2014 - JUN - Spotlight Stories

Category: Fires And Explosions

2014-06-01 - Pallet yard erupts in flame at 1:30 AM, fire spreads to building, in Doncaster (Britain):
http://www.ukwirednews.com/news/1487420/Doncaster+pallet+yard+fire+spreads

Quote: "About 70 firefighters are tackling a fire in Doncaster which has spread from a pallet yard to a nearby building. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service was first called to the pallet yard on Cow House Lane in Armthorpe at about 01:30 BST. It is then thought the fire spread to the nearby West Moor Park Network Centre on Yorkshire Way, where a single building is on fire."

2014-06-01 - Pallets and garden rubbish go up in flames in Glastonbury (Britain):
http://www.centralsomersetgazette.co.uk/crews-called-pallet-Glastonbury/story-21172599-detail/story.html

http://www.somersetlocalnews.co.uk/news/fire-crews-called-to-pallet-fire-in-glastonbury

Quote: "A team from Glastonbury found a heap of pallets and garden rubbish well alight, putting out the fire using an air foam jet."

2014-06-01 - Lumber yard ravaged by huge blaze in Bay City (Michigan):
http://www.ourmidland.com/news/fire-destroys-large-section-of-king-lumber-in-bay-city/article_6875a682-e97f-11e3-bfcb-0019bb2963f4.html

Quote: "Kawkawlin Township Fire Department firefighters stand near the skeletal remains of a building at the King Lumber Company off of Fraser Road in Bay City late on Saturday. The fire, which consumed a large section of the lumber yard, started on Saturday night and continued into Sunday morning as firefighters from multiple fire departments battled the fire."

2014-06-01 - Food business devastated by inferno and explosions, multiple buildings destroyed, in Olivehurst (California):

http://www.appeal-democrat.com/news/large-blaze-at-shoei-foods/article_4d37db68-e954-11e3-844c-001a4bcf6878.html

Quote: "Food Factory Destroyed In massive 200,000 square foot Olivehurst Walnut Plant Inferno Late Saturday Night"

Quote: "Residents said they heard a number of explosions overnight."

Note: Walnuts e.g. wood, so not much different from the lumber yard or the pallet yard fires, just wood in a different shape. A door business was destroyed by fire the day prior in New Ulm (Minnesota), mentioned in the 2014-05-31 update, though that fire did also involve several parked collector cars burning along with the wood business. From the full hypothesis: "Wood-related fires will escalate, including fires at pallet companies, wood-carving businesses, furniture businesses, door companies, cabinet companies, etc."

2014-06-02 - Subway fire erupts, smoke fills subway train, in coastal Manhattan (New York):
http://www.complex.com/city-guide/2014/06/tunnel-fire-fills-7-train-car-with-smoke
http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/7-Train-Track-Fire-Queens-Grand-Central-Smoky-Train-261617321.html
http://abcnews.go.com/US/passengers-trapped-smoke-billows-york-city-subway-cars/story?id=23969312
http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/video-news/video-fire-breaks-out-on-new-york-subway-line-30325156.html

Quote: "A Queens-bound train on the subway's No. 7 line filled with smoke Monday night near Grand Central Terminal, forcing the train to be evacuated and disrupting service for several hours, MTA officials say."

Quote: "Though ABC News says some passengers passed out due to the smoke, no injuries were reported."

Note: A 45-year-old man collapsed and died on a subway train in the Bronx not long ago, mentioned in the 2014-05-04 update. And remember last year, when officials pumped an innocuous heavier-than-air gas into the subways in New York City? (Officials did the same in London too.) That was to see where heavier-than-air hydrogen sulfide would go once in the subway systems and try to head off problems like this. Not to disparage the effort though - who knows how bad things would be right now if they hadn't taken any steps at all. The NYC subway gas test was mentioned in the 2013-04-26 update and the London subway gas test was mentioned in the 2013-06-14 update...

2014-06-02 - Train engine bursts into flame shortly before 3 AM in coastal New Haven (Connecticut):
http://www.newhavenbulletin.com/?p=18898
http://wane.com/2014/06/02/norfolk-southern-train-engine-catches-fire-in-new-haven/
http://logpedia.com/innerpage_rail-news.php?id=52793&article=36&news=7
http://wishtv.com/2014/06/02/train-engine-catches-fire-in-new-haven/

Quote: "A Norfolk Southern train engine caught fire on the tracks in New Haven early Monday morning. Shortly before 3:30 a.m., firefighters were called the railroad tracks near Green Street."

Note: Trains still seem like the safest mode of transportation. But given the problems with planes, boats and standard ground vehicles I guess that really isn't saying a whole lot...

