the first time in more than a decade, we received a whole bunch more bad economic news. Most Americans don’t realize it yet, but our economy is in serious trouble. We haven’t seen anything like this since the last recession, but most people seem to think that since stock prices are still very high that everything must be fine. No, everything is definitely not “fine”, and as I noted yesterday, a lot of prominent names are loudly sounding the alarm. Many analysts are expecting things to really start breaking loose as we get deeper into the second half of this year, and what we witnessed on Thursday certainly didn’t make the outlook any brighter. On August 1 the Predictive Services section at the National Interagency Fire Center issued their Wildland Fire Potential Outlook for August through November. The data represents the cumulative forecasts of the ten Geographic Area Predictive Services Units and the National Predictive Services Unit.

If NIFC’s analysis is correct, areas in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, and California will have elevated potential for wildfires in August and September. With the monsoons moving into the Southwest there are no areas east of those four states that NIFC identified as having high wildfire potential between August and November. https://www.yahoo.com/news/mexico-gas-pipeline-leak-cause-162319233.html

A gas leak apparently caused by an illegal pipeline tap led authorities to evacuate about 2,000 people Friday in a rural community just north of Mexico City.

The leak sent large plumes of gas billowing into the air and into the surrounding fields. A highway that runs just 150 yards (meters) away from the leak was closed to traffic, as was a train line nearby. [more]

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/gas-explosion-kills-least-1-112918628.html

A regional gas pipeline ruptured early Thursday in Kentucky, causing a massive explosion that killed one person, hospitalized five others, destroyed railroad tracks and forced the evacuation of a nearby mobile home park, authorities said.

The 30-inch wide pipeline (!) moves natural gas under high pressure (!!), so the rupture at about 1 a.m. caused a tremendous amount of damage in the immediate area, authorities said. Firefighters were still working to douse the flames hours later, with trucks repeatedly refilling their tanks and returning to the scene. [more; holy SITH!]

Walloped by heat wave, Greenland sees massive ice melt
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/walloped-heat-wave-greenland-sees-153632106.html

The area of the Greenland ice sheet that is showing indications of melt has been growing daily, and hit a record 56.5% for this year on Wednesday, said Ruth Mottram, a climate scientist with the Danish Meteorological Institute. She says that's expected to expand and peak on Thursday before cooler temperatures slow the pace of the melt.

More than 10 billion tons (11 billion U.S. tons) of ice was lost to the oceans by surface melt on Wednesday alone, creating a net mass ice loss of some 197 billion tons (217 billion U.S. tons) from Greenland in July, she said. [more]
