Must be capable of supplying clean water to the inhabitants. Must be capable of supplying energy to the inhabitants. Must have enough manufacturing capability to manufacture parts for the habitat when needed, or some means of trading with other habitats that can. Must be capable of producing food for the inhabitants, or some means of trading with other habitats that grow food. (The more habitats there are, and the bigger they are, the more specialization that is possible.)Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-61460060662100305752013-10-25T18:49:47.314-05:002013-10-25T18:49:47.314-05:00How would you describe a Plan b habitat? How would you describe a Plan b habitat?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-78034013442438145432013-10-25T18:45:06.894-05:002013-10-25T18:45:06.894-05:00I have no idea. I mean, we ARE trying some stuff, ...I have no idea. I mean, we ARE trying some stuff, to slow it down. How effective those things are remains to be seen. Traditionally, if you have a methane and hydrogen sulfide problem with, say, a landfill, one tactic used is to surround the landfill with ozone generators and fires. But how can we surround the oceans with ozone generators and fires? They surround US! So that won't work on this scale.

They detected caffeine in the ocean waters off the Pacific Northwest, no reasonable explanation for it to be there. That was shortly after I posted about a science article showing caffeine reacts away hydrogen sulfide. They probably read the same article and gave it a try. No reason NOT to try it. Did it work? How well? I don't know, wish I did.

But this KIND of problem tends to accelerate hyperbolically, the rate of escalation itself increasing, and that's what it's looking like. So that means the escalation is apt to be dramatic. Once those 'mystery booms' start hitting populated areas and wiping out towns, we'll be just about out of time. That's not happening yet, so we've still got a bit of fight left in us, and a bit of time left. I hope that time is being used to create more Plan B habitats, because our time of living on the surface of the Earth is drawing to a close.
Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-78276266197576096132013-10-25T18:35:19.620-05:002013-10-25T18:35:19.620-05:00how fast do you think this trend will accelerate?how fast do you think this trend will accelerate?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-37880112404429401252013-10-25T17:47:21.631-05:002013-10-25T17:47:21.631-05:00Got me. Only been watching these events for about ...Got me. Only been watching these events for about 4 years, and only closely for about 3 years. During that time the escalation has been dramatic, so if you wanted to go back 10 years then I'm sure the escalation would be even MORE dramatic. I don't really care much what happened 10 years ago, personally. That planes and homes and businesses and vehicles are routinely exploding and/or burning and people are smeling 'rotten egg' and 'sulfur' smells and dropping dead NOW is more my concern.

Obviously, this past year has been particularly terrible. Never before had the Inner Harbor in Baltimore suddenly turned milky green-white and smelled of sulfur, with all the fish dying. Never before in human history had a major metropolitan area been told to shelter-in-place because of hydrogen sulfide, but that happened in Kuwait City. And all these 'mystery booms', sometimes with an accompanying 'flash of light', those are a recent phenomenon, at least at the frequency with which they are occurring - last two years.

The British government says that underground electrical fires tripled from 2011 to 2012, and it's obviously gotten worse since then.Insurers for recycling businesses are pulling out because there are too many fires, which only got REALLY bad this year.

And so on. Obvious escalation is obvious. But if you're not convinced, not a problem, because the escalation will continue, and just when you think things can't possibly get any worse...that's when things are going to get waaaaay worse. Reality itself will convince you or it will kill you.Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-21802822796417070782013-10-25T17:31:48.904-05:002013-10-25T17:31:48.904-05:00what is the incidence of these events compared to ...what is the incidence of these events compared to say 10yrs ago?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-21252661333689499252013-10-24T12:03:14.538-05:002013-10-24T12:03:14.538-05:00Also, you posted that message at 11:11. I guess the bottom line is, lots of planes are coming down smoking, or with fires (small or large), or with fire alarms 'mistakenly' going off, or with the odor of smoke, or with 'haze' in the belly. And one story at a time, they're trying hard to make things not look alarming. But the TREND - that looks alarming to me!Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-80154278111256440442013-10-24T11:11:35.425-05:002013-10-24T11:11:35.425-05:00The Delta flight problem for Tuesday, mentions a s...The Delta flight problem for Tuesday, mentions a second Delta flight that had problems (not the AA flight). When I first saw the story tuesday morning, the news was that BOTH planes that had problems ORIGINATED from ATLANTA. Now when I search on the story it says the other plane was in route to atlanta, so not sure which is true. If both planes originated from atlanta than it seems likely to follow your hypothesis. Cant find a story on just the other plane (that returned to the airport it left from). They claim it was a coffee pot 'blaze'.
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57608604/two-delta-flights-make-emergency-landings/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