2014-06-03 - Pakistani jet crashes into buses and explodes at bus terminal in coastal Karachi (Pakistan), 4 killed, 9 injured:

Quote: "Quoting the local police, AFP said two people on the ground were also killed and nine injured. Sajid Sadozai, a senior police official, said two buses parked at the terminal were destroyed while another was damaged. Another security official said the crashed plane was a Mirage fighter jet. Pakistan has a large fleet of refurbished Mirages. Eyewitnesses were quoted as saying that four buses caught fire when the plane’s wreckage fell on them. The hospital sources were quoted as saying that at least two among the injured were in critical condition."

2014-06-03 - Small plane crashes into parking lot at McDonald's in Monroe in Ouachita Parish (Louisiana), 1 injured:

http://www.telegraphindia.com/1140606/jsp/nation/story_18484371.jsp

Quote: "Two teenaged brothers were charred to death on Wednesday, while their uncle suffered burn injuries when the car they were travelling in caught fire in South West Delhi's Kapashera area, police said."

Quote: "The rear doors of the car reportedly got jammed and the boys were not able to escape."

Quote: "In another incident in the national capital, around 70 shanties were gutted in the Chanakyapuri area of New Delhi district this evening."

Quote: "A paediatric surgeon today moved a petition in the Supreme Court seeking a probe into what he says are growing instances of cars catching fire spontaneously, often killing the occupants."

Quote: "His petition says that in several such car fires, the occupants were burnt alive as the doors and windows jammed, cutting off escape."

Note: Hydrogen sulfide fires will often involve electrified copper which can take out the electrical system in a vehicle. If you have power locks/windows then you can end up trapped inside a burning vehicle, and that can prove to be very fatal very fast. From the full hypothesis: "Vehicles of all kinds will continue to burn, as they have been, and the number of vehicular fires will continue to escalate, inevitably resulting in a corresponding increase in the number of people being incinerated in their vehicles."

2014-06-04 - Car bursts into flame on street in Beloit (Wisconsin):
http://www.620wtmj.com/news/local/Bystanders-help-couple-stuck-in-car-on-fire-261918231.html
http://www.nbc15.com/home/headlines/Coupled-rescued-from-burning-car-261923901.html

http://wsau.com/news/articles/2014/jun/05/two-men-save-elderly-couple-from-car-fire-in-beloit/

Quote: "According to the report, the Fregeau couple were not able to unlock the doors or escape the car through the windows. Golden and a second bystander - Kerry Mann - sprang into action and were able to break two of the windows in order to get the couple out of the car."

Note: I've mentioned this problem before. Hydrogen sulfide is reactive with copper, especially electrified copper. So sometimes these fires affect the electrical system in vehicles, like the boat with no one aboard that burst into flame and started itself then took off across Coffs Harbour on fire, smashing into other boats, mentioned in the 2013-05-03 update. But besides vehicles sometimes starting themselves, another problem with these fires is that electric locks and windows may stop working and then you're in a burning car with the oxygen supply rapidly disappearing and no way to open doors or roll windows down. So, it's probably wise to keep something handy in your vehicle with which to break out windows in an emergency, at least if you have electric locks/windows...

2014-06-04 - Car bursts into flame, brakes stop working, woman leaps from moving car at mall in Victor (New York):
http://www.13wham.com/news/features/top-stories/stories/woman-jumps-moving-car-at-mall-12584.shtml

Quote: "'She was driving the car and realized that there was something coming from under the hood, smoke of some kind,' said Stromfield. 'When she went to stop the car, she didn't have any brakes. The pedal went all the way to the floor. So she chose to get out of the car.' Sarah Coon, 20, of Shortsville, bailed while the car was still moving. Authorities found her sitting on the pavement 40 yards away from the fire. The forward progress of her car was stopped as it crashed into three parked and empty vehicles. A second car also caught fire."

Note: I'm feeling more sedentary every day!

2014-06-05 - British aircraft carrier 'HMS Queen Elizabeth' bursts into flame at 6:37 AM at shipyard in coastal Fife (Scotland):
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-27713375

http://www.thecourier.co.uk/news/local/fife/no-impact-on-construction-after-fire-onboard-hms-queen-elizabeth-aircraft-carrier-at-rosyth-1.406654

Quote: "The fire comes ahead of a royal visit to the docks by The Queen who will officially name the carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth on 4 July. MOD officials confirmed that the naming will be a traditional champagne ceremony. Later in July, the dock at Rosyth will be flooded to allow HMS Queen Elizabeth to float for the first time. Sea trials will then begin in 2017 with flight trials of Lightning II aircraft starting the following year."

