Good analysis Jonny. And you're correct in that these structures HAVE been engulfed in huge fires. It's BOTH!

TomAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-7163751368109042762014-03-19T09:03:56.757-06:002014-03-19T09:03:56.757-06:00Also, for the rigs and ships - there are no geogra...Also, for the rigs and ships - there are no geographic features to lift a heavier-than-air gas up and give it elevation, like hills or buildings, just flat ocean, nothing to fly over and attain any lift and then fall back down onto the ships.Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-33848844093577718812014-03-19T08:55:18.453-06:002014-03-19T08:55:18.453-06:00I was puzzled about oil rigs too, and cruise ships...I was puzzled about oil rigs too, and cruise ships for that matter. But hydrogen sulfide is a heavier-than-air gas, and those oil rigs are way elevated off the surface of the ocean, same with the decks on the ships. They're way more elevated above the surface than most houses or vehicles. There also aren't THAT many rigs+ships compared to buildings+vehicles, and even with the disparity in numbers, some oil rigs and ships HAVE burst into flame and/or exploded, especially since that BP blowout, so they aren't invulnerable. Boats lower to the ground - like sailboats and little yachts and stuff - seem way more vulnerable. Also, if oil companies have been quietly nationalized - very possible, strategic, energy, national defense, blah blah - then they're being run by those who know what's going on, which means they'll probably have some protective measures in place beyond what the common folk have access to.Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-89903788699389267402014-03-19T08:37:27.860-06:002014-03-19T08:37:27.860-06:00Daj should be glad he's not around to see the ...Daj should be glad he's not around to see the mess we've made of civilization. Instead of promoting and practicing peace - good for all - a few in power opted to use their power to practice war and the commodification of everything for themselves - we all lose. Not real bright dem humans.

Lot of electrical infrastructure being destroyed lately. Where's all the money going to come from to fix any of it?

Interesting, that one story where they actually acknowledged the H2S in the air and had people "stay back" (I got a better idea - get the hell outta there!)

Man, when your number's up, there's no place to run. How about that truck involved in a pile-up and then destroyed by fire less than a week later?

And the "coincidences"? Oh man, once in a while may be coincidental, but all the time? CA - MON!

Speaking of the Gulf of Mexico, did you see where BP (yep, same bunch) is now allowed to resume drilling in the Gulf. Why doesn't the H2S thwart the rigs (or all of them - they can't be that lucky to sit out there day after day, night after night and never have a plume blow over them). Just wondering. It's weird, it doesn't turn up where one would expect it, but now it's creeping into civilization all over the place.

They should have made some kind of requirement to building anything, that after its outlived its usefulness it must be dismantled and the materials salvaged for other potential projects if and whenever possible. [Never happen. Not enough energy.]

So now we have CARGO SHIPS colliding?! "Do you know how big those suckers are! City blocks long! They're gargantuan! How the %^(/ do you hit one of them?"
I can just hear the insurance adjusters screaming into phone lines . . .

You should start another category - something for fire stations - it's like every week another one burns or sustains some kind of damage. This event was complete 3 Stooges material. Geez, who was driving, Moe? or maybe Shemp!

Your Other Stories of Interest are amazing. i'm in awe of how you even find this stuff.

Thanks again, Jonny

TomAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
