Event Update For 2019-06-18

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Quote: "A probe has been launched after multiple Canvey residents reported strong smells of gas overnight. Castle Point Council has confirmed its health department is investigating after numerous complaints of residents smelling gas in and around their homes last night. Residents reported online that the smell had been present all day, including in roads such as Hilton Road, Long Road, Willow Close and East Crescent."

Quote: "Calor Gas bosses have since confirmed the site in Thames Road is NOT causing the issue, so residents are left without an answer."

Quote: "Linda Browne, 55, of Canvey Road, said: 'I’ve had to shut my windows as the smell was so strong and quite worrying. It’s all anyone has been talking about on the island and nobody seems to know what is happening. We want to know what is going on - and I don’t understand why nobody knows or is telling us about it.'"

Note: All that stuff they've been telling people was gonna happen by 2100 has begun to happen now. That arbitrary 2100 date was always a bunch of hooey, probably to convince people that any 'real problems' were going to happen after they're dead, so no big deal. Wrong! Climate change deniers should be prepared to look increasingly stupid. Obviously some folks will stay deniers until they're literally on fire and screaming as they burn to death, which will certainly make for some interesting headlines. And how about deadly heatwaves? Those were supposed to be happening by 2100 too. Any of those happening yet?

http://insideclimatenews.org/news/14062019/trump-ethanol-climate-change-benefit-science-questions-emissions-data-usda

Note: I'm sure it's climate-friendly if you don't count the fossil fuels used to run the tractors and harvesters, or the planes that spray the crops, or the trucks which transport the corn to plants, or the trucks that transport the ethanol to wherever it gets blended, or the coal burned at coal plants to provide power to the plants that do the refining and blending, etc, etc. If you count all of that then raw gas or oil pumped straight out of the ground is probably better for the climate. Which is to say, it's all horrible...

Note: It's still just a slight variation and won't do anything to counteract the gigantic greenhouse of carbon we have erected over the planet. Look at SOTT clinging desperately to that 'global cooling' BS though. They're backed into a corner now, and they probably know it, even as it becomes more and more obvious just how HOT the planet is getting. They backed themselves into that corner though, so they don't get any pity from me...

Global Warming Is Pushing Microbes into Damaging Climate Feedback Loops & Raising Health Risks
    http://www.fasterthanexpected.com/2019/06/18/global-warming-is-pushing-microbes-into-damaging-climate-feedback-loops-raising-health-risks/

Now, global warming is supercharging some microbial cycles on a scale big enough to trigger damaging climate feedback loops, research is showing. Bacteria are feasting on more organic material and produce extra carbon dioxide as the planet warms. In the Arctic, a spreading carpet of algae is soaking up more of the sun’s summer rays, speeding melting of the ice.

Deadly pathogenic microbes are also spreading poleward and upward in elevation, killing people, cattle and crops. [more]

    Nanoparticle additives in your food
    https://www.sott.net/article/415259-Nanoparticle-additives-in-your-food

Processed food is the antithesis of a healthy diet for a number of different reasons, the addition of unregulated and often undisclosed chemicals being a significant one. Besides preservatives, emulsifiers, colors and flavors, which are generally listed, there are any number of others that do not have to be disclosed, as they're considered "processing aids."

One such in the U.S.'s largely unregulated, group of food additives are nanoparticles, which are rapidly gaining favor in the food industry. Tests by the Adolphe Merkle Institute of the University of Fribourg and the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office in Switzerland found nanosized titanium dioxide, silicon oxide and talc in 27% of the food products tested. The exact cause of these explosions isn’t clear. In the boy’s case, the device was in good condition and hadn’t shown any problems prior to the explosion, Russell said. [more]

    http://www.fasterthanexpected.com/2019/06/19/study-predicts-more-long-term-sea-level-rise-from-greenland-ice/

In the next 200 years, the ice sheet model shows that melting at the present rate could contribute 19 to 63 inches to global sea level rise, said the team led by scientists at the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. These numbers are at least 80 percent higher than previous estimates, which forecasted up to 35 inches of sea level rise from Greenland’s ice. [more; 200 yrs - no one will be around!]

The glacier has spent decades in retreat until scientists observed an unexpected advance between 2016 and 2017. In addition to growing toward the ocean, the glacier was found to be slowing and thickening. [more]

The first mission involving the autonomous submarine vehicle Autosub Long Range (better known as Boaty McBoatface) has for the first time shed light on a key process linking increasing Antarctic winds to rising sea temperatures. Data collected from the expedition, published today in the scientific journal PNAS, will help climate scientists build more accurate predictions of the effects of climate change on rising sea levels. [anyone remember when the Republicans were the "guardians of fiscal responsibility"?]

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Republican candidate Donald Trump promised he would eliminate the nation’s debt in eight years. Instead, his budgets would add $9.1 trillion during that time. It would increase the U.S. debt to $29 trillion according to Trump’s budget estimates. [more]

Rare clockwise-rotating tornado touched down in South Dakota
    https://www.sott.net/article/415314-Rare-clockwise-rotating-tornado-touched-down-in-South-Dakota

The majority of tornadoes spin counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere, similar to larger-scale low-pressure systems, which produce clouds and precipitation.

In fact, estimates indicate that about 1% of tornadoes in the Northern Hemisphere rotate clockwise, like the one near Estelline on Saturday evening, according to the National Weather Service in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

This rare tornado was on the ground for about 45 seconds and was rated EF0 on the Enhanced Fujita scale by the NWS. It was the first tornado to touch down in South Dakota so far this year, according to NOAA's Storm Prediction Center. [more]

U.S. Steel Plants Are Going Idle, But The Fed Continues To Perpetuate The Myth That Everything Is Just Fine

Even though there is a tremendous amount of evidence to the contrary, the Federal Reserve continues to insist that the U.S. economy is in good shape. On Wednesday, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell told the nation that “the economy has performed relatively well” in 2019 and he insisted that “the baseline outlook is a good one.” Of course he didn’t say anything about our collapsing manufacturing numbers, the worst global trade numbers since the last recession or the “bloodbath” in the U.S. trucking industry. Powell did concede that “the risk of less favorable outcomes has risen”, but other than vague statements like that he really didn’t acknowledge our growing economic problems at all. Considering the fact that Powell has more power over the U.S. economy than anyone else in the entire country, this should deeply concern all of us. To me, Powell’s performance on Wednesday was quite reminiscent of the moment in 2008 when Fed Chair Ben Bernanke told us that the Federal Reserve was not “currently forecasting a recession” after a recession had already begun.

Storms bring tornadoes, floods, power outages across the US

Fallen trees ripped down power lines and crashed into buildings along a line from Texas to Alabama overnight and into Thursday morning, the national Storm Prediction Center reported. Similar damage continued later in the day in parts of Georgia, the Carolinas and southeast Virginia. [more]

I got caught in a squall this afternoon. Drivers couldn't see more than a few feet ahead so traffic slowed to ~ 15 mph, accidents happened on flooded roads, and it took a lot of detouring to get home.

This system is predicted to blow out of the state tomorrow, though it will be a bit windy most of the day.

    Stay safe everyone.
