Also sad: he was not the first former Phillies player to do so. Several years ago former Royals pitcher Bob Tufts noted that he and several other ex-Royals had been diagnosed with or died of cancer as well. Not as old as jellyfish, but much older than the Permian-Triassic extinction, which means sea lice survived the 'Great Dying', so they're the kind of life you'd expect to do okay in a repeat of the Permian-Triassic. There will be a few winners and a great many losers in terms of which species survive and which go extinct. Looks like sea lice may be one of the few winners, so I bet we do see more attacks like this one in Australia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_louse

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leptostraca

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambrian
Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-45324405363037771782017-08-07T07:12:40.082-05:002017-08-07T07:12:40.082-05:00News Links, August 7, 2017

Apologists will say this is due to less exposure to the Obamacare exchanges - of course it is, that's the point, these companies specialize in skimming the cream off of the healthcare market, leaving the pre-existing conditions to the public system. That is the fundamental flaw in the U.S. system. Coupled with the fact that fewer and fewer U.S. companies are providing health insurance as a benefit, it's a recipe for total system collapse. Once cyclicals become overbought, and every other sector is played out, there is nowhere else to go.

What was once considered a recession is now considered peak recovery. It's a fictional story about an environmental disaster at some town on the East Coast, where hormone-laden chicken poop gets into the water and contaminates the nearby bay and turns some sea creatures into flesh-eating monsters. It's very plausible, and told documentary-style, and seems quite similar to this sea lice attack.

The environment must be changing in ways that favor these sea lice. Maybe whatever eats the sea lice has died off, so their population is exploding, or maybe there's a lot of dead fish in the water there, which would attract sea lice. Whatever the reason, this seems like one of those things where if we see it happen once, it's gonna happen again and again. If people's skin starts getting eaten off regularly at beaches in Australia (or anywhere else, for that matter), that might have some impact on tourism.Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-32761786868412626722017-08-07T06:06:20.498-05:002017-08-07T06:06:20.498-05:00Check this out:
