Event Update For 2020-08-10

http://jumpingjackflashhypothesis.blogspot.com/2012/02/jumping-jack-flash-hypothesis-its-gas.html

The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

A. More fires and more explosions, especially along the coasts, but everywhere generally.
B. Many more animal die-offs, of all kinds, and especially oceanic species.
C. More multiples of people will be found dead in their homes, as if they'd dropped dead.
D. More corpses found in low-lying areas, all over the world.
E. More unusual vehicular accidents.
F. Improved unemployment numbers as people die off.

Cosmic rays increase remarkably as solar activity shows persistent decline, resembles Dalton minimum of 1790 - 1830
    https://watchers.news/2020/08/12/cosmic-rays-increase-remarkably-as-solar-activity-shows-persistent-decline-resembles-dalton-minimum-of-1790-1830/

Recent solar conditions indicate a persistent decline in solar activity‐‐‐possibly similar to the past solar grand minima, scientists reporting in AGU's Space Weather write. During such periods of low solar activity, the fluxes of galactic cosmic rays (GCRs) increase remarkably, presenting a hazard for long‐term crewed space missions and affecting Earth's climate system. The current situation resembles the Dalton minimum of 1790 ‐ 1830 or the Gleissberg minimum of 1890 ‐ 1920. [more]

A Plastics Spill on the Mississippi River But No Accountability in Sight
    http://www.fasterthanexpected.com/2020/08/11/a-plastics-spill-on-the-mississippi-river-but-no-accountability-in-sight/

“The petrochemicals present will pollute fish and wildlife for years as they degrade in the sun,” Scott Eustis with Healthy Gulf, an environmental advocacy group, wrote of the pellets in an email. “This is ominous for the August 2nd event,” he added, after learning that the nurdles still remain along the river.

by the time the investigation reveals the company or person responsible for the incident, the pea-sized plastic pellets will be widely dispersed along the Mississippi River and Gulf of Mexico.

“Spills from plastic transport are not uncommon — plastic nurdles are one of the most common plastic pollutants in the environment,” Patton said. “This is something that communities around the globe have experienced wherever plastics are moved, as nurdles or as consumer products. “

“The Mississippi River is already lined with several of these massive plastic plants, and our elected leadership is actively recruiting more of these facilities to build in Louisiana communities,” Patton said. “Whether plastic resins are deemed ‘hazardous’ under the law does not detract from their irrevocably devastating effects on lives, livelihoods, and fisheries anywhere they are made and moved.” [more]

  2. 'Barbaric' horse killings put French countryside on alert
    https://www.sott.net/article/439624-Barbaric-horse-killings-put-French-countryside-on-alert

French police are investigating a spate of killings of horses involving mutilation of the animals' bodies.

The latest in Cortambert, a village in the Saone-et-Loire region, occurred overnight on Friday.

A Paris police spokeswoman said there had been about 10 similar cases across France since the start of the year, most in the north and many taking place in secluded meadows.

She said all types of horses had fallen victim, as well as one donkey, and that mutilation of an ear was a common factor. No meat had been taken from the carcasses. [more]

Grizzly Fire burns across I-70 and the Colorado River
    https://wildfiretoday.com/2020/08/12/grizzly-fire-burns-across-i-70-and-the-colorado-river/

    The Interstate highway remains closed

Tuesday afternoon the Grizzly Creek fire was extremely active, spreading in almost all directions. It moved farther north deeper into the White River National Forest and spotted south across the Interstate and the Colorado River where it is now well established. The initial crossing of the river occurred on the southeast side of the fire northeast of Lookout Mountain.

At 1:04 a.m. Wednesday the fire was mapped by a U.S. Forest Service using a Beechcraft 200 Super King Air. They determined that the fire had burned 3,702 acres and during the previous 24 hours ran one mile north, one mile northeast, and almost two miles across the river to the southeast. The growth to the west was not as rapid as the other sides of the fire and it was still about two miles from Glenwood Springs. At that time it was about 0.75 mile away from the community of No Name at Interstate 70 and had not crossed No Name Creek. [more]

    http://www.fasterthanexpected.com/2020/08/10/climate-change-warming-world-will-be-devastating-for-frozen-peatlands/

The world’s peatlands will become a large source of greenhouse gases as temperatures rise this century, say scientists.

Right now, huge amounts of carbon are stored in boggy, often frozen regions stretching across northern parts of the world.

But much of the permanently frozen land will thaw this century, say experts.

This will release warming gases at a rate that could be 30-50% greater than previous estimates. [more]

Americans Are Growing Less Willing To Beg for Permission To Make a Living
    https://reason.com/2020/08/10/americans-are-growing-less-willing-to-beg-for-permission-to-make-a-living/

It appears that government-imposed restrictions on travel, business, and social contact don't become more palatable with age. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to simmer, the one competency that officials have consistently displayed is in tightening the screws, using the licenses and permissions they require as enforcement tools. For people tired of being bossed around, the obvious response is to carry on without the government's imprimatur—and they're doing so in droves. It's an attitude likely to live on long after the crisis has passed.

"Our businesses are doomed," Chris Polone, co-owner of a Fort Worth bar that was one of more than 800 such establishments to open in defiance of Texas closure orders, said at the end of July. "We have nothing to lose. We can either fight this thing, Or we can starve ourselves out."

As apocalyptic as that sounds, it's a reasonable statement when the review site Yelp reports that 55 percent of all businesses shut during the pandemic are believed to have closed their doors forever. For many entrepreneurs, breaking the rules may be the only way to survive. [more]

Thunderstorms have hospitalized 52K Americans for breathing issues, study says. Why?
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/thunderstorms-hospitalized-52k-americans-breathing-174651776.html

Older adults suffering from common chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma should take extra precautions when conditions are ripe for thunderstorms.

New research shows the cocktail of lightning, rain and strong winds has been responsible for thousands of emergency room visits for breathing problems among older adults over a 14-year period, according to a study published Monday in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine.

Unlike past studies that have blamed increased pollen counts during storms for the uptick in respiratory issues, this paper found that rises in temperature and air pollution in the days before a major storm were the culprits.

The researchers say these thunderstorm-related atmospheric changes are expected to become much more frequent as global temperatures rise, which could eventually strain healthcare systems as more patients seek relief from troubled breathing.