Note: Not the first British aircraft carrier to catch fire in recent times. Another British aircraft carrier caught fire in February while docked in coastal Portsmouth (Britain), mentioned in the 2014-02-26 update. Ironically, the carrier caught fire while Prince Charles was there, since it's going to be named after him. Awkwaaard!

2014-06-05 - Cruise ship under construction, 'Anthem of the Seas', bursts into flame at shipyard in Papenburg (Germany):

http://www.seanews.com.tr/article/ACCIDENTS/129172/Quantum-of-the-Seas/

Note: Can't even get them off the assembly line before they start burning nowadays. Reminds me of an incident where a brand new semi tractor burst into flame right off the assembly line while undergoing road testing at a plant in Lower Macungie Township (Pennsylvania), which destroyed the semi before it ever even touched a road, mentioned in the 2014-04-15 update...

2014-06-06 - Landfill 'dumpcano' continues to burn, putrid odor hits Iqaluit (Canada), two schools closed:
http://www.cbc.ca/m/touch/canada/story/1.2667156
http://news.lokalee.com/stubborn-iqaluit-garbage-dump-fire-forces-2-schools-to-close/
http://news.ca.msn.com/canada/iqaluit-numberdumpcano-smoke-forces-2-schools-to-close-1
http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/06/06/smouldering-dumpcano-forces-school-closures-and-health-warnings-as-putrid-smoke-blows-through-iqaluit/

Quote: "An unquenchable fire that has been smouldering for weeks deep within the bowels of Iqaluit’s garbage dump has now forced the closure of schools and prompted a health warning as thick, white smoke billows over the Nunavut capital. Referred to locally as the 'dumpcano' — the fire has been burning since May 20 and there’s no end in sight, said Iqaluit fire chief Luc Grandmaison."

Quote: "The Department of Health has once again issued an advisory asking people with heart and lung disease, the elderly and the very young to stay indoors as much as possible, with the windows closed and air exchangers turned off."

Quote: "It’s the fourth fire at the Iqaluit dump since December."

Note: They gave up in May on putting this fire out. That putrid odor may very well contain some hydrogen sulfide. It probably does and if so then the folks there may suffer long-term effects like kidney damage, brain damage, heart damage, eye problems, compromised immune systems, all kinds of stuff. The British didn't weaponize hydrogen sulfide and use it to kill German soldiers in trench warfare in WWI because the effects are NICE. From the full hypothesis: "Trash-related facilities such as recycling centers and landfills will burn hard too, as hydrogen sulfide is absorbed into flammable absorbent materials like wood, paper, cardboard, straw, hay, dried brush, generic trash, clothing, cotton, wool."

2014-06-08 - Toxic gas hits coastal Rayong (Thailand), thousands sickened and evacuated:
http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/site/?pageid=event_desc&edis_id=HZ-20140609-44077-THA

Quote: "Thousands of people were forced to evacuate their homes in Rayong's Ban Chang district shortly past midnight and spend the night on a football pitch after smelling something like toxic gas. Children and the elderly suffered eye irritation and retching from what they suspected was a gas leak."

Note: Yeah, hydrogen sulfide and methane gas are leaking from the oceans, seas and lakes, so I guess you could call that a 'gas leak'.

Quote: "An investigation of the four industrial parks in the area found no source of the smell. A factory outside an industrial estate that was suspected of spreading the foul odour was found closed about a week ago for maintenance."

Note: So they couldn't find the source. The factory that they wanted to blame has been closed for a week. Considering the symptoms, especially the eye irritation and vomiting, this sounds VERY MUCH like hydrogen sulfide blowing in off the ocean right onto this coastal area. This isn't the first time something like this has happened. Coastal Kuwait City was told to shelter in place because of hydrogen sulfide, blamed on a leak from a gas well, mentioned in the 2012-10-17 update. That was the first time in human history that any major metropolitan area had ever been told to shelter in place because of hydrogen sulfide. On the island of Jamaica in 2013, dozens of people sickened and collapsed unconscious on the streets as 'noxious fumes' hit them, mentioned in the 2013-02-28 update. And of course there was the stinkfest in Southern California in late 2012 that was caused by hydrogen sulfide, blamed on emissions from the Salton Sea.

This event is a harbinger of what's to come...

2014-06-10 - Five people suddenly die, three others knocked unconscious, at home in coastal Ondo State (Nigeria):
http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/site/?pageid=event_desc&edis_id=BH-20140612-44106-NGA

Quote: "Five members of a family of eight mysteriously died today at ijaro quarters in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo state. The tragedy involved a mother-in-law, three children and a brother-in-law who were found dead in the same building. The husband, Kehinde Ajayi, his wife, Banke and their son, Samuel Ajayi were also found unconscious and were rushed to the hospital for medical attention."

