Loggers, farming, and the drought has killed off the whole ecosystem in places - it's dying just like the oceans.

TomAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-89468936054273821952014-08-25T11:47:29.303-05:002014-08-25T11:47:29.303-05:00Blue-white flashes in the sky? And methane was found in the ground around 19 homes in Santa Maria in California (2013-01-18 update). There are methane deposits all up and down the coast there.Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-67123892540209711812014-08-25T11:44:07.784-05:002014-08-25T11:44:07.784-05:00'Qatar: The Detroit Of The Middle East!'
...'Qatar: The Detroit Of The Middle East!'

Once upon a time, that would even have been a compliment!

Sad about the rainforests. When I was a kid, a friend of mine basically hitch-hiked his way from one end of the Amazon River to the other. He said it was an incredible journey, took several months. So that was always my 'escape hatch' plan too: if the world got crazy enough, I'd just move to the rainforest and live a nice simple life, eat a lot of fish, try not to get eaten by anything else. Looks like the rainforest isn't gonna be around for a lot longer now though and it's definitely not what it once was.Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-61110232986687538362014-08-25T11:23:58.869-05:002014-08-25T11:23:58.869-05:00Hey Jonny: every day, more proof that we've g...Hey Jonny: every day, more proof that we've gone too far and triggered too many self-reinforcing feedbacks that interact and influence each other. One among these many is methane seeping from all over the formerly frozen permafrost, warming lakes and seas, and even in the boreal forests, which, like the Brazilian rainforest - is now a SOURCE of CO2 (and methane) instead of soaking it up (due to the on-going drought there). We haven't even discussed the continuing radiation coming from Fukushima (and all the other nuke plants, cooling pools, used weapons and medical applications that will also be emitting this deadly stuff once the electrical grid fails). We're in deep shit!

Here's a sign of the times that we'll be seeing more of here in the U.S. as time goes on:

https://autos.yahoo.com/news/cars-being-abandoned-left-qatar-133031192.html

TomAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-20285190153862506752014-08-25T08:15:11.779-05:002014-08-25T08:15:11.779-05:00Jonny - you mentioned EQ lights yesterday in the c...Jonny - you mentioned EQ lights yesterday in the comments. My brother - noted clathrate gun skeptic - who lives in Santa Rosa, told me he saw multiple blue-white flashes of light in the sky immediately post-EQ. And you're telling me that might be methane? Holy cow. KidIcarusnoreply@blogger.com
