I have a great story to tell you about my one and only visit to an island, it's epic! The island was the Northwestern part of Puerto Rico and we were staying in a lovely lodge called the Lazy Parrot, in Rincon...... anyway, while my band was catching up on some sleep, I took a walk to the beach and found a deserted resort on the beach. it was awesome. Long story short, I took the guys back to that place on our second night on the island and we had our before the gig " safety meeting" down on the beach at this abandoned resort. It was surreal and I'll never forget what happened when we started back to our car.....they apparently have cisterns for collect rain water buried around the structures, needless to say we were walking back to our car and I just happened to catch a glint in what appeared to be water. What I saw and did next freaked out everyone with me. In the water was eyes.....eyes that were pleading for help.....so I did. I reached right into the blackness and pulled out the most grateful little dog I had ever seen. She was so happy to be off the body of the dog keeping her above water. The sad thing is I didn't notice her or the cistern the day before so who knows how long they had been there. Now, I know every place we played on the island that lovely trip is gone. I have a great sadness as I do not know if anyone we met there is okay or not.
Well, thanks for letting me share and thanks for the updates.
Fran ~F~https://www.blogger.com/profile/14093179509642684214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-68761760929643815642017-09-28T12:27:08.442-05:002017-09-28T12:27:08.442-05:00There's a Rod Serling-esque feel to things now...There's a Rod Serling-esque feel to things now!

'A small planet surrounded by a thin film of atmosphere inhabited by a civilization too oblivious to survive. Case in point. Thousands of birds drop dead from the sky on an island in Indonesia, more drop dead on the coast in Australia. By tomorrow even the more aware denizens of this planet will have forgotten as they continue trudging wearily through the mounting chaos on their inexorable one-way journey to...the Twilight Zone.'Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-13600980992724270392017-09-28T09:55:54.019-05:002017-09-28T09:55:54.019-05:00I discovered the first one accidently. The second ...I discovered the first one accidently. The second I didn't know about. I use the date links on the right to go back for ytd comparisons occasionally. If you ever wanted to, Jonny, you could "mine" your accumulated data [comprehensive stat analysis], perhaps by categories, ranking regions for whatever you wanted, like small plane crashes within 50 miles of an airport, people dropping dead by city/town - all kinds of ways. It would be interesting but probably irrelevant to our upcoming demise.

Good links! Turns out it was a fatal accident, caused by a car going the wrong way on an on/off ramp colliding with a tractor trailer @ 11 pm and, this morning, the road is STILL closed. I've never seen so many emergency vehicles in one place. They're still trying to figure out if anyone else was in the car (it was so mangled they couldn't tell - arrgghh, gruesome)!

Oh there's lots of weird stuff goin' on. I've been feeding the local birds (cardinals, blue jays, woodpeckers, smaller birds, morning doves, and other creatures like bunnies and chipmunks all summer long, but for the last couple weeks now - there aren't ANY birds at the feeders. I did see the chipmunk, but no rabbits lately either. A birder acquaintance of my wife (at work) said it may be due to predatory hawks and falcons in the area. It's never happened before, since I've been here. I just started that at the beginning of this month, so that's as far back as you can click backwards in time unless I wanna go back and edit a bunch of pages, which I don't. Heh. Not particularly useful, but those two images weren't being used for anything, link-wise, so I figgered why not make them do something reasonably logical.Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.com
