But two things make me not ...Nasty stuff, for sure. But two things make me not worry all that much about carbon disulfide: 1) we know that hydrogen sulfide is present in extinction events, as this document details (PDF):

http://www.chicagocleanpower.org/ward.pdf

And 2) carbon disulfide is a liquid at temps below 115 degrees Fahrenheit, compared to hydrogen sulfide which has a boiling point of -75 degrees Fahrenheit. So you're very unlikely to encounter carbon disulfide as a gas, unless you're standing near a volcano or something.

That's not to say carbon disulfide might not be a problem as the Earth warms more, but it'll really only be a problem for the people who've already figured out how to survive a deadly poisonous and explosively flammable hydrogen sulfide- and methane-enriched atmosphere. (And if they can survive THAT then some carbon disulfide should be no problem for them, since the same things should then work for that too.)
Jonny Mnemonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06516458612879773986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4388504906915444063.post-39731810886512683892013-03-01T21:39:09.029-06:002013-03-01T21:39:09.029-06:00Nice work. Cs2 is erwhere h2s is....for the same reasons....but cs2 is heavier, more persistent, more explosive. More volatile, harder to mitigate in hysrocarbon streams, allowed at higher concentrations in pipelines, etc. Stick with it. You are on to something. BTW, carbon disulfide exposure leads to frank insanity and violent paranoid homicidal acts, among other unpleasantries. research dr Delpech. Please!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
