The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.
A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Note: Not a big fire, but the implications are huge. What is a tree stump but a piece of wood? Tree stumps bursting into flame means wood can burst into flame. That could pose a problem for any building or structure built with wood. I remember a tree stump that burst into flame a few years ago in Texas. A woman happened to be there so she described it. She said it started smoldering then black spots started appearing and then flames appeared. She was going to burn it out herself but she didn't have to, because it burst into flame on its own and burned up right before her eyes. So anything wood could go up in flames at any time...

They've reportedly managed to grow tiny brains, about the size of a pea, in petri dishes inside labs. They say the next step is to link these cavemen brains to robots using neural implants to try and create a kind of Neanderthal cyborg."

Good morning everyone! After the [amateur but good] fireworks last night we left the Afro-bear farm party (probably ~ 200 people total all day). Great time. The firefly display was better than the fireworks - reminded me of bygone days when the insect world was teeming with life.
ReplyDeleteSo how about that - 4 days in a row of garbage truck fires, this last one a double, combining with and a Hull, UK incident! A couple car-haulers also go up in flames.

Bucks County explosions: Chemical company owner charged after morning raids

Following a predawn raid Thursday that netted bombs, guns and a childish drawing of people fleeing a mushroom cloud, Bucks County authorities say they’ve arrested the man suspected in a series of overnight explosions that rattled nerves in Milford Township and beyond. [more]
[The reason they caught the guy was that he over-did it; an occasional huge explosion with no visible damage is one thing, REPEATED explosions in the same geographical area with visible damage holes gets you caught by the ATF/FBI/EPA/state and local LEOs.]

Are we stuck with cement?
http://www.fasterthanexpected.com/2018/06/28/are-we-stuck-with-cement/
Cement is perhaps the most essential ingredient in an economy’s growth. According to the CDP report, the cement industry is the second-largest industrial emitter of carbon after the steel industry. And when accounting for its use in human-made structures, it is responsible for more than a third of the world’s carbon emissions. But unlike the transportation sector, in which a new type of fuel can dramatically decrease the sector’s pollutants, cement’s problem is, well, cemented in its formulation: Limestone is mixed with other raw materials in an immense kiln at high temperatures; as the kiln separates the limestone’s calcium carbonate structure, an extremely dirty strand of carbon is emitted by the ton.
The average wind turbine…needs about 12,400 to 17,700 cubic feet of concrete made with cement. On the conservative end, that’s 57 trucks worth of concrete. [more]

Whoa, I had no idea a wind turbine took that much concrete. Just did some research and a pretty standard 1500-square-foot home with a full basement takes a little over 8 concrete trucks worth of concrete, so a wind turbine takes as much concrete as six or seven medium-sized homes! I can see why though - those big wind turbines are like 300 feet tall with gigantic blades, which means they present a lot of surface area in terms of wind resistance, and you don't want 30-story structures that probably cost a great deal to just be falling over when the wind picks up. Still, that's a lot of concrete!
