But several climate scientists contacted by The Post argue that this is unnecessary.
“If any errors were present, they could have been fixed with minor editing,” said atmospheric scientist Ken Caldeira of the Carnegie Institution for Science in an emailed comment, who also noted that he’s never heard of any climate scientist objecting to any information on the website. “There was no cause for a wholesale review of the site’s materials.” [more]

Senior policy adviser says Trump’s EPA chief is here to help the coal industry
http://www.desdemonadespair.net/2017/05/senior-policy-adviser-says-trumps-epa.html

Top staffers at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are signaling they are on the side of the coal industry with remarks given by senior policy advisor Mandy Gunasekara at the coal industry's Eastern Fuel Buyers conference.

The new EPA administration signals a departure from President Barack Obama's EPA, which passed actions like the Clean Power Plan and the Waters of the United States Rule to limit power plant emissions and support water protection.

The Trump administration has rolled back 23 environmental protections to date. The greatest shame is the absence of a sense of tragedy
http://robinwestenra.blogspot.com/2017/05/climate-change-greatest-shame-is.html

Our best scientists tell us insistently that a calamity is unfolding, that the life-support systems of the Earth are being damaged in ways that threaten our survival. Yet in the face of these facts we carry on as usual.

Most citizens ignore or downplay the warnings; many of our intellectuals indulge in wishful thinking; and some influential voices declare that nothing at all is happening, that the scientists are deceiving us. Yet the evidence tells us that so powerful have humans become that we have entered this new and dangerous geological epoch, which is defined by the fact that the human imprint on the global environment has now become so large and active that it rivals some of the great forces of nature in its impact on the functioning of the Earth system.