Note: Two men were found dead in their running vehicle, foaming from the mouth, in Asaba (Nigeria), mentioned in the 2014-12-12 update. A man and woman were found dead in a room in Ogun (Nigeria), mentioned in the 2013-10-17 update. A couple and their daughter were found dead in their home in Owerri (Nigeria), mentioned in the 2013-03-14 update. DOZENS of corpses were found floating in the Ezu River in Nigeria, no sign of injury, mentioned in the 2013-01-19 update. Many terrible fires have plagued Nigeria too, especially in and around the coast near Lagos. Hydrogen sulfide is not just deadly, it is highly flammable. And those are just SOME of the incidents in Nigeria ALONE. Many other events have occurred involving multiple people mysteriously dying, sometimes foaming at the mouth or bleeding out from nose, mouth and ears, all over the world, more near coasts - since the hydrogen sulfide is primarily coming from the oceans, seas and lakes - but elsewhere as well. No country is immune. This is a planetary extinction event, not a geographically localized problem...

Quote: "Six vehicles set to be auctioned off at Bel Air Auto Auction were damaged by fire early Wednesday morning, the Office of the State Fire Marshal said. The fire, reported at 3:08 a.m., started in a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup in a pre-auction lot and extended to five adjacent vehicles, according to a Fire Marshal's Office notice of investigation."

Quote: "The first fire was reported around midday Tuesday at the intersection of Route 24 and Boulton Street. Six more were reported around 3 a.m. Wednesday at the Bel Air Auto Auction. An eighth auto fire happened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 2200 block of Historic Drive in Forest Hill."

Note: Whew, so two cars went up in flames in separate incidents (sounds like they were being driven when they ignited) and then six parked cars went up in flames in the wee hours at an auto business too...

Fast forward a bit and we might just see stories like this: 'In a bizarre coincidence, London, Leeds and Birmingham have been destroyed today by suspected gas explosions.' http://www.newschannel5.com/story/25791161/wildlife-suddenly-dying-on-old-hickory

Quote: "Gentry explained that two ducks flew in and started having seizure-like symptoms. They were shaking and couldn't control their movements. 'And within five minutes of that happening, they were gone,' he added. Each duck that died did so in a similar fashion, some even dropping from the air after taking off."

Quote: "Over the next 24 hours they found more than 20 dead ducks. Monday, they even found a dead raccoon and woodpecker in the same area."

Note: Just like all the people having seizures and 'medical events' and dying near bodies of water. Hydrogen sulfide is neurotoxic and damages brains (among other things), and can cause seizures, unconsciousness, memory loss, hallucinations, insanity, death. It's also a water-soluble gas and can poison you via contact with contaminated water. Birds are particularly vulnerable to toxins because of their low body weight and rapid respiration, thus the 'canary in a coal mine' thing. When I smelled something funny in the air and a flock of birds dropped dead out of the sky across the street from me early in 2011, a couple of days after the birds had dropped dead from the sky in Beebe (Arkansas), that was when I became 100% sure that another methane and hydrogen sulfide planetary extinction event was under way. All the fires, explosions, HazMat events, and people and animals sickening and/or dropping dead since then definitely haven't made me any less certain of that.

Your government isn't going to tell you this. It might, understandably, cause panic, crash the markets, yada yada. Oblivious people are easy to manage, but scared people, not so much. They'd prefer you either not know what's going on at all, or at least that you keep quiet about it until you're dead yourself. That means that it is up to YOU to face reality and do what you can to protect yourself and those you care about. Or die, if that's your preference. Your choice, your consequences...

http://www.channel3000.com/news/mans-body-found-in-submerged-car/26540300

Note: The atmospheric contamination problem can kill you in a number of ways when vehicles are involved. You can simply be struck dead with one breath of hydrogen sulfide at 1 part per thousand concentration while sitting in your vehicle, which is probably what happened to the mother and her two kids in Hagerstown and the man in East Spencer. The gas can ignite your vehicle, possibly while knocking you unconscious and/or disabling power locks and windows, and then you burn to death, which is probably what happened to the man who burned to death in the van there. You can lose consciousness while driving and slam head-on into traffic or hit a tree or pole or building and die that way. Someone ELSE can succumb while driving and hit you and kill you. Your brakes and/or tires may ignite and that can cause a fiery crash that can kill you. If you're driving in, near or downwind of a low-lying area like a body of water then you may lose consciousness, veer into the water and breathe water until dead, which is likely what happened to the woman in Antigua and the man in Schofield...

The tower reported it saw the plane in trouble, then saw flames. The pilot fell about 1,000 feet and landed about 300 yards from the plane, he said. He was killed instantly on impact."

Note: And here's yet another plane catching fire. You can't just pull over if your plane catches fire like the people often do with all the ground vehicle fires, so if you're still brave enough to fly in a small plane then you might want to have a parachute strapped on, lest you have to face the choice this man faced: burn to death or fall 1000 feet. Tough choice there...

Quote: "The U.S. Air Force on Monday temporarily halted flights at a Florida air base of 26 F-35A fighter jets built by Lockheed Martin Corp after a jet caught fire as it was preparing to take off for a training flight..."

Note: The last plane to burst into flame was waaaay back in...two days ago, when a small plane took off in Livermore (California) then burst into flame and the pilot had to jump out without a parachute and fall 1000 feet, or burn to death, mentioned in the 2014-06-21 update. He jumped, and died.

These F-35As cost more than $100 million EACH. I don't think this one was destroyed though. But at that price, I wondered, do these cost more than an equivalent weight in gold would cost? Welp, I did the math. They weigh more than 70,000 pounds fully loaded and that much gold would run you about a billion dollars, so an F-35A is about 1/7 to 1/10 the price of an equivalent weight in gold at today's price for gold. Or to look at it another way, if you wanted an F-35A, and you were allowed to own one, then you'd need to trade in more than FOUR TONS of gold to get your hands on one. They're planning on buying like 2500 of these things and unless they actually succeed in bringing the per unit price down below $100 million, which they haven't, then that fleet of F-35As may very well cost MORE than one would have if one sold every single ounce of the gold that is supposedly in Fort Knox, which is about 8,133 metric tons...

Quote: "Kentucky State Police say 35-year-old Billy Tindle, of Hawesville, had a panic attack and blacked out behind the wheel as he was heading east on the Bypass."

Note: As time goes on and the atmospheric contamination worsens, driving is obviously going to be quite a problem. People will be losing consciousness, having 'medical events' or dying while driving, brakes will fail as people drive, and vehicles will be bursting into flame and/or exploding as people drive too. These things are already happening all over but this problem will get much worse. That will cause ripple effects, like hay not getting to destinations to feed horses and cows, food not getting to grocery stores, gas not getting to gas stations, medicines not getting to drug stores, that sort of thing...

John Szymanski, Wharton County Precinct 2 Constable, said, 'He was there when it exploded. It was just some of injuries from the blast itself.'"

2014-06-26 - Underground electrical explosion and fire rocks coastal Larchmont (New York):
http://westchester.news12.com/news/transformer-explosion-rocks-larchmont-neighborhood-on-addee-circle-1.8577762

Quote: "Residents of Addee Circle say an underground transformer exploded and caught fire causing flames to shoot from the ground around 6:30 p.m. They say about eight homes had to be evacuated."

Note: Hydrogen sulfide is a heavier-than-air gas so it will seek out low-lying areas like underground facilities. It's also corrosive to concrete and steel, so gas, water and sewer pipes will disintegrate faster, making gas leaks and sinkholes more common. It's also reactive with rusty iron/steel and electrified copper, so it will act as the igniter for gas leaks and it will just plain cause problems with electrical infrastructure of all kinds...

2014-06-30 - Road explodes and smokes in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam):
http://www.thanhniennews.com/society/explosion-splits-vietnam-hub-road-into-parts-in-heavy-rain-27318.html

Quote: "A road in the center of Ho Chi Minh City erupted on Monday in smoke, frightening dozens of local citizens and passers-by. Many were taking shelter from the rain under District 1’s Bui Huu Nghia Bridge at around 11 a.m. on June 16, when a loud explosion sound made them all jump. The explosion, coming from beneath the surface of Hoang Sa Street sent two wide schisms through the surface of the asphalt, each more than 2 meters long and 3 centimeters wide. The cracks are four meter away from each other. None was injured in the incident, since the street’s section was empty at the time it occurred. Local Nguyen Thi Tuong, whose home is close to the scene, told Tuoi Tre that she was cooking her lunch when she suddenly heard a loud noise. When she looked outside, the surface of the road was totally destroyed and some smoke was rising from the cracked asphalt. The smoke only stopped after 20 minutes, a witness said, adding that the pavement was broken into trenches."

Note: Well, we've already seen a river on fire, in coastal Wenzhou (China), in March, mentioned in the 2014-03-08 update, and there have been plenty of underground explosions and fires of all kinds, so now I guess we may start seeing ROADS spontaneously exploding?! That'll certainly make driving even more interesting than it already is!
